I'm the best in my section, but I'm in second chair. All because I'm a sophomore. Sigh.

I'm the first chair first clarinet as a sophomore. I was second chair first clarinet last year, and the other two first clarinets were seniors. In the middle school, I used to be as good as two other clarinetists in my grade. (I think maybe one of them was better than me, but that's because he had been taking private lessons since third grade. XP) All of a sudden when I hit highschool, I guess I just grew more than them.

My director was always the biggest d**k to me and when I asked him why he told me that I was the best trumpet he had taught in a long time. IT kind of made me eel good but it did not make the bitching any better.

Nowhere near the best. I'm at the bottom of the line.

well...if being 1st chair is best then yeah i am in the trumpet section here....but i dont consider myself the best in my section. I mean i get all the notes and rythms...but i always have something that i can work on and that someone in my section will be better at doing than myself.

Parmesan-Garlic Cheez-It I'm the one who tunes the section, they ask me to play measures they're uncertain about, they ask me questions, I'm always complimented... color]
that happens to me too. it's really weird though because i'm only 5th chair out of 8. i guess it's because i'm the first out of the lower four and they're too afraid to approach anybody above me. it's kind of funny though, because about a quarter of the things that they ask me i don't even know so i have to ask the forth chair and then she asks the third chair and it eventually gets up to the first chair.

Unonamous I just wanted to know how many people are going to the same thing I'm going through.Everyone complimenting you, always telling you you're the best and your band directors always expecting more out of you. I mean I'm only a freshman I've not had as much musical experience as much as the only trumpets in my section. That was me last year, actually. Now that I'm a freshman in high school with about 50 other clarinets though, the only reason the band directors know my name is because I'm 'that one girl who always makes us fix her instrument'. =D

I'm first chair in the sax section, so I guess I am the best. I seem to have the best tone, I'm the only one that uses vibrato, and I'm the only one who goes to things like honor band.
Saying all of that makes me sound really vane. xd
My BD gives me a lot more attention during band practice than most people in the band even. My band-mates get annoyed when I keep playing when band lets out. I can't help that I love playing so much. xp

In most of my bands, yes, 'cause I'm the first and the soloist. In concert band however, they guy ahead of me is scarily good and I just don't compare.

my section has six clarinets::two juniors, a sophomore, and three freshman. least i think one of the juniors isnt a senior. idrk. but anyway, me, the sophomore, and the juniors are pretty equal. we all take our turn on first, and we all take our turn on second, and i take mine on third. XD. last concert i had two firsts, two seconds, and a third, and they had alternating around that. this time, the two songs we have i have first for both. well, the one has four parts:: first, second, third, and solo ::and i have solo. =] its very exciting.

Yep, since we only have two alto saxophones in 8th grade, and the other has...mental problems. >_> (Seriously. He does. It's like autism, but not as bad, I think.) If you include the 7th grade saxophonist, she's okay, but I'm a lot better. (Wow, that sounds conceited. xd ) I get all first saxophone parts, the seventh grader gets a mix between 1 and 2, and the other 8th grader gets some first parts, but mostly second parts.
And my BD says that I'm the best in our whole school, but that'll change in high school... xd

I believe I'm the best in my section, but when I get in high school next year, no doubt Andy will kick muh butt. XD I really don't like saying that I'm the best,(Because I know I'm not) because it is indeed true, someone will always be better than you. XD
