Elan purred loudly, jumping up to perch on Amune's shoulder for a better view around them. He chirped cheerfully, snuggling close, not having had too much of a chance to explore himself, since he usually just stuck around other people. He glanced around. They were at the main levels, right now. A ways off to their left he could just barely spot the main staircase, leading to either the lower or upper levels.

********

Ahkra nodded, watching him curiously. All of the other students had left to go exploring the keep by now, and the two were alone. "Well," he told the boy, "you might be pleasantly surprised then, at the amount of reading material we have available for everyone." He gave a small grin, trying to be friendly. "And on top of that, if you ever want extra lessons, you can come to one of us after class." His eyes were drawn to Jackal's pockets as the boy's hands fumbled something inside of them, curious as to what it was. Already this boy was somewhat of an enigma to him.

********

Raien glanced back once, just to make sure that the boy was able to hold on, and took a leap into the air, wings stretching out to beat down powerfully over and over, as they slowly lifted up further. In just a few moments, it became easier as he caught the wind a bit further up beneath his wings, gliding towards the keep. At this height, it could easily be seen, nestled between the forest and foothills of a mountain range. The keep was enormous, even as far as castles go. It's stone was black, it's form sprawling. ~That's the school,~ Raien told him, his voice resonating in the boy's mind. He glided towards it, and as they got closer, angled his wings downwards to land. The landing was especially gentle, for the boy's sake, and Raien touched his nose to the large doors, which responded by opening soundlessly. He stepped in as the doors closed. ~We're here...~

********

Kael was a bit caught off guard by Acelin's sudden decision as the boy slid down the chute ahead of him. Without any hesitation, he jumped in afterwards, husky blue eyes straining to see ahead. The slide gave him an ominous feeling, but he didn't even once think of leaving Acelin. As he barely caught sight of Acelin and the landing below, he took a small breath, letting his wings out. The wings had a faint, blue-white glow to them like smoke in moonlight, each feather ghostly, catching the light like crystals, but seemingly as incorporeal as mist. However, they proved to be more solid than they appeared, as Kael opened them up as much as the narrow chute allowed, and slowed his decent. As the chute opened up into the room, his spread his large wings out to their fullest to catch the air, which just barely allowed him to land on his feet. He pulled Acelin close, concerned. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked worriedly, wings subconsciously wrapping around the boy. He had seen that Acelin had apparently crashed into the stone floor below, and he was worried the boy might be hurt.

Acelin layed on the ground a bit catching his breath as if he just came off a coaster. He was caught off gaurd by the hug more surprised by the solild wings. At the question Acelin looked up grinning. "Just fine." he said smiling as he looked around. Just like in his head, the room was dark, and it semed like no light could penetrate it. He closed his eyes but didn't hear anything. He walked as best he could keeping his hand against the wall.

His hand brushed against something it wasn't stone almost like iron. The sound resonated against the room, pounding against his head. Again he felt his mind repressing his memories. He closed his eyes as he forced the memories to come through. It felt like a force threw him against a wall, this time collapsing to his knees.

He stayed there his arms wrapped around himself shacking. He looked up at the chains, there he was kept prisoner down here. Someone kept him here, he didn't know who though. Through the impronment memories something pleasent came through. He whistled, it traveled through the area like a light wind. Soon a heavy a wind was felt and something seemed to be comming. An animal more of a person.

Soon something heavy landed, through the shadows, the object was darker, bigger. Almost like a bird, except different. A griffon. Acelin smiled at the creature, "Mona." he said as he held his hand out. The griffon smelled him before poking him lightly. Acelin smiled as he turned and walked back to Kael. "I don't know by who, but I was kept prisoner here. I don't know how long, it was here I learned my elements, the basics of my magic. Also where I met Mona." he said, 'Moan' being the name given to the griffon.

Kael held Acelin's hand in order to prevent them from being separated. He created a small sphere of light to follow them, but, though the light illuminated them, their surroundings remained in darkness, as if the darkness was attempting to stifle the small light.

The albino froze in worry and fear for the boy when he saw him collapse, but shortly after, Acelin seemed to regain his composure, and let out a whistle. When the breeze went past Kael, he could tell something was coming. Soon, that something was revealed. A griffon. It was hard to believe that a griffon was down here, but it just went to show how large this underground place must really be. "Mona," he said softly, testing the name. He frowned, hearing that Acelin had been a prisoner. "I can't possibly imagine any of the teachers here locking someone up down here. I think it's beyond us, too cruel. Among the immortals, the only ones I can envision doing that would be Omin, or his lackeys, the Lamente." He shuddered slightly; he'd had his history with the group, and had been trapped and tortured for too long.

Jackal raised a brow slightly, but inwardly the thought of being in that library the headmaster spoke of was enough to peak his interest. He was quite the studious young man, and books could never make him lose interest. If he really wanted he probably could finish reading the class books in a day or even two, but he would practice things within the confined pages.

"Extra lessons, eh?" He briefly repeated as a question as he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, and the lighter from the other. Placing the thin stick between his lips as he worked on getting the lighter to burn, "I might take that idea in the future, but we'll see." He managed to get it to ignite, then rose it to the tip of the cigarette.

"For a school, this is no average size... even for what appears as a magic boarding school. Ain't it a bit larger than most special schools?" He looked over to Ahkra again, a bit more fully with the lit cigarette between his lips.

Shin hung on when he was suddenly in the air on the dragon's back, still a bit startled that he had to be taken there this way. He didn't really like heights but he didn't want to say that either, the boy didn't want to be seen as a wimp any more than he might have been seen now. He had barely glimpsed the school in fear of heights, but he saw it for about three seconds at this height.

As he landed back on the ground in front of the large doors he felt a bit more at ease, but his heart was racing against the dragon's back. Shin stayed on his back while Raien was moving, and sat up slightly so he could see as they went inside. Looking straight up to see just how large the building itself was, and blinking in surprise. "It's... so big."

Ahkra raised an eyebrow at the cigarette, but didn't do anything about it. "I personally don't mind if you smoke, but I'd prefer if you didn't smoke around the other students, for the sake of their well-being. And also, please don't smoke around Kael. He's very sensitive to toxins." Poor Kael was so sensitive to his environment that even a strong incense could knock him off his feet.

"And, yes. If you see anything particularly interesting in one of the libraries, especially the main library, feel free to ask one of us if you are interested in learning it. Or if you think of anything else. At least one of us should be able to teach you just about anything you can ask, within the scope of your own potential."

He considered Jackal's comment on the school, and touched the black stone of the hallway wall in a familiar fashion, as if he and this keep had known each other for a long time. The stone was warm, as if this place itself were alive.

"This is a very special place," he said softly. "It's not just a school. It was standing long before I decided to take up residence here. It's sentient, powerful, and continuously evolving. It's a living thing. When I first came to this place, it was abandoned. Yet despite that, there were no flaws. The rooms were warm, and lights already in place. Some rooms were already fully furnished. Some, I haven't yet seen. I furnished the main level, where we are now, as a home for myself and Arc. It is absolutely dependable to hold back assault, which regularly occurs for us. Soon, some of the other Elements and Incarnations came to live here, and now almost all of them do. It's easily large enough, though, that I don't feel at all crowded. We've survived quite a bit, in these walls, and when I decided to open up a school, I thought that there could be no better place. Yes, it may be ridiculously large for a school, but it will easily house myself, Arc, all of the other Elements and Incarnations, and all of the students without crowding. And, more importantly than that, if attack comes again..." he trailed off a bit. "We'll be in the safest place we can be."

Jackal just nodded in comment to his smoking habits, but if need be he would sit by a window or even leave class if he had to for it. The nicotine wasn't just an addiction, but it was important for him to concentrate on things at hand no matter how odd they may be. It was the only thing that could ever keep him in control, and calm in any situation.

"You sound as if these people will start attacking the place more frequently because of the new additions to the castle." He raised a brow slightly, "But I suppose I couldn't blame the darker powers, wanting to rid the only source for the future. It seems only plausible.." Pursing his lips momentarily around the cigarette, somewhat clenching it, before letting out a sigh.

"Dark power," he mused quietly. "I suppose I know my fair share of it, and how those people act, especially how the power is seductive." Jackal's gaze moved off again, but his expression changed to a dull remembering-like look for him.

Raien let the boy down gently, and shifted back to his regular form, offering a small smile. "It is, but don't worry, you'll get used to it." He picked up Shin's luggage and led the boy through the great hall, with it's high arched ceiling and fireplace lounge, then through various corridors and up a flight of stairs before reaching a hallway with doors on either side. Counting three down, he opened the doors, which led into a magnificent bedroom. "This one is yours," he said, setting the boy's luggage down next to the bed. He was still concerned for Shin, too, since the boy hadn't seemed like he was doing too well when Raien had stumbled upon him. Raien hesitated a bit, then asked, "is there anything I can get for you, or do for you..? I know that the way here must have been fairly difficult...."

Acelin felt slightly weaker from the light that Kael produced but the darkness surrounding them seemed to act like a shield around Acelin, protecting him slightly. Mona nuzzled Acelin's cheeck as if saddedend by the fact that he was back down here. But the animal ould also tell there was something wrong with the boy as she let out a saddedend shriek. Acelin looked at Mona petting her with his free hand. "I don't remember clearly, but Mona was left down here by her mother who was being hunted by someone." he said sadly.

Even though Acelin was still holding onto Kael and with Mona, his nerves still didn't setlle right with him. He justed wanted out of there. He came what and gotten what he wanted and more. He didn't feel completely safe here then again with what he recalled from his past who could blame him?

He looked at Kael, "Can we go back now please?" he asked as he glanced back at Mona. "And would it be alright for Mona to came as well?" he wanted Mona out of here as well, he knew that animal shouldn't be locked down here for this long.It seemed right to get her away from this place.

"It's hard to say, but I know that there is no limit to how low they will go. Omin has killed my children, and he would delight in killing my students, if I let him, as well." He sighed, emerald eyes filled with a vast sadness, distant in midst of terrible memories. "The Black Arts..." he mumbled, distantly, referring to corrupted magic. "They are more dangerous than you might suspect. They will swallow you whole, sanity and all. Yes, the power is incredibly seductive. A sweet, sweet poison. But please keep in mind, whatever you wish to accomplish can be done in more than one way. You can use black magic, or you can use a virtuous power, such as fire, water, darkness, light, etc. One way will edge you closer to your own demise. The other won't."

Kael frowned worriedly, seeing Acelin's reaction to the light, and dimmed it a bit, so that they were cast into shadows, but at least could see where the other was. He held out a hand to Mona lightly, wondering if she would approve of him. He kept Acelin close, though, and hearing that the boy wanted to leave, he nodded, with a relieved sigh, glad that they could leave. "It's going to be difficult to go back through the chute. We'll probably have to find a different way. And of course, Mona can come with us." His eyes shifted, the husky blue paling to a near white, ringed in an indigo outline. He stared into the darkness, trying to decide which way to go. Feeling a slight breeze off to their right, he took Acelin's hand gently, and led the way.

Mona starred at the stranger and his hand, then too the boy. The boy approved of the stranger, and Mona could detect anything from him that would harm Acelin. She lowered her big head gently to the extended hand letting out a osft growl, similar to a lion's. At the mention of being able to forever leave the place she roared in pleasure, it was loud, that it felt like if the building wasn't tramendously turdy, it could shake it.

Acelin beamed when Kael allowed Mona to come but covered his ears against her roar. When Kael grabbed his hand pulling lightly he followed him as he led the way out. Actually Acelin couldn't remember how to get out himself so was relieved when Kael took the lead for him. In al honesty he was exhausted more so than he'd been in a while, and even though it would completely drain his remaining energy he was glad when he could be out of here even if it was the sun.

Kael smiled softly as the griffon lowered her head, gently reaching out to pet her cheek lightly. When Mona roared, however, even though it was in pleasure, Kael flinched a bit at the volume of the sound, his pointed ears sensitive.

As he led the way, the room seemed to open up into a large cavern, like the others, and Kael could just spot a staircase at the far end, which looked millennia old, and as if it could easily disintegrating at a touch. He was wary of the steps, but knew it was their best hope for getting out of here. "All right, let's try those stairs," he told Acelin. They needed to go up, since the chute had taken them into what was apparently the deep underground, and from what he could sense, there were no openings in the ceiling of the cavern which he and Mona could fly through. He did, however, hear the faintest hint of water running somewhere in here. An underground stream, or slow river, perhaps.

After a few minutes, they reached the winding staircase. It was probably a bit narrow for Mona's comfort, but she'd be able to climb it. Kael considered the aged stone which formed it for a moment, and touched it with one hand. The step he had touch crumbled. "That doesn't exactly look promising," he sighed. Summoning his power, he closed his eyes in concentration. It was as if time was rapidly rewinding for just the staircase. The fallen parts hovered back up to reattach, and the deep dust reunited with stone. The staircase regained its solidity, as if it, apart from everything else here, had been built just yesterday. He opened his eyes, which had a residual blue glow to them. He patted the now-solid staircase. "All right, it should be good, now." He led the way first, sliding his hand into Acelin's to keep the boy near him, and started up the staircase. When they reached the top, a door loomed before them. "This must be it." He reached the the doorknob, but it wouldn't turn. The door was locked from the other side.

Jackal listened carefully to what he had to say, but in his heart he wasn't so sure that normal black magic was the way to go. He never had luck with the magic at that level, but he only knew that it was seductive because he was so easily drawn to it. A user of the black arts, at least... on a minuscule amount. "Yeah, if you say so." He responded quietly.

He turned quiet, lowering his gaze to the floor in a slight guilty fashion, but inside a fire was burning so hot for the revenge of his family he didn't see any other way. Jackal was blinded, and he didn't know it. Pursing his lips, and biting into the cigarette before blowing the smoke out of his lips slowly, he closed his eyes.

"Is there... a chance that a user of the Black Arts wouldn't be so vile?" The tone of his voice suddenly changed from before, he was curious yet somehow scared of himself now.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 11, 2009 9:03 pm

Ahkra's expression softened, hearing the last comment. He pulled the boy close gently, looking straight into his eyes. "Jackal," he said softly, gently taking the cigarette out of the boy's mouth, just for a moment. "If I thought you were vile, you wouldn't be here right now." He leaned forward, intent on convincing him, and kissed the boy softly, sweetly. "If anything, I'm worried for you. They say, black magic invites misfortune. I simply couldn't stand to see such a sweet boy as you fall victim to it." He gently ran a hand through the boy's hair. Jackal seemed cold at first, but hearing his words waver, he knew that deep down, this boy truly was sweet. Not evil or sadistic, or anything characteristic of those who followed in the black arts. "All that I ask, my dear, is that while you are here, you explore the other magics. They can do anything you wish, as well, and in those I, and the others, can teach you."

On a whim, Ahkra put the cigarette to his own lips, inhaling, and winked, before handing the cigarette back.

"...black magic invites misfortune.

Jackal's eyes widened, it was like he barely noticed the fact the man had even kissed him, it was what the man said next that did. Clenching his teeth he now started to believe this was his fault for his past, but he was bottling all this hate for himself, not showing it. As Ahkra's hand went through his hair he shivered, trying to hide the thoughts in his head.

They were killed because of me, if black magic really... really does invite misfortune... I'm at fault for their deaths.] He thought coldly to himself, his shoulders quivered invisibly. "Yeah, I'll... take a look into the other magic to I guess. No harm in that..." His voice trailed off, and absently took his cigarette back from Ahkra.
