((*sigh* I'm back. VIRUSES ARE SUCH A PAIN!!!!)) Hiru didn't care what the girl was saying. She was his ticket to survival. Wherever she went, he was going to follow. Unless she decided to lose him - then he was screwed. If only he knew the power growing inside him, he would be virtually fearless, and probably arrogant.
As the boy came romping up to them, Hiru cocked an eyebrow at him, perplexed by his ability to.... well, romp and such, with blinds over his eyes. He had some kind of sixth sense, this boy. It was as if he knew everything around him, yet he knew nothing about the world. To know everything, yet know nothing. What kind of person was this? Whoever he was, he surely didn't have a clue what was going on. Either that, or he simply didn't care.
Hiru listened as the girl scolded the boy. He could tell by her tone that that's what she was doing. The boy seemed to be a bit older than her. Yet Hiru was older than the both of them. Well, probably. There wasn't any way to tell in this dimension. Everywhere he went, every new world, time was always different. Hiru stared down at the ground as he experienced a moment of self-reflection. He didn't know how old he was anymore. Once, he went from a world where the earthly season was mid-spring, to a world at the begining of winter. Also, the days were a little bit shorter. It seemed that each world he went to, the days just got shorter and shorter.
Lost in thought of his childhood days on that tiny, beached island, he began to let his subconscious take over. The moment this happened, his skin began to crawl. From within each of the numerous holes in his body - the wounds that have failed to do so much as slow him down - a single tentacle sprouted from the flesh. One tentacle per hole, each resembling the root of a tree. Hiru continued to stare at the ground as they writhed from his wounds, jutting out almost six inches a-piece.
Shortly thereafter, the root-like appendages began to split at the ends, then proceeded to flatten themselves against his outer skin, sealing each wound simultaneously. This was accompanied by a wave of sick, popping noises, like bones cracking into place. Still, Hiru remained lost in his world. Not for one moment did he seem to notice what was happening to him.((P.S. - I'm particularly proud of the "One tentacle per hole...." part. wink Second-to-last paragraph.))

Kyo just tilted his head the other way, raising an eyebrow. "Battle huh? Psh, those stupid bugbears they call soldiers couldn't hold a candle to this Kyoshiro." He grinned, flopping backwards and sitting on the grass, looking right at them though he shouldn't have been able to. "Who're you?" He asked, pointing at them both, index and middle fingers separated to point at each of them at the same time.

"Yeah. Well, if they all swarm you and there's like, fifty to your one, you'll have no choice but to currender. Or be sliced into strips. I mean, if you want to become a bunch of human streamers, be my guest." Eda rolled her eyes, glancing over at the boy. She made a face as tentacle things popped out of his skin. She was slightly amazed, though, as they sealed up his wounds. She shrugged. That boy was nothing but rtouble, though he did have some really cool tricks. Like breaking all the bones in his body. Eda moved her eyes back to Kyo. "I'm Eda. And this. Well... He has no name. He doesn't speak our language. well, at least not much. Sometim es he can communicate. It's kind of hard to explain. Not hat I'm going to waste my breath explaining it to the likes of you, anyhow. He's folowing me around. So I'm kind of stuck with him unless I want the guilt of him dying on my shoulders. Besides." Eda looked over at him. "He's proven quite useful. but now it's time for us to get moving." Eda nudged the boy, who had seemed to dissapear within himself, even as he was sprouting and popping. She nodded towards the woods. They were going to get out of here. "Let's go hot shot." Eda put her hands on her hips. She wasn't sure wheer she could really go. She had lost her target, and she had a boy with crazy abilities in tow. Towns were probably too risky. Maybe they could create some kind of small camp deep in the woods where soldiers wouldn't spot them. Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference? ((Beehhh Sorruy you guys. I'M DRAGING YOU ALL BACK, NOW!))

Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN
Hiru snapped out of his daze when the girl nudged him. The spot where she touched him sprouted another tentacle, this one more lively than the healers. It thrashed at her, but receded back into him after a few seconds. He looked down at the spot where it had been, and slowly, his eyes widened as if in fear. It was finally beginning to dawn on him that his body was swarming with the things. They were almost completely gone, only three of them remaining exposed. It didn't matter how many there were, though. He had never seen them before, and even if he had, they still wouldn't be welcome.
Hiru was panicking, but it was in his own, quiet way. Trembling, he reached down for one of the tentacles. It quickly receded into him, sealing back over the wound. The other two immediately followed, and his body was back to normal. In his own quiet way, he was screaming bloody-murder to the high heavens.
Hiru looked at the girl. She was.... not running? If it were Hiru and he had seen that, he would've burst into an all-out sprint. Yet, she didn't appear to be all that worried about his condition. There was something living inside of him, crawling through his body against his will, and yet this girl continued to beckon impatiently for him to follow her. Seriously, any sane person would have to draw the line somewhere. Apparently, she wasn't sane.
Hiru's eyes had begun to revert back to their normal color. However, this time, instead of the usual golden hue, his eyes turned blood-red, and the texture of his skin became harder, like stone. The demon was emerging, and it was making itself right at home inside of him. Yet, despite the over-taking of Hiru's body, the demon had not made a single change to the overall look of Hiru's outer skin. His size and shape, skin color, even muscle tone were exactly the same as before. Not one thing was changed. The only difference was the texture of the skin - especially where the flesh had been replaced over the wounds - and the color of his eyes. Behind them, Hiru could still see what was happening, yet he could not seem to make himself move. Was he truly this frozen by fear?
Perhaps. Or, perhaps, the demon itself was taking control. Everything looked red behind the eyes of the demon. Being a creature from a different realm, one would think that it would have trouble moving him. On the contrary, it shifted his weight perfectly into a standing position, offered a friendly grin, and spoke to the girl in her own language. "Yes, we should get moving." This demon.... had it done this before?

Eda nodded, hearing the boy's words. "It's da-" She stopped and did a double take. He was changed. His skin looekd different, though she couldn't place how, and maybe taht was only because of the weird tentacle healing thing he had done before. But his eyes. His eyes were red. She had seen people with red eyes before, of course, but she could have sworn his eyes were softer. Different. Though now, looking at these red eyes, she couldn't remember what color his eyes were before. Maybe her mind was making everything up? Her head was probably just messing with her. But he had spoke her language. He had made it quite clear before that he did not speak her language. But now... He was. Normally she wouldn't have pushed the envelope, she would have just gotten to a safe spot, then asked her questions. But now was different. She needed an answer. This just wasn't normal. Was it? She turned towards him, her arms folding. Her brows furrowed a bit, and she leaned in a bit towards him, looking him over for a moment. "How are you talking to me? You speak a different language." She challenged. "Dude. If you were lying to me the entire time about not speaking my language. I think I should just leave you here to rot. Not that I don't do my own share of lying. But you nearly had bad things happen to you and to me because we couldn't communicate. What's going on?" She doubted he was lying. Even though she never really talked to him, she could just tell. By the way he clung to her, expecially. As if if she left him, he would die on the spot. Liars didn't usually do that sort of thing. Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference?

Everything is red....
....in the eyes of a demoN s**t....
The Death Keeper had made a fatal error in taking control of Hiru's body. It had forgotten the human ability to associate. And this mortal's ability was sharp. It had only taken her a second to realise what had happened. Even if she didn't understand why. Perhaps that was why she was now interrogating Hiru's body. There was only one thing to do; the demon had to buy some time. It couldn't explain itself and reveal its reason for taking his body, revealing all of its secrets.
The demon itself had previously used hundreds of thousands of languages, 90% of which were pushed out of its memory by new languages. Hers was one of the few it was lucky to still have a hold of. Listening to her and others nearby speaking to Hiru had slowly jarred the demon's memory back. Finally, once it went to use the language, it suddenly fell into a hole it did not remember digging.
Hiru's expression turned serious as the girl approached him, the demon not wanting to reveal too much at once. In fact, it didn't want to reveal anything at all. But, it just might be too late for that. Truthfully, the demon had revealed an oddity by healing Hiru's wounds and replacing bits of clothing with itself. Slowly, its new shell was becoming stronger with every injury it suffered.
This girl had seen the process of replacement, although she likely had mistaken it for some sort of healing technique. No matter, it would tell her that it was a half-demon, and its demonic flesh she had seen before. It would tell her that it was an alternate personality, a life split in two. The one she was currently speaking to happened to know her language.
"I can explain it to you when we are safe. We need to be quick and silent if we are to travel undetected. Now please...." The demon traced back through Hiru's most recent memories. Truthfully, Hiru's memories were not the demon's, yet. Once the bonding and replacing process was complete, then it would know all that Hiru knows.
For now, it had to pick his mind apart one piece at a time. And it soon found just what it was looking for; the female's name. She had spoken it to him earlier when they had met. Yet, Hiru had failed to return the offer of his own name. It would take this into consideration when lying to her in the future. "Eda, we have to move now. We are still out in the open."

Eda's face was still skeptical, but her eyes betrayed her as the glanced over her shoulder. She paused, not speakibng for a moment. Listening yet again for any clinking of armor or footsteps. There was none. Her eyes went back to the boy. Though he had used her name, she had yet to learn of his. "Fine." She said finally, unfolding her arms. Her hand rested close to her knife. She found her old tendancies coming back. Cautious, skeptical, theiving tendancies. Eda nodded towards the forest ahead, turning away from him finally. "I know little about these woods." She admitted finally. "But I do know where a broken down resthouse is, and where the watchment's quarters are. I'll take you to them camp, then I'll do my thing and get us some supplies, alright?" Eda wasn't too excited with the idea of having this boy behind her back while she walked, but that was the way it had to be. "Unless you have any better ideas." That, Eda doubted. But, hey, he had shown a fair share of surprises, that was for sure. "Your name." Eda said suddenly. "I didn't get your name. If I'm supposed to trust you and lend you my knowledge, I'd at least like to have someone to blame if everything crashes and burns." She watched him out of the corner of her eye. Liars are all around you... ...Can you tell the difference?
