"It seems she recovered quicker than anticipated," Aydan muttered eying the fluff ball critically. "Sonja...what is this and where did you find it?"
"She's just a baby and she was all alone...I couldn't just leave her out there." The mare said nuzzling the cub, which seemed to affectionately return the sentiments. "Oh, and I think she's hungry, what do baby mountain lions eat?"

Was it possible to have a stroke so soon after losing so much blood? Aydan didn't think it was likely, but he couldn't roll anything out right at that second. "Mountain...lion..."
"Cub," Sonja finished for him. "And look at her, she's just a little doll!" She giggled as the cub tottled over towards Velika and ran around the other mare's feet.

"Sonja...." Aydan started slowly, trying to remain calm. "It's a mountain lion cub. It has sharp fangs and teeth. It eats meat. It's dangerous."
Sonja frowned and shook her head, "Aydan, how can you say that? She's just a baby and she just adores us! Look...she even likes you." The baby was slowly making her way over towards Aydan.

"That's just a concidence, it doesn't mean it was fated to be." Aydan watched the cub warily, "It's probably attracted by the scent of the blood..."
Sonja pouted, "Oh Aydan, she's not so bad. I'm sure she's expressing a genuine concern for you." She giggled as the cub started licking his bandaged leg. "Or she likes her meat rare..." she said softly.

Sonja carefully pulled the cub back, the creature then deciding to curl up around her legs, "See, she really is just a sweet little thing, Aydan. Come on, can we keep her? Please? Please, please, please, PLEASE!"
Aydan frowned and eyed his now slightly drooled on leg. The creature was dangerous...why was he the only one aware of that?

"She could be helpful," Velika added. "She could be like a guard lion when she gets older."

"Yeah!" Sonja agreed quickly. "She could be a guard lion, alert us to dangers, watch over us while we sleep..."
Aydan didn't think he'd be able to sleep peacefully with the lion around bbut he sensed he was quickly being out numbered. He really didn't want to do this but... "We'll try it...for just a little. But the first little nib and she's gone," he said trying to sound firm.

"Absolutely!" Sonja beamed nuzzling the cub. "Thank you Aydan! This is going to be great - you won't regret it!"
Aydan cringed hoping that he wouldn't regret it. "Well..maybe we should get moving," he cringed as he pushed himself to his feet. "Before we adopt any more dangerous creatures."

"Doesn't matter," he said limping slightly. "I don't want to stay here any longer than we have to. Are you two ok to go now?"
Sonja eyed him critically, "Maybe we could just walk along for a little while?" She turned to Velika, "Do you think that would be easier on him?"
