"Maybe because now we know of the immenient doom that is waiting for us up here," She grumbled, drawing back. As she spoke, she could feel the warmth radiating from the magma onto her back. It wasn't not an entirely unpleasant feeling...but she knew it would be a lot worse should they actually, well, fall into the pits.
She began to push herself to her feet, and then paused, looking nervous. "S...so, about that deal..."

"Yeah. Besides, if you don't? I'll never forgive you." Because Otto was resentful, and easy to hold a grudge if Eva didn't trust her own name with him.

...Oh. She jut her bottom lip out in a pout before flopping back down into a sitting position, her eyes downcast. Wriggling uncomfortably, she glanced everywhere but Otto. "It's not that great. I mean...well. Eva is short for..."
Looking a little red, she grumbled the last part.

Otto sat down with her, staring intently even if she wouldn't meet his eyes. Her grumbling murmur made it difficult to make out what she'd said. "Huh? Can ya speak up?" He leaned in to try and hear her better, thinking either she was just that embarrassed or the roar of lava was interfering.

Despite the fact that shera was usually the one to invade his personal space, Eva nervously scooted backwards when he leaned in, still not looking at him. When he asked her to speak up, she did. A little.
"MyfullfirstnameisEvangeline OOOKAY now you know, so let's get going, okay?!" And then she tried to stand up and flee. Hey, to be fair, she did tell him her name just now.
Only he might have not heard it but close enough, right? ...Right?

"Woah woah woah!" Otto barked, grabbing her wrist and yanking her down again. "NOT fair, lady. How was I supposed to catch that?" How bad was it anyway? Woud her name really make him laugh or something?
He huffed. "Come on. How about a trade? Will that make it easier?" He was just that curious now. He needed that name.

Eva just looked as pouty as ever as she found herself dragged back down. Foiled. For a minute, she continued to keep her gaze averted, only for her eyes to light up in interest when the boy mentioned a trade.
...Trade?
This time, it was Eva's turn to lean forward as she lifted her curious eyes to meet his. "What kind of trade?"
Aka yes, that would make it easier.

"Anythin'. Whatever makes ya more willin' to give up your name." Otto replied. He really didn't care at this point.
"Anythin' ya wanna know about me is open season. Deal?" Nothing but info about himself, since this trade was supposed to be equal value on either side of the trade.
Meanwhile, the lava made noises. WHERE WAS THEIR KINDLING!?

Oooh, ooooh, this was one hell of a deal! Eva paused to glance back and shoot the lava a "please shut up, we're talking here" look before turning back to Otto. "Assuming that I don't have to cash in on that 'I get to ask you anything' thing now, deal." Reaching out, she took his hand and gave it a firm shake.
And now, to the moment of truth. Cheeks still red, she cleared her throat as she shifted on the spot uncomfortably. "Well, I know that it...it doesn't suit me, but you can't laugh, okay?" There was a pause where she looked at him expectantly, brows raised, and then she sighed.
"It's short for Evangeline."

"Deal." Otto replied, shaking her hand firmly back.
He waited, nodding at her request but making no promises. If he laughed it wasn't his fault. And then the moment of truth. Her name had been revealed. The moment it did, Otto looked as if he was trying very hard not to smirk, a strangled snort coming from his throat.
"Oh." He said in a strained voice. The steeled expression broke, and Otto laughed.
"Sorry! Sorry!" Otto managed in between giggles. "It's not even a funny name I just..I can't.." He laughed some more, hunched over and covering his mouth. "You were just so worked up over it! Oh my gooooooood"

If it was possible--which apparently it was--Eva's face grew into an even brighter shade of red as the blond lost all composure and began to laugh. Scowling, she crossed her arms over her chest and looked away. "It...it's embarrassing. okay?! It's too fancy, and stupid, and can you imagine someone calling me Evangeline?"
Bottom lip jutting up, she began to get up with the intention of marching away. She knew she shouldn't have told him.

Crap! She was mad at him!
Otto composed himself, getting up after her. "W-wait. Sorry, sorry.." One last chuckle escaped him as the laughter died. "It's a very pretty name, Eva. Nothin' embarrassin' about it. Just thought it was funny ya'll were so bent out of shape over it."
He scratched his cheek, letting her go to do so. "And.. well maybe it is a bit funny how fancy it is." The southern boy drawled with a light shrug. "Anyway, let's get that damn prize for ya."
Otto coughed and headed out in front of her. A sizable explosion sent hot coals in his direction.

Her arms were still tightly folded over her chest as she turned to shook him a look, but for a second--just for a second--her expression softened a little when he told her that it was pretty.
And then the grumpy look was back.
"Yes, well. Now you know why I go by Eva and you can't tell anyone else about my name, okay?" She added the second part as a very quick afterthought, a slight warning tone in her voice. "I'm still kind of mad--"
--only not. She swore that her heart stopped for a second when Otto stepped out in front of her and was immediately struck by a number of hot coals that burst out from one of the pits. As if forgetting the conversation a moment earlier, she jumped forward to stand beside him, eyes wide. "Are you okay?! Did it...did it cause any serious burns? Should we go back?"
