"Loners can stick a pumpkin in their ear." Vesper rumbled, barely shooting a sideways glance at the Hellhound. She was a pack creature, to the core, they were her family, and you defended family, be it blood family or found family, and that required communication, honest and clean. It was probably just as well she had no power to read minds, and that she was too busy to note the Hellhound's body language as he arrogantly dismissed her as sound and fury, but she had bigger things to worry about... so to speak.
"WE CAN DO THIS!" It wouldn't over run them on her watch! Not on her life! It was big, it was strong, but that didn't mean they couldn't be fast, and sharp, and she hoped to bolster the others with her bold shout. "That slime sucker is NOT leaving this Maul!" Even if they got hurt doing it, they needed to keep it from getting outside, and by Jack, she was going to be among those trying to stop it. "Cover me!" She snapped, figuring they could sort it out for themselves who would do what to that end, and launched to the assault.

By the time it came to Yvette's turn to supply her name to those who cared to hear her out in the little group that had formed, the arrival of yet another monstrosity that shook the ground with every step it took snared her undivided attention almost immediately. Unholy s**t. Could these things get any bigger than this?
Instinctively, she took a step back, her eyes widening at how the huge shadow creature towered over all of them. Was she going to back down now and leave the others behind so that she could make her escape to save her own skin? Certainly not! The red panda monster might be gradually losing hope with how futile their combined efforts seemed to be against these shadowlings but she would never leave any monster behind.
No one gets left behind.
Taking a step forward then another, the ghoul made a dash for the huge creature's legs, only to have it terminated prematurely when it raised one of its arms to effortlessly sweep her aside as if she was nothing more than a mere ant.

Billy was still a bit in awe of Vesper and her gung ho attitude. She'd fit in well with any of his multitude of rough and tumble brothers. When she called out for cover he turned a shade of pink but decided that he'd try and step up. "G..I got ya!" The farmboil threw up his fists as well.
Estelle leapt on his back, also extending her legs in a bit of an intimidation tactic. The spider wished she knew kung fu cause she imagined it would be really cool right about now.
As Vesper leapt forward, Billy and Estelle did too. All he could manage was a single punch to beat the monster away but the reaper was starting to get swept up in the ghoul's enthusiasm.

"Fluffy!!" Vesper shouted as Yvette was brushed aside like nothing, slashing wildly as she sprang after the girl in some idea of trying to help her, though she could have been more sure exactly what she was going to do. Hurt rolled off the giant creature in waves, and she was starting to wear down slowly herself. She did only glancing damage as she pinged through, but seemed determined anyway.

"Billy!" Estelle leapt in front of a hit that came at him while he was distracted. The spider was knocked aside like a toy, tumbling over and over with her legs curled tight into the body.
"'STELLE!" The farmboil rushed to his familiar and picked her up, just as she uncurled her legs in recovery. She was as much a part of him as a limb or an organ. He didn't want to see anything happen to his faithful companion!

Yvette supposed that she had her lucky stars to thank for her coming away from this with nothing more than a bruised pride and some scrapes. She might not be as lucky the next time. "I... I'm alright!" Trying her best to reassure Vesper who had come after her, she gave the other ghoul a wry smile then made another attempt at the shadow creature's legs again, figuring that she simply had to be more careful and quicker on her feet in order to make this work.

Kat could not help the slight laugh at Miyuki's comment. It really was quite the party, but not one that she would have liked to go to. Over all despite the fact that the thing kept getting more hits in on herself over her damaging it she found this whole thing enjoyable. Well, to a degree, it was exciting and was making her ectoplasm pump, which for being a black cat ghost did not happen as often as one might think. "I don't know.. at least it brought plenty of party treats first?" She joked with the ghoul near her before throwing herself, and her claws, at the enemy once more. However she ended up hissing as the creatures own claw like fingers raked over her back as she missed. Landing on the other side of the creature she quickly made her way back to Miyuki. She was panting majorly as she leaned against the wall of one of the shops close to them. That had not been fun.

This fight really did need to be ended soon, Miyuki thought to herself as she caught her breath and looked around. Many of the people she could see looked tired and definitely injured. Briefly, Miyuki wondered if anyone here was going to survive this... Shaking her head to dislodge that train of thought, she quickly studied her opponent, looking for any weak spots. It was hard to tell honestly, but she finally selected a target and leaped forward, her parasol extended for another hit at the shadow creature. Unfortunately she missed again, causing a low growl to emanate from her throat. Miyuki prided herself on grace and so far this fight had been going far from in her favor. A quick glance toward Kat proved the other girl was not doing to well and Miyuki sighed.
Avoiding the shadow's path of destruction, she made her way back to the other girl's side . "How are you doing?" She asked, her voice almost showing a small hint of concern. Miyuki was starting to think they should join one of the other groups of people fighting this monster. Her cold gaze, swept the area, looking for some likely candidates to join with. "Perhaps we should see if anyone here can heal you." She stated as she made sure to stand slightly in front of the more injured girl, her parasol at the ready, just in case.

In her anxiety, Kari nearly jumped at the hand that was placed on her shoulder. Glancing back with the intent to swing at the owner of the offending hand, Kari paused to find Ruth instead, healing her.
"Ah... Ruth... thank you... and sorry for almost wailing on you... I'm kind of jumpy at the moment...", the ghoul laughed in embarrassment, her voice trailing off at the thought of hitting one of her allies. Shaking the thought off, she knew that she couldn't waste the gift she was given.
Pausing to settle herself, Kari raced to meet the great shadowling in hopes of landing another hit. She grimaced as the giant merely swatted her away, throwing her into the ground in a flurry of dust and debris. Picking herself back up, she stared at the shadowling's towering figure. Looking around, she suddenly realized that the other members of the group were nowhere to be found. "Touchstone? Edgar? Van?" she called, worry growing in her mind and heart. Had something happened to them? Kari's heart weighted heavy with the numerous possibilities to the fate of her allies.
"Where is everyone? I can't do this by myself...", she murmured quietly to herself.

Uru ran forth once more, lunging at the enormous shadow creature with another right hook followed by a swift downward kick using the following momentum. The creature retaliated again, blowing him back to the ground. Even with the careful back handspring onto his feet, the damage was done - to the both of them. Gripping his side, the Hellhound growled.
"This is... impossible." He glanced toward the others around him, each seeming to be acting on their own. Independent. There was no coordination that he could tell. A fruitless endeavor.
If they didn't defeat this, would it come back? Would the shadows from before? If they did defeat it... would it only get worse?

"We gotta keep tryin.." Billy muttered. It was a bit of response to the doubts he hard from the others around him but it was also a bit of self reassurance. None of them were knocked out yet, even if some seemed weak. They had to try!
"Throw me." Estelle clawed foot tugged his pantleg.
"Huh?"
"Toss me! Like the pumpkin toss at home!" She'd already started to climb the reaper's front.
"Oh!" Billy grinned a moment, rare in the dire battle, and took the spider in both of his hands. With a grunt and a heave he threw her, the familiar landing on their foe just long enough to sink her fangs in before being brushed aside once more.

Than had been, he had to admit, a touch disappointed when Estelle took leave of him. However, he'd smiled and waved at her nonetheless. "Takings caaaaaaare!" It was a triumphant trill, the pup fully reassured in the familiar's ability to take care of her reaper.
He was not at all thrilled, however, at the appearance of the new badling. "Mega veryveryvery bad badling." He murmured, good eye scanning desperately for Merry. The chimera was the most familiar entity amidst this crowd of new friends. "MERRYYYYYYYY." The call of the ghouls name was more in concern for her well-being, than for any jitters about the pup's own health.
The fur on his tail and ears bristling with indignation at their foe, Thannas decided it would be best to take Estelle's advice.
It wasn't hard to spot Vesper after all. He could sense the pack mentality that coursed through her, and it stirred his own blood. He'd been looking about it all wrong, it seemed. Battle? Why not a Hunt?! Baring fangs he charged in for a rush of claws, attempting to pound away at their opponent with all the strength that his slender frame could muster. "C'MON, VESPEEEEEEEEEER! LETS BE GETTING THIS BADLING HOME!" And he felt shadowy flesh give before he was flung backwards.
There was a bit of a fist-pump at Billy's capital toss of Estelle as well. Hee. Too bad Than wasn't small enough for tossing.
Though the Fae-Hound felt the claws of his enemies, their fingers ripping at his flowing garment maliciously, scoring skin beneath, he hardly cared. Adrenaline and instinct had taken over, and Than had friends to protect.

Seeing the efforts of the few who hadn't yet given up, Kari tried to shake the oppressing feelings toward the situation.
"I can't slack off, even if this does seem impossible...", the ghoul growled as she forcing herself to charge towards her target.
Letting out a battle cry, she swung with all her might, managing to at least catch the giant creature's notice. It swiped a clawed hand toward Kari who just barely managed to avoid a critical hit to her midsection. She hissed as she pulled at her shirt just above the pocket where a large hole now laid, a sizable cut laying on the skin underneath.
"This is getting dangerous...", the ghoul groaned as she lifted her hand to rub her neck nervously.

Small predators could take down large prey if they were smart and relentless. "We can do this! WE CAN DO THIS!" She tore into the huge creature, again only doing marginal damage, but it would add up, it would, they would wear it down the way it was wearing them down.
