As Professor Blue passed, West might have sneered just a little bit. Tiny. Bit. He couldn't help it. Boring, boring, boring. Between his fellow students getting blissed out on violin music of all things, to, well, instruments, West was left nearly screaming with frustrated boredom once all of the papers had been collected.
He brightened considerably in response to what the professor said next, however. It seemed he was being given permission to kick that Jack damn music stand's a**. Surely that's what Blue meant by asking him to retrieve the sheets and move the stand, right? He eyed the growling creature. No one could hope to move that thing without knocking it around a little first to get it to shut up. A more cautious demon might have been reluctant to approach the maiming menace, but West was out for blood and wasn't one for thinking clearly on his best days.
Hopping to his feet, West hissed, "I'm nottachicken," at the older demon before hurrying to the front of the room.
The stand seemed angry, way angrier than it had been when it had first pulled one over on West. This time it would not prevail. He circled the thing, eyes narrowed. Now how was he going to ensure his epic victory? West continued circling, losing all sense of his surroundings, his concentration centered on the grumbling stand. After half a minute of this, West stopped. He seemed to have found what he was looking for.
The wrath demon was silent and still, then suddenly he crouched slightly, kicking out his right foot with all his might. The stand toppled over onto what could only be described as its face and West's hand shot out, grabbing the thing at its base and raising it above his head like some sort of slavering trophy. The remaining instrument assignment papers went flying, the majority landing with a thunk in a more or less neat pile, while the rest fluttered like Christmas Town snow around the boil and his quarry.
West merrily toted the stand to the back of the stage, dropping it to the ground a little harder than was necessary. He returned to the now-messy stack of blank papers and gathered them up as neatly as he could before they were transferred to a pile next to the stand. West stood attentively with his right fist balled at his side (his left hand just kind of hung there), awaiting the professor's next words.
That had been awesome. Well played, Professor Blue, well played.

While Prof. Blue picked up the papers, Rosc considered the questions he had in the back of his mind. How to ask them and if he should at all. One classmate had asked if he could provide strings for a sitar, but the answer had been vague at best. It would be easier to get new strings here rather than having them sent to him, but then he also trusted the music store owner near Nic's home more, since he had been fairly reliable in the past when it came to supplying the young incubus with new strings and replacement bows. The former being the more often of the two, since most of his chosen pieces put a greater strain on the strings than softer ones did. He just liked the sound the double-bass bow produced.
He removed his uninjured hand from his pocket and raised it into the air. "Professor, will there be some creative leeway during this course, for example using a different type of bow on the string instruments to produce a different sound?" he asked, making sure to get it in while the other demon was wrestling with the music stand and be loud enough to be heard over that.

Oh sweet jack, had his eyes been that amazing the first time she'd seen him? Professor Blue was one fine specimen of a demon, Sin leaned forward a bit more. Oh she wanted to play the harp so badly, her fingers twitched a little as she imagined running them lovingly over the strings. The harp was an instrument that produced the most beautiful music but also required care to play. She had seen fingers bloodied from incorrect play, and a snapped string could cause an injury worse then any from a battle. Still it was worth it to be patient and learn because that music was so soft and enchanting anyone would love it. As she had been leaning forward and dreaming of her instrument of choice her dress began to strain a bit, the perils and profits of wearing tight revealing styles.

Blue had been watching as West wrestled with the music stand until a student had screamed like someone caught his attention with their hand in the hair. His blue eye had caught it first and slowly his head directed itself to Rosciel. He listened and smiled, this was certainly a question the professor appreciated.
"Most certainly. I approve of students using different strings or associated objects with their instrument. So long as someone isn't trying to bang a drum with a violin bow."
Drums. Professor Blue turned his head back to West with a very pleased expression on his face as he not only took on the music stand, but successfully beat it. This demon could clearly give out a good beating, which lead Blue to assume he would be good on the drums. Hopefully he could give that a good beat and keep it up.
"Very good job," he said to West, motioning him to wait over with the rest of the class.
As he directed West to the rest of the class he had noticed Sin who looked more like a young adult than a child at the moment. Why would anyone wear such a tight... he shook his head. Anyone able to wear such a tight outfit surely had lungs of steel. He made a three marks on the sheet of paper he had been holding in his arms before he walked over to one of the curtains hanging down from the ceiling. He pulled it aside to reveal a closet. A rather wide and tall closet. Did he keep torture tools in there? Probably, but he also had instruments stored inside.
"Okay class," he announced, making sure everyone was paying attention.
"I am going to call out your name and the instrument you will be playing. After I do, please come up and get it from me. Free free to experiment with the instrument and wait for further instructions while I get all the instruments out to the class."
He looked at his list and pulled out the first instrument from the closet. It wasn't a very difficult item to pull out. After a moment he called off the list: player followed by instrument.
Alcyone - Triangle Alwine - Cello Amrita - Cello Arachne - Saxophone Bartholomew - Tuba Belladonna - Drums Calder - Harmonica Christof - Cello Cyrilla - French Horn Elizabeth - Harp Gabrian - Bagpipes Hadiyya - Trumpet Ilztmyr'ree - Piccalo Israfel - Vocals Jack - Conch Junko - Piano Livius - Violin Lucien - Tambourine Renaissance - Bagpipes Rosciel - Harp Sepheran - Violin Sharra - Piano Sin - Trumpet Tahki - Bagpipes Unstabul - Drums West - Drums Ziyah - Kazoo
Frankly, pulling two pianos out of the closet wasn't the easiest of tasks, but the closet almost seemed like a bottomless pit. Where in the world was he pulling them from? When he got tot he bagpipes it seemed kind of ironic that both Gabrian and Renaissance both had gotten the bagpipes. Did the professor keep them together on purpose?
(( Roleplay your student coming up and getting the instrument they were assigned and reacting. Keep in mind there will be a chance to change instruments later on in the class (probably) so if your student got an instrument they don't like then they will just have to character build for now. ))

As West completed his battle with the music stand and their professor stepped forward again with his list Yaya sat up a little straighter, sliding to the edge of her chair eagerly. Surely she'd be assigned to something she excelled at, or at the very least knew how to play. She had put down a rather diverse listing of preferred instruments after all.
Cellos, harps, and even drums were called in reference to others, and the djinn watched as one by one people moved up to claim their instrument.
And then Professor Blue called her name, she got to her feet, took two steps towards him, then heard what she was playing and stopped so abruptly she nearly toppled over. Trumpet? TRUMPET?! She hadn't even put a number next to the accursed brass horn! She had no clue how to play the jack damned thing.
Hesitantly she moved forward with wide, slightly outraged eyes, though she wisely kept her gaze directed down, and not up at their teacher as she held her hand out for the horn. Once features were schooled into near neutrality she looked up again, lips parting as if she were about to speak, then closed them again into a deep, thoughtful frown. Clearly thinking better of her urge to argue with him.
Holding the trumpet as gingerly as possible Yaya retreated back to her seat, setting the instrument down by her feet as she sat. Turning her attention out into the classroom to see what the others were assigned and steadily her mood deteriorated as her classmates either received something she'd be more apt to play, or were just as miss matched as she.
By the end of it she wondered vaguely where such instruments as the Bells, or others on the list had gone to.

Arachne wondered what was the point of the paper with their instrumental preferences if their Professor was just going to arbitrarily hand out any old instrument. She'd purposely put those that would need to use her mouth at the bottom as she didn't want to puff and blow only to raise some little squeak.
So when he called her name and handed her the large, metal instrument with baffling keys she was too stunned to even say anything and just headed back to her seat without a word.

Barth physically wilted as his instrument was called out.
It took him long enough to get to the closet. Walking. Once there, he just...looked at the enormous instrument in front of him. Heavy to hold, hard to blow, and he had to pay attention to the fiddly bits while he did it.
He looked at the teacher, sucked his damaged claw one last time, then reluctantly grasped the tuba.
His feet scrabbled comically as he attempted to lift it without actually straining any of his muscles. He tried from a different angle. The problem was that he hated picking up things like pens, or wall plugs, or soda cans. An entire tuba just was not within his very limited lifting skill range. He gave up, looking pitiful as possible, then slumped onto the mahogany. He hadn't expected to run into species discrimination from another demon.
"I'll err, just play it here on the floor, shall I?"

Despite not getting her first choice, Alwine practically glowed with gratitude. The cello was an elegant stringed instrument, capable of make beautiful low notes that could create FEAR with its sound alone.
Alwine moved her hand away from the kittens and raised her shoulders up to show her happiness. "I would love to get to know them, if you do not mind. They seem quite darling!"
The haunt turned around and practically glided over to the door, pausing to give the Professor an appreciative glance (though he probably couldn't see it). He was so enchanting.
"Thank you, thank you so much..." she said as she moved to pick up the large case.

Her name predictably came up last - such was the wonder of a name as unusual as her own, and she got up from her desk to retrieve her instrument after being called forth.
Kazoo ? She had no idea what that even was !
That is, until she was handed a small, somewhat odd object.
Oh.
that was a kazoo. Ziyah wasn't sure how she felt about this. "Thank you, professor." She did say, though, as she went back to her desk.
So many students. She didn't really like being around so many other people...

A harp?
Well, at least it wasn't am unfamiliar wind instrument - that would be terrible! Raising from her seat, she made her way to the closet, bowing politely at the Professor as she took the harp from him. It was small enough for her to hold, and she heaved a sigh of relief; for a moment, she thought she would have to play a concert harp! While she had little experience with the harp, at least she knew how to play it. Sort of... As long as the Professor don't make her play anything too difficult.
"Thank you, Professor," She managed together with a smile smile as she returned to her seat, instrument held carefully in her arms. Once seated, she sat the Harp down on her lap and ran a finger across the strings as gently as she could before eying her guitar case; would bringing that be for naught after all?
As the white-haired Reaper went to take his instrument, she tilted her head at him; she can't remember what he had on his list, but she was pretty sure that the flute was top 10. Offering Myr a small and thoughtful smile, she lifted a hand to gesture at his instrument, "At least it has the same fingerings as the flute." She then beamed at Sepheran when his name was called, "Ah, you got the violin!"

A piano? Ah well, at least the instrument didn't inspire terror in his very core. He actually knew something about the thing, though he wasn't entirely sure as to how his teacher planned to hand it to him. Hopefully there was to be something a touch more portable? Maybe? Well all right, probably not...this teacher seemed keen on doing things the hard way.
The nergal boil made his way up, and scooted the piano over to his side of the classroom...oh this was going to be all kinds of fun. At least West hadn't lost any digits to the music stand, though his little tussle with it had been interesting, to say the least...the wrath demon probably needed to get it out of his system. Sighing, he ran his fingers over the keys of the piano without ever pressing a one, awaiting instructions. Turning to the djinn, who looked rather gloomy about her own instrument, he touched her arm with a hand, smiling reassuringly. It could have been worse, after all...though Sharra was NOT looking forward to hearing the cacophony that would be the first attempts of all these inexperienced musicians.

Sin was pulled out of her reverie her fingers had been plucking the strings of an imaginary harp so when she was given the trumpted?! She was a bit shocked, she couldn't really even summon up a proper argument. She noticed the lovely water demon, who had invited her to a party on groanspring, had also been saddled with a trumpet. She flashed her a quick look of pity sharing her lamentations with someone over this bit of brass.
Still it wasn't like she couldn't blow right? Her fingers were nimble enough, she would take this stupid instrument and manage it. Once she did though she hoped she could turn it in and be switched to the harp...the harp she adore-was that Rosc? Rosc was on the harp!? Ugh the injustice! She wondered where on his preference list the beautiful stringed instrument had been. She knew the trumpet was low on her list...with good reason, she disliked the puffy cheeked blowing required of most wind instruments.

The bagpipes?
....no, really, the bagpipes? Ren stared at the professor, momentarily flummoxed. What kind of an joke was THIS? He couldn't even recall putting a number by the things, and if he had, it would have been lower on the list than most. Out of all of the instruments to have been called to get, he had to have been called for the BAGPIPES.
"Thank you," he mumbled to Professor Blue, holding the instrument away from him as if it were something contagious. Scowling at the...thing...Ren made his way back to his seat beside Gabrian, slumping down at the desk and casting a glance over at the nix.
"Is it just me, or are the bagpipes the most obscure, useless instrument in this entire room?"

Cyrilla listened carefully as the names were called and instruments assigned. When Professor Blue read her name, and instrument, she wrinkled her nose a bit. She didn't know, really, what a French Horn even was. When she got up and took it, she thought it looked a bit like a twisted up trumpet. Which wasn't so bad. It could have been worse, she could have been playing a Conch shell.
She still wasn't sure how exactly that would work, and as she continued to listen to the list, she was almost grateful to hear that someone would be using that particular instrument. At least she'd get to see it in play.
When the list had finished being read off, she turned the horn over in her hands, and poked at it. It was gold in colour, and she had to refrain from taking a bite out of it. She was more than certain it wasn't actually gold. Some sort of brass maybe. It was shiny, nonetheless, and she enjoyed that much.
Now.
How to make it make sound...
It only took a moment or two for the dracolich to piece it together, and not being someone to just sit around idly and wait, she took a deep breath and blew into the piece, resulting in a loud "BRRRRAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP" noise that caused her to yelp and glare at the instrument. Her headfins pinned back and her eyes narrowed.
Well, that didn't go well.

Huh. Bagpipes.
That was... interesting? Out of lack for better word. In fact, Gabrian felt mild confused over the instruments their professor seemed to be assigning the students. Judging by most of their expressions, they had not ranked the instruments they'd gotten very high up on that list of theirs. He knew nothing about bagpipes himself, though he was well aware they some nixes did use them. Did kelpies use them too?
Did it really even matter?
Shrugging slightly to himself, Gabrian pushed himself out of his seat and walked forth to take the instrument offered, "I was wondering, Proffesor... are these the instruments assigned to us for the duration of the year, or will we get to exchange them for others?" while it was true that he would have rather used a violin, learning a new instrument was never something bad as far as the nix was concerned.
Taking the bagpipes, he strolled back to his seat, passing by poor Barth whom really looked like he needed a bit of help, "Do you er... need some help there?" he then turned to Ren and offered him a smirk, "Could be worse, Ren. You could have gotten the conch. Or the triangle," a pause as he lifted his instrument and started at it blankly, making it obvious that despite his words... he had no idea what the jacking hell to do with the thing.
