Inspecting the pile of objects with a claw, Kha'per nodded her approval. They will do. She said, waddling into position atop the squishy objects. You're free to go, you've done all you can for me. I'll call you when... Kha'per grunts as her muscles contract in preparation for the coming eggs. ...they're all out.

He nods and leaves the engine room. Zeph had a few things to check up on anyway. Walking back to the control room he began to double check their course and changing a few things around so the ship would be able to dodge a few meteors that they would have to deal with along the way. Though one of the meteors had a pit stop upon it, so Zeph would want to stop for a quick refuel before heading to the next planet.

Come meet your children... Kha'per called telepathically from her location in the engine room. Having finished laying their first clutch of eggs, Kha'per now relaxed alongside the make-shift nest that contained the eggs, which numbered an impressive twenty-four.

Zeph came down to the room and saw her. Walking over he began to tear up a little. Gently touching a few of the eggs softly he smiled. "Hello little ones..I'm glad you're here.." he said rubbing one of the eggs. He was touched, they felt so warm and so vunlerable. Little did he know that the egg he was touching the most was a little girl. I don't know what to say, but they're so beautiful. I..I helped you create a clutch. he blushed looking at her. Finding a place to relax with her, he began to snuggle his face up against her giant bug one. How are you feeling? Any complications?

Fine. Kha'per replies, trying to shift over so they could sit together beside the eggs but with her bulk it was next to impossible. Shifting into her human form, her sleek white space suit now baby bump free, Kha'per snuggled up beside her husband and lover. "And no. All went perfect. I don't know how your species can handle giving birth to live young. Such a thing must cause more problems than it helps..."

"Yeah it takes a whlie for them to recover." he replied kissing her lips. Finally glad to hold her again he pulled Kha'per closer snuggling her in his arms. "Man I missed this." he blushed. She would be thin for a while until she desired more children. Looking at their clutch he smiled proudly. "I can't wait to meet them when they hatch." he cooed to her romantically.

"That won't be long at these temperatures." Kha'per replied, cuddling closer to Zeph despite the already warm conditions of the room.

"Wow that soon huh?" he asked then suddenly a few of them started to move and began to crack open. Tiny little creatures that looked like Kha'per began to crawl out and call for her. The one Zeph was touching broke open but couldn't get open all the way and was crying. Touched he gently walked over and helped his daughter. Sniffing his hand she looked up at him and began to crawl up his arm. Zeph was a bit alarmed at first but calmed down when she got to his shoulder and nuzzled his cheek. Pretty soon the other children reconized their father and began crawling up his body. Looking at her he blushed. "I think they like me.." he chuckled lightly cuddling his children happily.

"They better, cause you're not leaving anywhere." Kha'per replied with a smile, watching as their children crawled free of their eggs and made their way over to Zeph. Unlike their mother, the children had hands and fingers in place of her claw-like arms. True the fingers would develop into claws as they grew but their anatomy was slightly different than Kha'per's.

Eventually they grew hungry then made sounds for their mother. Crawling off of Zeph they started to head to Kha'per. Except for the little girl who was too shy and scared to move off of his shoulder. Once free he stepped out of the way so his lover could change and feed their young, but he looked at the little girl with the pretty eyes. "What's the matter little one?" he asked gently picking her up and snuggling her. "Don't worry, Daddy's here..you're safe." he smiled feeling her snuggle into his warm arms. He wondered if she would end up becoming 'Daddy's girl?' she seemed to not want to leave his side but eventually grew hungry herself. So walking over he gently set her down near her mother so she could eat as well. "Honey, I've got to check on the ship to make sure we're on course. I'll be back." he said then went to check up on the ship and it's destination.

Shifting back to her natural form as Zeph left, Kha'per busied herself feeding the children and trying to figure out how to name them all. From what she'd glimpsed of human society new parents named their children based off the names of their ancestors but Kha'per had yet to delve that deep into Zeph's memory especially after what she'd seen the memory of his sister do to him. Maybe we'll just number them until we come up with something, she thought. Grab a marker or something while you're up there, She called telepathically to Zeph.

He laughed at her message. Marking their young would be odd, but necessary. Their course was safe he grabbed a marker and headed back down to find all the young now sleeping. With her guidence he began to mark them with symbols. The symbols would tell if they were male or female and also were in some strange numbering system of her people. Was it just him or did they appear a little bigger as well? Shaking it off Zeph capped the marker and blushed shyly feeling Kha'per's eyes upon him. "Yes what is it honey?" he asked smiling at her happily.

(How many males and females you thinking? I was thinking about 22M and 2F. Two females just in case something happens to one of the females before she reaches breeding age, and the males can learn how to fly ship and become Zeph's crew.) "Nothing, was just watching you work." Kha'per replied with a smile. Catching the thought as it drifted through Zeph's mind, Kha'per spoke to keep his mind at ease. "Yes they are bigger. As you might have guessed after seeing my previous planet it was either grow up fast or die. Generations of such thinking has caused us to grow faster than your human offspring. It also allows us to take a guess at what the child will excel in. For example, number (random-alien gibberish, we'll just say nine for now) over there. Judging by his current size, he'll be a big healthy male, good for manuel labor, heavy lifting and in the sense of repopulating... breeding."

(Yeah that's fine. smile ) "I see.." he replies with a nod. "Whomever our young choose to breed with will be surprised." he blushed. "I don't know if there are many Human women out there that can carry 24 children let alone eggs." he sighs taking her Human hand. "Yet we'll worry about that later. If we have another litter or two I might need to get a bigger ship." Zeph shyly blushed figuring she would want to have another litter sometime in the future.

"Who knows how much you humans will evolve in the next twelve or so years maybe one will be able too... Or more likely maybe your technology will allow one to do so." Kha'per replied. "But agreed, thats a topic for a later date." "With or without another litter on the way, with twenty-two kiddies to help you out around the ship and on jobs, I'm sure a bigger ship is easily in our reach." Kha'per added with a smile.
