"I think, at this juncture, that walking the perimeter would be a wise decision... see how far this odd 'barrier' goes." Malodore narrowed its gaze. "It's quite clear that these beings are hostile, pitiful though they may be..."
Then it lifted its beak up a bit, sniffing audibly - strange, coming from an undead. "Do you smell something? It smells like smoke..."

Riley had enjoyed the time they waited for Jericho, because she had lain back down on the snow, and let the cold numb her body again. When he returned, she was shivering, but the pain was all but gone. She rose up to her feet, brushed as much of the snow off as she could, and lifted her tentacles into the air once Malodore asked its question.
Yes. It comes from that direction. All of the tentacles pointed at once, and she turned her head to crane over and look. Shall we investigate?

Looking at the two, Jericho sniffed the air to see what Malodore was talking about. Ah yes. Among all the peppermint, he could smell a hint of smoke as well. Where there was smoke, there was probably fire. They should go to it yes.
"Yeah, let's do that," he agreed while looking at the direction Riley pointed, "Would you like a lift, Riley?"

"That would be a good idea," Malodore said, nodding at Jericho and opening its beak in a smile. "I shall scout out and meet you there."
And, with that, the plague doctor set off across the snow, lifting its coat primly as it plunged through the snowbanks.
