~ Sabine's Dream ~
Sabine's eyelids fluttered open, met with cold, unmoving air. Chilled, she sat up quickly and glanced around. Even though her eyes were open, darkness surrounded her; dancing, taunting, suffocatingly close. The only color in this eerie dream world was Sabine herself. Suddenly, a foggy image appeared in front of her. Sabine gasped as she recognized what she was seeing as a recollection of the previous night. She watched as the old Sabine leaped down from a building and drained the life out of an innocent boy, then tossing him aside, not caring about the mere mortal. "You have become a merciless monster," interrupted a holy feminine voice. Sabine looked up as what appeared to be an angel materialized in front of her. "I know," said Sabine. "I can't help it." The angel gave Sabine a disapproving glare. "That's how things are now," continued Sabine defensively. "This war changes people. Twists their minds and souls. When I get thirsty, I turn into someone I don't recognize. I kill innocent people. I have no self-control. I've come to accept it after all these bloody years." The angel kept a straight face, her eyes locking with Sabine's. "You don't like it." It wasn't a question. Sabine stuttered, "Well, no..." "And yet you don't rise against it." "I can't! You want me to defy my instincts? To deny my body food? To lose all sanity and drive myself to DEATH?!" The angel just stared, her eyes seeming to pierce Sabine's very soul. Sabine reached for her sword, but it wasn't there. She couldn't morph, either. What the...? She looked around and realized she was no longer in the dark world, but in an alley. She looked up and saw a dark figure leap down and slit her throat. Sabine stared up in fear and identified her attacked as... herself. She glanced around and saw that not only was she not in the dark world, but she was the boy from the alley! The other Sabine sank her fangs into the real Sabine's throat and began to drink her blood. But instead of feeling intense sensual pleasure, the bite only brought a searing pain, like a flame burning up her insides. "Why are you doing this?" the real Sabine gasped weakly. "Never kill another innocent mortal. Never," the blood-sucking Sabine ordered, her voice loud and clear, although her teeth were still in the real Sabine's neck. "What am I supposed to do then?" "Find a way." "How?!" "Find. A. Way." "You aren't the boss of me. Get your chompers outta my throat, b***h." As the attacking Sabine's response, a jolt of severe pain shot through the real Sabine's thrashing body. "You will listen to me," the attacking Sabine threatened. "Drink without bringing death, or I will damn you to die in this dream and never awaken." "Fine! I'll listen! Just let me go!!!"
