Earendil nodded. "Yes ... that is true," he murmured softly in agreement. "But we'll see how he is, if he's the same or different when we get there again."
He led them up the stairs again. "Which reminds me ... how long has it been since you've ridden a horse, Lin?"

Lin thought about it, and winced at that thought. Ever since discovering the inhabitants of Nauros she had been very spoiled travel wise.
"Over six years, not since we initially left for our first voyage."
Which was way too long to be honest, the saddle sores she was going to get on this trip was not going to be fun.

"I thought so," Earendil murmured, smiling faintly. "It would be quite unpleasant for you to suddenly start riding for hours a day ... and Miyuki of course has never ridden before, and I don't recommend a trip like this for a pure beginner either ..."
He glanced down at Miyuki. "I was thinking, perhaps we could bring a cart of some sort, it would be better for the supplies as well ..."

Lin knew there was something she was going to have to teach Miyuki eventually, she had forgotten about that. Watching Miyuki staring at the guards she chuckled a bit.
"Yes, that would probably be better."
Honestly she couldn't imagine Miyuki now sitting on a horse for hours on end.
"It'll be a long trip too, that's something she isn't use to."

Earendil smiled and squeezed Lin's hand slightly. "We'll make it interesting for her," he promised her. "We always manage to make it interesting enough for us."
And really, Miyuki seemed like the type to be entertained by stories, which was good. And he was sure that the three of them would have plenty to do just getting used to becoming a family.

"Considering the most amazing things keep happening while we travel?"
Lin had to smile at that, though there was a grain of truth in what she said. They had become pretty much infamous for having strange things happen to them. Epic things...

"I still say the most epic thing that's ever happened when we were around - or even when we weren't around - was Leyenda disappearing and ending up married, and the fact that it actually worked out," Earendil chuckled. "I don't know if anything could ever top that."

"Just you wait..." Lin murmured, "You're tempting fate by saying something like that."
Not that she really believed in it (though sometimes she had to wonder).

"Tempting fate?" Earendil repeated, his brows rising in surprise. "Why ever would you say something like that? What could possibly happen on a trip like this? We're going to rebuild a city, after all."
They had been there before, they knew some of the people, what could possibly happen?

Lin shrugged, "You never know. Always expect the unexpected. Now that I know how to do that, but that's what I've been told."
Granted this advice came from her grandfather Long, who could be very unpredictable when it came down to it.

"Sounds like good advice," Earendil agreed as they approached his study, "though I'm not sure how one would go about expecting the unexpected. And I wouldn't know what not to expect from the trip. Let's look at this objectively: Rhea's been married two years, so she might have a child by now. Elros and Alena have been back together for what, a year and a half? So who knows what's going on with them by now. Aerin is queen, Caranthir is along as her guardian ... though he seemed so protective of her that it wouldn't really surprise me if he were courting her or something ..."

"Actually it wouldn't surprise me if they were married," Lin admitted.
The two reminded her so much of another childhood couple she knew, that there were times growing up she had to wonder. The two, she had later come to understand growing up had a relationship very similar to the way her parents and many other couples she knew worked. A relationship based on such tight understanding that their behaviour at times baffled children around them.

Earendil nodded. "I had been wondering about that, but I didn't want to assume too much. But considering that we don't even know anyone else there, so what could we even expect not to expect ... or however it goes?"

Lin giggled at that, she didn't really take that piece of advice too seriously. Just enough to know that one, be prepared and two, things could always happen.
"Who knows? Who knows how much it's changed? I mean... what does a society that had been oppressed for so long and then not suddenly not oppressed look like?"
She had been under the impression judging by Aerin's age that the king had been in rule for a very, very long time.

"No idea," Earendil admitted. "And we can find out more information once we're back there. And this time, we don't have to worry about stepping on people's toes."
It had been a bit awkward the last time, what with how the people had treated the king he had been unsure how to act around the man.
