Crow was annoyed by the time Althea made it over to him. Rabbits had gone skittering and sliding all over the place, and had even run smack dab into him. Ears sharply back in vexation the black buck relayed his opinions to his marli and snorted as she shook her large head. There had been a promising doe, a few that had potential, and a whole lot of sad.
This was looking to be a fool's errand, but she had noted a few that had raw, rough ability. She still didn't feel thrilled at the prospect of putting this lot in fieldwork. But she wasn't a runner, maybe there was some sort of training they went through, who knew?
Thanking her son, she reminded him he still was required for tomorrow and left him at his scrapes after an awkward pause. Even with her considerable bulk she'd made the warren proper her home; taking a large burrow at the very mouth of the widest entrance into the warren.
Oh well. Hraka on the whole thing. Her son could take care of himself and the race tomorrow would probably start to root out the ones not made for being a runner. She might have to enlist extra help soon though, even with Crow's extra set of eyes and frank manner there was just too many rabbits to watch.
