"It was... her fathers?" Derin didn't get much time to process this information, because soon he was hustled into the changing room, an armful of clothes in his hands. With a sigh he dropped it all and began sifting through it.
A few minutes later he emerged, a flat expression on his face, the mage looked at Blossom. "Well?" he asked, avoiding looking into her eyes.

Blossom hummed lightly to herself as she waited for Derrin, checking her fingernails before returning her hands to her knees. He would hopefully not take long to change, even with all the clothes she'd suggested for him. As long as he didn't just grab the first things he saw and pull them on without regard for matching or color combination or any other important aspect of making clothing work as one cohesive set. The Hero brushed her hands idly over her ponytail as she waited, checking for split ends. It was growing out nicely, she decided. To have gotten this long, so fast, maybe it would reach its old length in no time. It was a nice thought, at least...
"Well?"
Blossom looked up at Derrin, then rose to her feet. Once again, he was dressed in an abundance of red, but it all seemed more cohesive now, with all of the gold trim and his nice, weathered-looking cloak to round it all off. He looked older in these clothes, a bit more regal. The colors worked better with his hair, too, it was all very nice. Blossom grinned in approval, folding her arms behind her back. "I like it! It's very dashing. If you'll check the tags on those and pack away your old clothes, I'll go over to the shopkeep and pay for it, okay?" The Hero smoothed out her skirt before bounding away, infinitely pleased with herself.

Yes I would be happy to hear more on this work. I see you are not as clueless as I once thought. He had to play it cool. Of course he knew nothing of their line of work but would never let anyone else no that. He had been a prince then a soldier then a king. The mercenary life had no allure to him. But if it would make it to where he would find more people then it was worth it. He would slowly build up his resources until he had an army at his backing. So he would play the political game but he had to start somewhere. And where else to find a capable bunch of fighters?
Ephraim, Joshua, I will do anything to get back home. Even if it means degrading myself to mercenary chores. I cannot let my people be without a ruler. I see that since this land does not yet know of me I shall have to make them learn my name. To you, Lance, I will take this mercenary contract for the sake of returning to my homeland. The minute I deem it's usefulness voided I will retire. I do expect these to be accountable terms. If so I will accompany you back to sign whatever forms you need and to prepare a bunk. He tousled his hair with his hand forcing it out of his eyes where it always stayed.
Something else of equal importance. I believe that a fledgling mercenary company is like that of a Kingdom. Both of which will need to be properly documented. I would like to in addition of my other duties offer my services as an annalist free of charge of course. I learned calligraphy at a young age and write often in my spare time. It would be an honor to record the changes of your mercenary company. Some sort of history for the men to cling to in times of need. As well as reference when the going gets tough. Unless you expect this to die with you? He ended with a bow of formlessness. He expected a favorable response. Why ignore anything that someone was willingly giving you. All I shall require is quill and parchment as well as a room to store the annals.

Joshua gave Lance a blank stare when the bet was refused, "What an anti-climax that was. I could have used the extra pay too, looks like Lady Luck isn't with me today." The refusal of the bet left Joshua speechless, normally when people refused him he just kept going, talking quickly enough to confuse and distract them until he had tossed the coin. However Lance had refused him so thoroughly, clearly he was someone who had gambled before. Thankfully Innes stepped in to fill the silence, "Sorry Innes, but it doesn't look like any of us are ever going to get home... Mother..."
Joshua waited until Innes had finished before stepping forwards, "Better be careful Lance, the company hasn't even started yet and already you've got somebody going for for your job." He joked good-naturedly.

Jack nodded, "Well Amelia, hopefully you and I will become very good friends. It's nice to know I have someone watching out for me, now would you please let me see the injury you've been taking such pains to hide?" he said grinning. "I may not be a doctor but I have studied First Aid before and with all the wincing and holding your side you've been doing I must say you have me quite worried."

Amelia nodded, taking another healthy gulp from her lemonade. The glass was already half gone, the palm and fingers of her right glove now fully dampened from holding the sweaty glass. She didn't seem to care, though, simply removing her right glove and setting it down on the table. She picked the glass back up into her bare hand, studying the pale scar along the back of her hand as Jack spoke up again.
"Well, Amelia, hopefully you and I will become very good friends. It's nice to know I have someone watching out for me."
Amelia nodded, lowering her glass to the table. Jack seemed like a decent fellow, maybe--
"Now, would you please let me see the injury you've been taking such pains to hide?"
Amelia bristled; muscles tensing as she subtly shifted inward. Her other arm stayed "draped" around her midsection, gripping it now in her hand, even as the action caused her to invisibly wince. "I'm sorry. I don't happen to know what you're talking about." She began to rise to her feet, and her side responded by feeling as if it had been ripped open. Too much activity. Need to get back to the stand. Sit. Stay sitting.
The General stayed on her feet, even as her fingers twitched, tilting her body so it would face away from Jack. "In any case, I think it's about time we returned to the Watch's stand. Leon will be waiting for me, and I'm sure he'd like to have the opportunity to take a rest, himself." She used her free hand to push her hair off of her face, wiping away the beads of sweat gathering near her hairline in the process. "Well, more like I. You've finished signing up, so you're more than free to stay here if you'd like." Amelia spared Jack a momentary glance; despite the warm smile on her face, her arguably-bad ability to keep her poker face up was starting to fail. "It was very nice to meet you, Jack."

Well, this had been unexpected. Blythe had been directing his horse so as to avoid obstructing the flow of people through the job fair, but here was someone deliberately blocking him. A young man emblazoned in green with two companions behind him introduced himself as Abel and wasted no time in getting to his point: he was offering Blythe a job, apparently. Blythe recognized him and the two with him from a few various events that had taken place in months past, though he didn’t know very much about any of them at all, names included for those with Abel who hadn’t provided them yet. Blythe’s first action was to introduce himself; he’d address the question of looking for a job afterwards.
“Ah, yes, I recognize you. One doesn’t easily forget the faces of those defending them when you can’t fight back for yourself. I’m Blythe.” The Troubadour waved in salutation to the trio. “And I’m always looking for work. Generally nothing permanent, though; I like to travel. Are you looking for a healer?”

"Indeed I am!" Abel replied with a wide smile. "But are you sure you don't want somethin' more permanentlike? I mean, sure, I get it. I've lived solo for a nice portion of my own life. But, unless I'm reading you wrong by what you're carrying, you don't fight with weapons, do you? With that bein' the case, doesn't that put you in a bit of a vulnerable position? What if something happened, say bandits struck a village you were working at or you got mobbed on the road to somewhere; you couldn't do anything, right? Well, not if you had some protection!" Abel dramatically pointed back at himself with his thumb. "And that's where we come in!" His hand planted on his hips. "There's a plethora of opportunities in joining my group that you just can't get while doing business on your own! Aside from having protection, you've also got a helping hand to get jobs done faster, and with that comes more jobs that can be done, and with that comes more payment! And, with more people, comes bigger jobs... with much better payment, as well! And I think that part is something we can all enjoy, eh?" He chuckled and winked at Blythe. "And as for traveling, I've done jobs in Adliana and Estarcia, so it's not like we're stationed just here in Learania." He looked around at the rebuilding that was going on as they spoke. "Although, we're likely to be staying here for a while yet."
Abel looked at Blythe and tried to determine what was going on in his head. He smiled in hopes that he was managing to convince the man to join them, but he knew that he really wasn't very good at reading people. It occurred to Abel that maybe Blythe found the offer intriguing, but just wasn't sure, the same way Grave wasn't. With that thought in mind, he decided to add a little syrup to the hot cakes. "Oh! And I nearly forgot... I've already got a client lined up. I'll be on my way to said client once we're finished here. I was told it was a pretty well paying job, too. Split between..." He paused as he counted- and yes, he had to count- how many of them there were. "Including Akihi, the five of us, it'll still be a good pay. It's a job from a noble family, after all. It's a sort of job you wouldn't be able to do on your own, but when teamed up with us..." He chuckled and smiled widely. "We'll be a well-rounded group that'll kick some butt! Whatdya say, Blythe? Come team up with me, at least for this one time. You can decide if you want to stay, when it's over."

Tiny feet pattered across the cobbled stone of the market street, dodging through a moving forest of legs, soft giggles rising through the air as they scampered around long dresses and fat merchants. Behind her, wading through a the crowd, came the heavier footfalls of leather boots, kicking stones irritatedly across the road as the small girl's father followed after."Hiiii!" A little blonde in a sky-blue bandanna poked her head up over the edge of the Watch recruitment booth, holding the counter with both hands to try and pull herself up a little higher to get a better look at the booth attendants. "Hi," she repeated, "I'm Vah! Hi Mr. Leon!" She waved, and as a result her nose dipped back below the edge of the counter before she swung her arm up again and began to grunt, climbing up to sit on the booth's counter. She was in a pretty little blue dress, like a miniaturized... more appropriate version of her infamous mother's, and the very young girl had what one could only hope was a toy shortsword sheathed on her hip. She kicked her legs and giggled, turning around to reveal the bright marking on her left shoulder, and crossed her legs. "I'm lookin' for Miss 'Melia. Daddy says he's gonna give her what for," she added, puffing up her cheeks and putting her elbows on her hips as she reached the last part.
A shadow enveloped the booth, and a bandage-wrapped arm came down to rest a rough hand on the little girl's head, and she looked up with a giggle at her imposing father, the King of Hawks. His scarred face was twisted into the friendliest snarl he could manage as he glared down at the three beorc attending the booth in front of him. "Ah... Leon. Where... is Amelia? And why isn't she here? Or rather, why is she here at all? She needs to be in bed. I certainly trust that you don't need her here, working, when she's badly injured and still recovering." He closed his eyes, letting out a long, slow breath. "See, I was certain that when I found her bed empty and her horse gone, she'd be here. And lo and behold, I see before me an empty chair. Which means she was here, wasn't she? Only now she's not." He leaned a little closer, eyeing the unfamiliar recruits on either side of the new Captain. "So tell me. Where. Is she."
Vah turned around to face them again, scrunching up her face and squinting her eyes before raising her tiny fists.[... And little Vah too!]

Saifer Griimro Though Saifer had not spoken much as the stereotypical knightly youth had come up to the booth, he was quite intrigued as he spoke of how he'd magically winded up in Learania. Of course, he probably hadn't teleported into an asylum like Saifer had, but nonetheless he had warped here through cosmic means thus far unknown. Not that Saifer thought to bring up his past experience with this curious event, though. He was content with letting Leon chat up this knight until he was absolutely certain he wasn't just some nut or had lost track of time and direction and ended up in Eyris (which would denote how he had no idea how he got here). Anyway, if this guy was joining the Watch, there'd be plenty of opportunities later.
So Saifer simply stayed quiet and shuffled the necessary-looking papers in front of him. Leon had the roster anyway, so he was just trying to look not useless...until one of those freaky animal creatures came up to the booth from out of nowhere. Saifer's breathing hitched up and he tried to look anywhere but at the imposing monster-human thing. Though, really, this might have been a bad move since the guy looked like he would tear anyone in two if they looked at him wrong. Maybe Saifer was overestimating the violent streak of these sub-human creatures, but he couldn't help it. At least this one wasn't a tiger hybrid (or whatever the hell some of the others he'd seen were).
This time, he was a bit more than 'content' to let Leon do the talking. Especially when the guy leaned in threateningly with a tone that suggested there'd be trouble if he didn't get what he wanted.

I ain't forgettin' anyone, and I also ain't regrettin' anything.x - [Leon] - x "M...Magically found yer way here, ya say?" Leon said, raising an eyebrow to Sain. It was just as he thought. The man said a foreign name, and surely enough, this green-clad knight was no different than he was. "I'm startin' to think it's an everyday thing in this place, to be honest." Captain Vatara said nonchalantly, shrugging.
He then took Sain's papers after they were filled out. With a quick glance, he could tell that although he could read and write, Sain wasn't part of a high-born noble house, the way his writing was. But he had the passion, surely. "Welcome to the Watch, Sir Sain. I'm sure that I can get a nice place close by the Watch House so ya dun' have to walk far! I know new places can be strange at first but you'll get used to it!"
And just as he was about to say more, a surprise came. There was little Vah, climbing on the desk and giving him a rather innocent greeting. "... Hi..." Leon managed to say quietly. He wasn't able to stare in surprise very long before noticing Tibarn.
Facing the Hawk King, Leon eyed him, but did not flinch in his presence. "She was here, an' I gave her a break! I didn't force 'Melia to come an' work with me neither, Tibarn. It was her choice. Now that she's crew ahead of all the Watch there ain't even orders I can give to tell her otherwise." he said firmly. x - [Watch Captain] - x
We gotta carry on, ya know? It's what they woulda wanted!

Well, that break had been... entirely non-restful. Jack had been nice enough, but holy s**t she was already exhausted. Amelia sighed, rubbing a hand over her face, and headed back towards the stand. It had gotten to the point where it was early enough that there were still people clearly milling about, entering and exiting the marketplace in order to sign up or chat with those they knew, but late enough to make the biggest crowds have already faded. It made it a bit easier to navigate through the streets, idly holding an arm against her side to keep it neatly pressed to her bandages. The sharp pain from before had faded, but the faint, almost burning discomfort remained. I just need to sit down, and it'll all be fine. And the stand's only a block away now, so... She heaved a long breath, rubbed her free hand to her face, and kept moving. It'd be easier without the armor, though...
The General moved around the corner and began to approach the square, glancing around at all the stands, when she noticed an extremely familiar figure in front of one. ...Oh no. Please don't-- And yes, that was Leon behind it, talking to him, the gigantic man with the green coat and hawk wings. And judging by the rigidity of his shoulders and how tightly he was gripping the edge of the booth, he was not happy. Not, not happy.
"...Oh, I am so <********>," she muttered, standing alone in the middle of the square. Waiting target, that girl was. There wasn't much else for her to do, in all honesty: if she walked away, she'd only irritate her wound further and Tibarn would likely be more angry at her for trying to run. She didn't have the stamina for it, anyway. But if she approached, she was only launching into the imminent awkwardness and Tibarn's severe disappointment that much faster. So Amelia stood there, gripping her left arm with her right hand, left hand dangling uselessly at her side. Maybe Vah would notice her first, maybe that'd take the edge off of it, even if just a little bit.
She could only hope.

Sain Ladies how about a lovely dinner? "It's my pleasure and that is very kind of you Sir Leon to help me find a place." Sain said with a smile. The paladin was glad to have such kind people helping him out in this new world. He extended his hand out for a handshake with Leon, but the handshake never happened.
A little girl had gotten onto the table. Sain's head turned to the little girl just as someone was patting her head. His eyes trailed back up to see a big man with wings snarling at everyone at the booth. The paladin froze in place with his mouth open. Why was there a man snarling at him? What was this man? There weren't any laguz in Elibe He had no clue was was going on. He stood there staring at the man very confused. He didn't even flinch when the man eyed him.
"Who and what are you?" He said meekly. He didn't even notice the woman walking towards the booth. After all I am a noble knight of Caelin!

((Can anyone help me find jobs for my two chars? sweatdrop )) Lloyd walked up and down the booths eyeing up what was presented while also keeping a clever eye out for any members of the Black Fang. He was not worried though. He had done many missions before on his own. Some were quite dangerous but he managed to pull through them. This was a new challenge to him, something he enjoyed. Though not as reckless as his brother, the Mad Dog Linus, he still loved to wield his blade. Choosing to ignore the booths, he began to look around for familiar faces, even if they belonged to an enemy.
Trinity led Helios down one street and another until she ended up in the midst of the job fair. She sighed but decided to look around even while leading Helios around. People grumblled as she walked past even though Helios kept his wings folded down. She wasnt looking were she was going and crashed into a stall and knocked it down as the owner yelled and cursed.
Lloyd heard a crashing and turned around. He ran over to the commotion and saw a horse rearing up as people tried to tame it. That's no ordinary horse... Lloyd thought. He quickly ran over to the people holding the reins and grabbed them from them. He saw Trinity on the ground and quickly lifted her up too. "Please excuse my... wife. She has... vertigo and is a little clumsy. Here sir, sorry for the trouble." Lloyd handed the man some gold and walked over to a bench were he lay Trinity down while he watched over her and Helios.

Tibarn rolled his eyes, lifting one hand to irritatedly mime blabbering at Leon. "Yeah yeah yeah, no s**t, kid. Of course you didn't order her to do jackshit, she's your goddamn superior. If I'd come out here to yell at you for making her come out here, I'd have done that by now. No, she's outta goddamn bed, after I told her specifically not to come out here."
And then Sain had to open his GODDAMN MOUTH.
Tibarn's eye twitched, and he turned on the green knight, grinning a little too widely. "Oh, who and what am I, huh? 'Cause a guy can't be normal if he got goddamn wings, right?" Most other days, at this point, Tibarn would have shaken something like that off, but today was not most other days, and the Hawk King's famous temper was already approaching a boiling point. "Who and what the hell am I, huh? How long you been here, a*****e? Juuuust long enough to look at your first laguz and go hey, what's that, make yourself look like a goddamn fool." He drew himself up to his full height, towering over Sain, and spread his wings a little bit more. "You don't wanna go wandering around this town makin' snitty little comments. It's a good way to lose your nads, pissin' people off--""Miss 'Melia~" Vaherianslyeri had already hopped down and run to Amelia, and as Tibarn turned, the smaller blonde latched onto the injured general's leg happily. Tibarn turned, apparently forgetting about Sain completely, and moved like a slowly rolling storm cloud toward Amelia. The sparse crowds gave the Hawk King a wide berth as he made his way over until Amelia stood in his shadow.
"I told you to stay in bed. Then I go downstairs to do some reading, I come up, and find a bunch of pillows under your blanket. You need more pillows, you're not that thin," he added. "I'm taking you home, before you open up your damn side again. And you..."
He glanced down at his daughter, who looked up and suddenly waggled her finger at Amelia. "Apologize!"[... And little Vah too!]

Vaherianslyeri noticed her first. Okay. Maybe she wouldn't be completely obliterated right away. Amelia offered the little girl a warm smile as she held onto her leg. She started to lean down, but at the stabbing pain this afforded her, she instead managed to awkwardly kneel to give the little girl a hug. "Hey there, hon. You having fun today? Not running Daddy too ragged, are you?"
The moment was incredibly short-lived, but she at least got a few cheerful moments with little Vaheri before Tibarn was literally towering over her.
"I told you to stay in bed. Then I go downstairs to do some reading, I come up, and find a bunch of pillows under your blanket. You need more pillows, you're not that thin. I'm taking you home, before you open up your damn side again."
Amelia managed to get back upright, suppressing the instinctive wince by letting out a long breath. "I couldn't just let Leon work alone today, not when we could have been really swarmed with people. I was sitting most of the day, anyway, and... a-and." Amelia trailed off, gently resting a hand against the much-too-familiar wound. It burned in pain in response to the light pressure. "...Yeah."
"And you..."
"Apologize!"
The General cast her gaze down to the little girl and her disapproving motion. She managed to suppress the giggle in response, giving Vaherianslyeri a serious nod. "I'm sorry, honey." She tapped the tip of her finger with hers, nodding again. "I just hope you can forgive me."
A beat passed before Amelia lifted her gaze back to Tibarn, noticeably more uncertain now. "...I'm sorry." She paused. The General smoothed her hair off of her face and took in a deep breath, releasing it slowly. "Make sure to remind me later that the extra bedrest is my own fault, too, could you?" She looked back to Vaherianslyeri before gently reclaiming her leg. Her voice remained small as she spoke up again to the Hawk King, looking tiny in front of him, even in all her armor. "Could... you do me a favor and help me check it when we get back, though?"
