Feeling Shun's warmth against her hand, Mitsu tilted her head down, eyeing this interaction before she loosened up the grip she had on her sleeve and weaved her fingers in with his. It was a simple connection that took her mind off of what had been plaguing it for the last few minutes. Instead she was able to take a deep breath and turn her attention back to Mr. Shiro.
"I'm fine...I don't want anything."

"I'm fine as well," Shun nodded.
Shiro furrowed his brow, but then gave a sort of resigned nod as he sat back down across the table from the two.
"You'll help with this process right? Though.. you've likely lost a bit of favor with Kaitou earlier."
"That isn't an issue. I'm not asking for a mutiny here. I'll help you however I can. Did you receive any orders from him just yet?"
Shun shook his head at that, "No. Just that I'd be answering to Akane when I'm back at the school."
"Ah good good. You'll be able to start from there then," the older reaper nodded before smiling at Mitsu, "As for you... try and make sure he doesn't do anything to brash. You seem like a pretty sensible young lady."

The actual working mechanics of the family business was lost on Mitsu and because of that she zoned out a little until Shiro called for her attention. Looking up rather sheepishly at the older gentleman she only nodded slightly. She would look out for Shun the best she could but as far as being sensible...she wasn't so sure that she was. This wasn't exactly what she had planned for a way or life but she would make the best of it.
Thinking of something else, Mitsu tugged on Shun's sleeve to get his attention before sighing out to him, 'Do you know what kind of jobs you might be doing?'

Shun turned towards Mitsu when she tugged at his sleeve, taking a moment to decipher what she was signing to him. He wasn't completely fluid with it just yet so it was taking him some time to put together what she was saying.
"I'm not entirely certain yet. To start off, I'll likely be running messages, acting as a look out, maybe picking up or delivering things. Fairly small things. From there, I'm not sure just yet," he explained.

Mitsu started to sign something else but she realized once she got to 'No more..' that she didn't know the sign for the word she wanted to use. It wasn't something she used often if at all so instead she lapsed back into speaking, though quietly.
"No more kidnapping?" There was a lot she could probably tolerate but that really wasn't one of those things. Taking people from their families, schools or homes and away from the people who loved and cared about them....it could only come back to haunt them in the end.

Furrowing his brow, Shun thought about that for a time.
"Probably not. I'm fairly certain that operation shut down after what happened," he said quietly. After all, the contact and client for the kidnapped kids was slain. A life taken away by his own hands.
"...That isn't to say I might not have to other things you won't approve of.. Especially if Kaitou has plans for a particular enemy."
Taking in a deep breath, he glanced down towards the ground, then recalling something else. He lifted his head and looked towards Shiro.
"Shiro. Many years ago, a spider demon boogeyman was caught infiltrating our ranks... do you remember where he had been killed?" he asked suddenly. The question caught the older man off guard.
"..Yes. I'm surprised you know about this. You were but a small boy at the time. Why...do you want to know?"
"I have my reasons.." the reaper said in turn, then glanced towards Mitsu. She should know what he was talking about. It was quite awhile ago that Lizzy requested his help in this, but he hadn't forgotten about it.
"...I see," Shiro frowned, "Give me a moment. The name of the place slipped my mind."

It was something to know that the operation was shut down but it left Mitsu wondering what else there would be in the future. What else would she have to handle or attempt to turn a blind eye to?
There was nothing else for her to say on the matter really. At least not at the moment. The future would only tell how she would feel about anything but when Shun asked Shiro a question she looked between the two with furrowed brows. She remembered what Shun had told her about Lizzy's father. It made her heart sink thinking about it and a small pang of worry...wondering if something similar had happened to her family. The matter behind their disappearance was still a mystery to her.

"Lets see... it was out at a fairly remote dock of sorts," Shiro murmured, thinking to himself a little longer, "Devil's Dock. That's where it was. I don't think you'll find anything there anymore at this point though."
Shun shook his head at that, "It is just the information that I needed. Thank you Shiro."
The old man nodded quietly, then got up for the moment. He stepped away, then shortly after, he came back with a small plate. It had a few small white balls on it.
"...I know you said you didn't want anything, but please. Try some. The mood in this place is too dour. They're sweet. Just the thing to lift things up."

The topic was a grim one and Mitsu only hoped they wouldn't have similar conversations in the future. She sat quietly while Shiro thought over the past and where Lizzy's father was likely killed. It left her feeling uneasy again, her skin crawling just imaging the incident and likely it was worse than even her mind was able to come up with. Or maybe she was blowing it out of proportion?
She started to rub at her arm again out of nerves, being pulled from her thoughts when Shiro presented her with a plate. Her gaze fell to the small white balls, her expression unsure. When she had said she didn't want anything she had meant it but it would likely be seen as rude to refuse...so with a small inward sigh she took one of the pieces off the plate finding the texture to be rather squishy.
"..What is it?" She brought it up to her nose first to sniff finding it to be rather familiar. Sugar and...rice?

"It's called mochi. This type has no filling, but it's still nice all the same," Shiro smiled. Shun let out a sigh at this, but took one of the little balls as well. Without much of a question, he popped it into his mouth and began to chew carefully.
"It's pretty chewy. But.. I think you'd like it," he encouraged. He noticed that she was feeling uncomfortable, and was rather thankful of the older reaper's attempt to ease the tension. It was lucky that he had grabbed something sweet too instead of something like.. dried squid.

Poking around the mochi ball a little curiously Mitsu turned it in her hand a few times before she began to nibble at the edge. As Shun said it was chewy if not a little on the sticky side. It had a nice flavor though, sweet but not overly so. What kind of filling would they put in something like this? Hopefully not chocolate.
"It's good." She nodded, popping the rest of the mochi into her mouth. It was good it was a rather small piece as chewing it proved a little troublesome.
And that day Shiro leveled up with five points for charm and ten points for food bribery.

"I'm glad you like. Made this myself. Though I admit that I don't quite do it in the traditional manner," Shiro said with a light chuckle.
At that, Shun furrowed his brow in the image of the man pounding away at mochi with a hammer. It was... odd. Shaking his head, he decided to go with another question, once he wasn't chewing on the sweet stuff.
"Oh. I have.. one other question if you don't mind. You did mention my mother the other day. You.. wouldn't happen to know where I could find a picture of her would you?" he asked.
For a moment, the older reaper thought on that, but slowly shook his head.
"Unfortunately no. In his grief, Kaitou did away with everything that had to do with her. Well... except for that amulet around Miss Mitsu's neck. A surprise really. Ayumi did love orchids," he said wistfully.

"Traditional?" Mitsu didn't know much about the treat she was eating so she didn't know there was multiple ways to make it. What all did it involve?
Instead of being able to ask Shun instead moved on to another semi grim topic. It was something she had been curious about earlier and apparently Shun was starting to wonder too. Was the Ayumi they had met...really his mother? Could it be possible? It seemed like a long shot but at the same time....
Mitsu looked down at the orchid pendant that hung from her neck, her fingers tracing along it carefully. The pieces fit so well together could it be that Shun had actually found his mother? Though she had no real memory of him or anything from her past life in her current state.

"Yes. The traditional method involves mixing it in a big stone bowl, then hammering it repeatedly while it's still hot," Shiro said with a nod, "It's rather time consuming though. But it does have its old charms."
Shun furrowed his brow at the words regarding his Mother. The ghost they had met also seemed to have an affiliation for orchids. It was almost uncanny with where things tied together, but he still wasn't so certain. Even then, the ghost wouldn't exactly be his mother any longer at this point. She'd be the same and yet a different person at the same time.
But, unless they had a picture, there wasn't really a way for them to confirm this. In the meantime, he glanced over at Mitsu curiously, wondering if she was thinking the same things he was.
"She was a very kind woman. I think you two would like her, if she was still around," Shiro said with a small smile. That said, he went on and pushed the plate of mochi towards the two a little closer.

The mochi was interesting but Mitsu was a little more interested to learn about Shun's mother. Absently she grabbed for another piece of the white squishy treat and nibbled on it while another question bubbled up into her mind.
"M...Mr. Shiro." She started softly, hesitantly. "What...what was Shun's father like back then?" It was something else Mitsu was curious about. How far had Shun's father come from the man he once was or was the change not that big at all? Had Ayumi just been holding him back or had he really been different?
