"But.. but there's no huge mountains or deep waters! And it's a straight way so it'll be fast. Most of us have bells too, with a couple of weapons. We can do it," she paused, searching for any other excuse, "We.. we could even take a safer path home to even it out!" She was pulling whatever she could out to get the road some credit.
She didn't think there was any hope now though, what with losing someone already and the basic fact that these trees were scary enough.
Rain's suggestion made her insides churn. Two slow paths.. both mountain climbing and bridge crossing?!
She waddled away back to her eating place, shoving the snow she was holding onto in her mouth. This was just so hard.

"Then we have no choice. We must take Merope by force and drag him up the mountain." She punched the flat of her hand with a balled fist for added emphasis. Rain found herself wondering if she should consider the middle path, despite the danger.

Harperking Chibizoo Harperking "Swim back?" Igneous felt faint at the thought. "I don't think that would work well for me, either! The last time I tried to swim I didn't do too well" In actuality she had sunk like the stone she was made from - it had been quite the effort to get her unstuck from the mud at the bottom of the pond! "Perhaps they will find some safer way of travel on wheels? Or maybe get the amulets working again?" She peered up at the leviathan in some amazement. She never imagined her classmates could have been so... BIG! "Hey there! You lost?" A friendly tree has appeared behind you! It wishes to hug you in painfully happy ways! HP: 3Total damage to Igneous: 0 Igneous whirled around at the voice behind her. Another tree! What was this? Some demented happy version of Breck's shed? Maybe some of his seeds had escaped and been warped here somehow! She skittered back from it's reaching branches, nearly losing her footing on the slippery stuff on the ground. Another step and she did fall, scrambling to find something with which to defend herself. All she could find was the frozen stuff so she threw two handfuls of it in hopes it would at least blind the tree enough to let her get back to her feet. Igneous HP: 25 Tree HP: 3-1= 2 "Aww.. dont you want to be my friend?" The friendly tree scoots closer, branches outreached, in what appears to be the gestures of a hug, or a death grip. Tree HP: 2 Total damage: 0

Aside from making a nice, satisfying THUMP sound, banging his head against the tree didn't do anything. He hissed a watery sigh and turned away. He was tired of this place. He was tired of being treated like an object, from when he first arrived on campus and being placed in quarantine for Fear acclimation to the train. He needed to go to the water. How could they understand that he felt weak and vulnerable on land? He didn't care if it was iced over like Rain suggested it was -- could he break a hole in the ice? Probably not, but he could at least slide across it.
He pushed that thought aside, snorting to himself. "Land sucks," he grumbled. It was all right when he had two legs, he'd admit. But on all fours when you're built for swimming? Ugh.
The dragon continued to stomp his way over bushes, twigs and branches snapping under his feet. He stilled as he heard someone call hi- no. Wait. They just wanted his dice. He huffed in annoyance and continued on.

"Why are all the trees drunk?" Hedera-Rose asked in a wonderfully terrified tone, still stuck in her midway form. She seemed a little detatched from reality-but the rush given when she changed to natural form was half-stuck, so she had a reason to be. "Ohgoshcrazytree!" she then squeaked, backpedaling several steps away from Igneous.
"Wait," she furrowed her brow, "so we need to go find...Merope...and drag him up the mountain? How are we going to drag a dragon up a mountain? Wouldn't that be hard?" Way to state the mildly obvious, Hedera!

Julian was suddenly in human form again and he looked absolutely terrified. Eyes wide, feather ruffled, even his hands were trembling.
"Bl-blindfold me, or put me t-to sleep or s-something. Otherwise, bad things will happen if I g-get anywhere near water deeper than a p-p-punchbowl," he said, his voice shaking. How could he even get within sight of the lake when just the thought of them upset him so? He wasn't sure what was worse, knowing what would happen if he was put into water or what might have happened if his older brother hadn't tossed him into the lake as a game, if they hadn't learned that his feathers made it impossible to keep above the surface in whichever form.
And then Rain said they'd drag Merope up the mountain. Which was a bit of a plus for him, but he hated that it came at the expense of another... Only Merope was out of sight by then.
This wasn't going well.

Hedera brought up a valid point. They would not be able to take Merope by force. They'd have to figure out another way to get him back. They needed to work together again.
What if... no.. she couldn't. She'd be taking a pretty big risk but sacrifices had to be made, right? "Merope," she called out at the top of her lungs, "If you can hear me, I need your assistance. I seem to have broken a leg and I can't walk anymore!"
She walked over to the nearest tree and checked the strength of it. It had to be small but sturdy. After a good lookover, she decided it would do the trick just fine. Walking a few feet back, she crouched down to the ground. Without her natural ability, she couldn't pounce very far, but she could still get a good jump in. Without giving it another thought, for to do so would surely lead to her backing out, she launched herself towards the tree. As she neared, she stuck a lone leg out and let it take the full impact of the hit, her body nearly wrapping around it before plopping to the ground.
She rolled over to look at her handy work. The leg was bent in at a gross angle and certainly hurt but not broken. Dammit! Without her natural abilities, she lacked the force required to actually break her leg. Nothing seemed to be going her way. Using the tree to pull herself up, she limped back to the group and tried to pretend nothing happened.
"Julian, we could cover your eyes, or carry you if you're in your bird form. I'm sure one of us could carry you on our back even if not. We wouldn't leave you alone. We won't let you get hurt." She knew it wasn't much but her offer was genuine.
"I need to ask a favor of you guys and it's not going to be easy. I need one of you to break my leg. Preferably this one," she tapped her right leg, the one that was already injured.

Why couldn't he just stay normal for five minutes? JUST FIVE MINUTES? Because as soon as Rain limped back over to the rest of them, he popped back into owl form. He let out a frustrated screech which almost sounded like someone strangling a cat, bending over a bit so that he could fling his wings about in an enraged flail.
He settled back into fluffy and bothered, looking up at the undead ghoul. Her offer was just so nice, he really couldn't argue with it. His shoulders slumped and he dipped his head in a small nod, acknowledging that it was the only option. He would just try to keep it together.
He spread his wings and propelled himself into the air, taking his lights with him, landing on a branch so that he could catch sight of Merope. If he was going to be stuck more often as a bird than as a boil, the least he could do is play lookout.

Tsetsiliya had tromped around at the back of the group and clutching her wreath with a vice grip that would have normally gone to her sickle charm. The attacking trees made her issue a loud squeak as the students they were after charged into battle. She was starting to feel weak again, the throbbing in her head from the crash constant.
Then there came a debate on where to go; it didn't matter to the poludnica which way they went as long as they kept moving (for fear of more attacking trees, or something worse). Then the debate turned to arguing.. and one left while Rain barricaded herself in a tent for a short time. She watched anxiously as Merope moved off on his own, and tensions continued to run high. This is not how it should be at all! They should stay together! There was safety in numbers!
Tsetsiliya had to admit that her heart went out to the stressed-beyond-belief undead. They were being awfully dependent on her, and now that they were divided, she was certain that everyone was rather nervous. Luckily the conflict seemed to ease if only a little, but now they had to figure out what to do next.
She jumped when Rain had attempted to break her leg, and was shaking her head at the offer to actually break the limb. She didn't have the strength in her at the moment. But overall, she was feeling like she wasn't doing enough. Perhaps she could volunteer for the other offer. Now was not the time to be cowering in the back of the group!
"J-Julien, I would not mind if y-you would like --" but the boy, in owl form, had already soared to the trees. Be faster on the uptake next time, she chided herself. But there was no time to dwell on the issue now that two trees had sprung to life - one after the owled Julien, the other after the currently disabled Rain. "L-look out!"

A bird couldn't even land in a tree without having it grinning at him and being a general nuisance! In the surprise, he accidentally kicked his lights out of the tree, but he lashed out with his talons in angry retaliation.
Others might think this place was suppose to make you happy and all, but all this Christmastown was doing was giving him one big headache. He was absolutely ready to just GO HOME.
