User ImageCyclone gave Riku a smirk.

"I'd join you, but then I'd be betraying my class," he said remembering was a freshman. Riku wouldn't dare prank me... and if he did, I'd show him why I'M King and HE'S a Rook. He thought. He put his sucker away looked at Riku. "Well if you want to do anything with me or have any other plans let me know?"

Riku nodded understanding, "I sometimes forget I sometimes follow the orders of a Freshman. But, you have to admit, some of them are spazzing about how they can spawn a fire ball, or get a peak under a skirt with their wind power. Nature herself can do that on a whim." Riku laid further back as a plate of food arrived in front of him. "Did I order something?" He asked with a blank look on his face, stealing the cookie that was on the meal. "Or have we developed a fanbase?" Riku joked. "Oh, and I'll let you know if I decide to do anything else, Cylon, I mean, Cyclone.

((OOC: Sucks dude... Maybe you could get yourself into the cafeteria somehow?))

User ImageFour terrified Freshman and one Sophomore couple later and Naoya felt himself refreshed if a bit famished. So after checking his watch and grimacing at the inhumanity of missed breakfast, he purposefully strode towards the staircase leading down to the cafeteria.

One characteristic of Naoya's had long perplexed and indeed frightened people. Upon entering a room, the past few moments of conversation could be recited perfectly by his smirking face. Leading some to think that he either had some hitherto unknown Psychic abilities, or that the tall Senior had a weird fetish for hiding behind doorways.
In reality it was by now a near unconscious application of his power. As soon as Naoya had his destination in mind, streams of air began gathering all the snatches of conversation along the way and traveled back to his ears. It was a technique that he had found invaluable before in the past in avoiding inopportune entrances and still served him the same way now as well as reinforce the 'respect' that his rank as Jack now commandeered.

"...bout tonight at nine on the roof?"
"Alright then, Auerlia, I'll see you around."

Naoya's black-soled foot stopped in midair between two steps. That first voice.. it was definitely one he knew, and the other sounded familiar but he was unable to put a name to the voice. Either way, the timbre of both Queen and unknown Male were hushed and the meeting place being where it was... something secretive was up. A snakelike smile, the like of which very few students at Hinamori had ever seen, slowly stretched across Naoya's pale features. While 9 o'clock was not past curfew, and as such a meeting at that time was not against the rules... there would be a supervisor there just the same.

Passing through the great doors leading into the cafeteria, Naoya slipped a mask of nonchalance onto his face as he quickly spotted the female speaker and crossed the room to slide into a chair next to her.

"Greetings my Queen." He said with a small half-bow.
"I take it you've seen the weather? The rain will make an outdoor meeting quite bothersome so I was wondering if you have a back-up plan?"

((^^; Sorry, the end of the post kinda went to craps-ville))

((OOC: Sneaky. Really sneaky, I thought it was a great post. Well written, and this guy sounds like a great character. I like him!))

((If only we had an OOC thread...
^^; Thanks. I do my best to write good posts the only problem is that it takes me forever. And you like Naoya? On one level that's great since I haven't tried this flavor of character before, but on the other hand... you're not supposed to actually like him. He's a scheme-y nasty person, though he has perfect rationalizations for everything he does...

GAH! I'm going to set up an OOC thread. This got too long for just a little comment.))

Aurelia was brought back to reality from the history text she was reading by Naoya's voice, a little startled. "Ah, Jack-san," She greeted him in return, putting her textbook away while the sound of bustling students drowned out the music in her head. "Yes, the weather has put a downer on that plan, and I actually don't have a backup plan." She admitted, taking a menu and handing it to Naoya. "Actually, if the Court members will continue to have a meeting today, I will not be able to attend. I missed my arithmetic test this morning due to an incident. Thus madame wants me to take it later during the free period I had originally planned the meeting for." Sighing Aurelia slumped in her seat, the salad she had ordered finally brought before her. "I actually have not seen you in a while, Naoya-senpai. How has your day been?" Even though he was her upperclassman and was still a lower rank than her in the Court, she still respected him; not out of fear but simply because it was custom to do so.

((Oh, yes, that is sneaky... ninja ))
PostPosted: Sun Aug 16, 2009 9:26 pm

User ImageWith a small nod of thanks, Naoya accepted the Menu and began browsing it causally while Aurelia spoke.

"No backups? Well, the forecast for today was reported as full sunshine with only slight clouds coming from the north, so it cannot be said that you neglected to think ahead." One long finger moved down the menu's list, coming to stop on the BLT selection.

"Perhaps it was an unnatural occurrence and a student has been experimenting with their powers... though to create a rainstorm out of Cirrus clouds is quite a feat... possibly even Court level." He said thoughtfully while closing his menu and placing it back on the table.

"Oh, my pardons Hime, just thinking aloud. And I will pass your message onto King-sama."

A server appeared and placed a salad in from of Aurelia, and after a small smile and Naoya's order for a BLT on toasted sourdough the young woman scurried off.

Turning back to his fellow court member, Naoya examined his reflection in the luscious-looking tomatoes in Aurelia's salad.

"It is true, we have not spoken in some time." Satisfied with both his and the produce's appearance, the Jack looked up.

"This morning I had no classes, so I performed a quick patrol of the dormitories. Very few infractions I am pleased to say. Then I picked up a novel from the library to read in the remaining free time. King-sama was there you know. Conversing with the 'King' of the Black Knights." Naoya threw the Queen a sidelong glance.

"They truly are a despicable organization. After all, they were created to directly oppose the Court. No matter what any of them say, the fact that they accepted membership tells of their intentions." A cool smirk fell across his face.

"It's foolish..."

Aurelia listened intently to Naoya while munching on the salad. After she had swallowed her face exhibited brief disbelief. "Oh, both Kings peacefully having a conversation?" She briefly turned her head to look at the King of the Black Knights across the room, then returned her gaze quickly back to Naoya. "Well, it is good to see that the both of them were able to talk without resulting in injury." Taking another bite out of her salad she knew that she would have heard something if Sebastian was to get in a fight or was hurt, so her disbelief was replaced with a sense of relief. "You may say that the Black Knights are rather foolish, but you must realize that it is because of the Court that they exist." Aurelia looked up to Naoya, maintaining a rather composed expression though she was slightly intimidated by his smirk. "And we shouldn't judge them because of their acceptance, Naoya-senpai. To be asked to be accepted into such an organization may be an honor to those individuals who have failed to satisfy the qualifications for making it into the Court." She added the last sentence just so she will not look too defensive, even though it is in her nature to bring out as much dignity and justice as she humanly could no matter the person.

"In addition, they have not done anything to cause trouble as of yet. It is our duty to stop them in that case; thus we only have the power to act if they do." The Queen's expression was now serious, as if sending a message to her fellow Court member. After all, Astin's actions that morning had put her on alert to even keep the rest of the Court in check. "If a member of the Court acts first, it would make us look as bad as the Black Knights. That is, unless it is to prevent a troublesome or dangerous situation should we know beforehand."

User ImageA pleased smile crossed Naoya's face and he leaned back in the cafeteria chair.

"Well, a clear and thoughtful counter-point. I see why it is that you are the Queen." The Jack picked up a delicate spoon from the table and began turning the gleaming silver object around in his fingers as he collected his thoughts.

"But then, one could say that the Court was founded to oppose groups such as the Black Knights to maintain order." Another smile.

"Though, to admit that would be to back myself into the same argument I used against the Knights. I believe that is Checkmate in your favor my Queen. Well played."

The server returned and slowly placed Naoya's BLT on the table, not meeting his gaze, before hurrying off as soon as the platter touched the table. Lifting the top layer of the toasted sourdough off both halves of the diagonally-cut sandwich, Naoya examined the tomatoes closely before replacing the bread and taking a bite.

"Though, we shall see how the next hand plays out." The violet-eyed man said after swallowing his first bite. A strange tingle was running through Naoya's chest. Like with the Ace, the Queen both infuriated him for not losing, but also delighted him for actually being able to match wits.

Riku looked up from the meal that had inconspiciously arrived in front of him. Taking a bite out of the burger, he looked at the back of the head of the recent entry of the cafeteria that sat next to Aurelia. Something about that guy irked him since day one. He wasn't sure if it was that sly smirk that seemed to have eyes and followed you, or if it was just because he was a Council member. The guy never ceased to give him chills, he gave an atmosphere far different from how he talked.

Riku was barely able to rip his eyes away from the Jack, and looked back up at the ceiling. "I don't like that guy. Something about him rubs me the wrong way." It was the first time all day he used a serious, and darker tone in his voice. Riku could've sworn it was because of the guy that had arrived and sat next to Aurelia. That guy's vibe was so powerful it changed the vibe of the whole room. No matter where he was.

Without saying anything else he took another bite out of his food.

(OOC: I had to throw my two cents in.)

At Naoya's last sentence Aurelia could only smile. "Having a discussion as such is healthy, and I am indebted to you for bringing such a point up." Again she glanced at the table of the Black Knights for a moment, another question arising in her thoughts. If this is simply a matter over grades, why the hostility? Or...is there more? Answering her own question factors such as pride came on the scene. Shaking her head slightly she pushed away those thoughts.

"When the next hand plays, I will be eager to answer." The Queen was happy to know someone like Naoya, an individual who was able to see both sides of a situation, aware and informed. "With that aside, what did the two Kings talk about? And please tell of your plans for the future, now that you are a senior. Do you intend to attend college?"

[I'm baaack! biggrin Did you guys miss me?]

Back in the Ace's dorm, a miserable Misa sniffled under the pile of blankets she had piled onto her bed, she was all but buried under the mass of blankets but she still shivered uncontrollably. For the past few hours ever since she woken up in the library she with a terrible headache and fever she had stumbled back to her room and had been sleeping, and had only woken up due to the fact that she couldn't breath. Reaching out a small cold hand she snatched up another tissue and wiped at her streaming nose, and when she was finished tossed it onto the floor with the rest of it's crumpled brethren. This sucks, I missed class...And where the hell does all this snot come from?! She thought in anguished as she clutched at another thin piece of tissue paper. When she was done she peered blearily at the small digital clock that said it was about five in the afternoon. I wonder if everyone is getting along okay without me? She wondered as her eyes shifted to rest on the uniform jacket that belonged to Naoya had draped over her. I should return that, I don't want him getting in trouble for not having his full uniform...she thought as the ill Ace struggled to sit up and crawl out of the warm covers. When she finally got out of bed and stood up, she felt so disoriented and dizzy that she fell back on her bed in exhaustion.

" Thib sucks..." The tiny teenage girl mumbled her nose clogged as she made her way unsteadily to the door. Gladly the halls were empty and for that the girl was grateful she didn't want anyone but to see her in such a pathetic state as she stumbled about in the halls. Maybe everyone's at dinner? She thought hazily as she took a wrong turn toward the training hall instead.
