Aidan smiled, pressing the fruit to her mouth for a moment before taking another bite. "I couldn't have done that to myself. I couldn't do that to anyone, actually." She looked up at him, something of a smile on crossing her lips. "It was lucky that I ran into someone who could have." The Elf Looked down again as she listened to his story. "It's nice that you get to see your family that often," She commented. "I wish I could get around to seeing my parents more often, but it's quite far out of the way." Suddenly she looked up at Haucon again, before saying, "Thank you for helping me earlier. You really didn't have to. It was very kind." Aidan felt oddly content, walking next to the tall man. He seemed easier to talk to than most other humans. Or at least, the others that Aidan interacted with. Looking around at the vendors they were currently passing, something caught Aidan's eye. It was a small stand run by a woman in her mid forties who was attempting to sell a bracelet to a passing group of young women. Pointing to the stall Aidan asked, "Can we go over there really quickly?"

Haucon nodded listening to Aidan as she spoke. "Well, then I'm glad you happened to run into me. " he said somewhat happily. "How far away does your family live?" he asked. He nodded when she asked to look at the stall. "Of course, I have no agenda, so wherever you want to go, we can." he said with a smile. ((comparatively short, my apologies!))

[[No worries. I had to whip a rabbit out of my hat to get that much on my last one. ^ ^]]
Aidan made her way over to the indicated stall, and began perusing the selection. On the counter in front of her was a selection of handmade jewelry. The vendor smiled hopefully as the Elf looked. Most of it was made out of fine, silver wire and flat, polished stones. As she looked, a certain bracelet caught her attention. It was a chain of interlocking closed 's' shapes separated by black glass beads in the center of each of the shapes. Picking it up with gentle fingers, Aidan asked the price. The vendor quoted it, and Aidan smiled at her. Fishing the correct amount out of her little purse, Aidan handed it to the other woman, who smiled appreciatively. After the transaction was complete, Aidan moved away from the stall, and finally answered Haucon's question. "Well, like I said, they live in the forest outside the outermost wall, so," She started to attempt to clasp the bracelet on her right wrist, "It's the distance from here to there, plus about half a day's walk into the forest. So not anywhere particularly close by." Holding out her wrist to him, she said, slightly frustrated, "Would you please?"

Haucon looked over the selection of jewelry as Aidan did. He tried to find something that Moira might like, but didn't see anything that looked like something she'd really love. He listened to Aidan's explanation and acquiesced to her request for help.
His fingers were too large and awkward to easily attach the bracelet. It took a few minutes of frustrated fumbling before the clasp finally caught and Haucon let out a small laugh of triumph. That completed, he turned back to the conversation and resumed his walking pace.
"Well, you could always take a horse." he explained to her. "If you left early in the morning, you'd be there by noon and could have all day with your family, stay the night and then ride out again in the morning, be back in town at noon." he said with a broad smile, before he remembered that she couldn't ride. "Oh, but you'd have to learn how to ride by yourself, and probably let your hand heal first..." he trailed off somewhat embarrassed by his oversight.

((If you'd like to crash into an NPC, take your pick. In this post, Tia and Forest.))
A mass of blue and purple topped with a blot of white barely skirted past Aidan and Haucon in her mad attempt to escape another few people in robes chasing after it. The person's cape fluttered behind her, threatening to catch itself on any sort of obstruction that had a hook of some sort.
Along the way, the elf pass by Shrarva's shop, narrowly missed smacking into Lenore and being appalled by the woman's appearance, and swished by Azhure, Lyris, and Shane.
The white haired woman was tiring and fleeing from some of the disciples in the Mage Division. This whole situation had been a combination of Lord Thomas and Adam's fault. Tia's lord had sealed her ability to use teleportion magic, and Adam had convinced her group to dabble in the festivities and persuade Tia to participate as well. Her lord had unfortunately agreed with Adam and restricted her abilities... somehow.
What is this? If you can't get out of it, drag everyone else into it? Tia thought with a vengeance. She had heard that Lord Thomas had attempted to escape from the festival, but had been caught by Allen. Anyhow, Tia was so absorbed in her thoughts and fleeing that....
-----
Forest charged back into Shrarva's shop and started speaking excitedly about Thomas falling through the platform. "He fell! He fell!" With that much jumping around, the gal was sure to be hungry sooner or later. And with all the excitement, she could very well smack her the same hand she burned against the wall or some random object and become another casualty of the festival.

Aidan’s eyes were fixed on Haucon’s hands as he struggled with the clasp. Again, she was struck by the contrast between their two limbs. She had a sudden urge to take his larger hand and study it. When he moved his hand away, she blinked, slightly shocked. Her eyes moved naturally to the bracelet and she smiled. It was almost too big for her wrist, falling just above her fingers, and Aidan liked the way the overlarge bracelet looked on her thin wrist. The Elf kept pace with Haucon as they continued on their way through the vendors. She looked up at him as he was speaking, before replying, “Well, I could now, perhaps, because I have a,” She paused, and then continued, “Friend in the stables.” Having a human friend seemed like an odd concept to her. Shaking her head a little, as though to clear it, Aidan began again, “As for not knowing how to ride, I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to learn.”

A woman with white hair came rushing past Aidan and Haucon. Haucon had just enough time to literally lift Aidan out of the way before she might get plowed over again. He shook his head as the woman passed and turned to Aidan. "I swear, it's a miracle you've survived this long. You'd think with bright red hair, more people would see you and make space for you. Sorry for moving you so suddenly." he said slightly bewildered by what had just happened..
Haucon nodded encouragingly when she called him her friend. "Of course you can." he said. "You're welcome in the stables anytime! And based on how Morwyn reacted to you, my guess is you'll not have any problems learning how to ride." he added happily. "Any time I've got spare time you can come and we'll try to teach you." he said. "Although, its up to you when we start because your hand'll need some time to get better." he explained.

Aidan's eyes widened as she was lifted off her feet. She watched the woman with raised eyebrows as she rushed by, thinking to herself, 'What's the hurry?' At Haucon's comment, Aidan let out a nervous laugh, before responding, "I usually don't venture out into the main part of the city. I'm sure," she said, fussing with her dress to try and hide the flush in her cheeks, "That if I were taller, the red hair would be of greater effect." After she was satisfied that her face had returned to its natural shade, Aidan looked up at Haucon before responding, "Thank you, I think I might just take you up on that offer. You're probably right about my hand though," Aidan looked at the injured fingers for a few seconds, and seemed to notice that she had forgotten about the pain during their walk.

Haucon glared after the woman who'd nearly over run Aidan for a minute. He shook his head again. "Maybe it's a good thing you don't go into the main city often. What if there was a cart going too fast or something." he trailed off blushing, at his indignation and excessive worries about her safety. He noticed briefly that he wasn't the only one blushing, but decided not to mention it.
"Well, you're welcome in the stables anytime while you're healing anyway, it'll help you get to know some more of the horses, and understand them better, which will easily make you a better rider." he said with a smile.

[[Eh... Really short! Sorry! sweatdrop ]]
Aidan smiled a little at his mention of carts. "I wouldn't put it past some of the people in this city, to run me over." She shrugged, as if the thought of being trampled didn't bother her. She stood there, awkwardly for a few moments, before beginning to walk again. His comment about the stables made the Elf look up at him, before saying, in a thoughtful voice, "You're probably right. Maybe it would be better for both the horses, and myself," Aidan looked down at her hand again, before finishing, "If we became more comfortable with each other.

Haucon continued to walk along, munching on his apple and enjoying the afternoon and the company. He looked around at all the vendors, still looking for something that Moira might like or for his family.
He smiled at Aidan. "The horses don't get very many visitors but its important for them to get associated with a variety of people, so that they don't get skittish."
He glanced down at Aidan's hand and nodded to it. "How's that feeling?" he asked. "Still hurting? Then again, you would probably know what to do better than I would at this point, being that horses are somewhat different than humans.""

Aidan nodded, before saying, "That makes sense. I think that's the case for a lot of things, not just horses." Laughing a little bit, she added, "I bet I could learn something from that." As she walked, she felt her nervousness and suspiciousness melting away. It was nice to feel at ease, especially surrounded by so many people. "It hurts if I think about it, but other than that, no." Aidan responded tp his inquiry about her hand. "I'm mainly a psychological person, so it's fairly easy to talk my self into believing that it doesn't hurt, and then, soon enough," She shrugged a little, "It really doesn't bother me anymore."

Haucon smiled while nodding to Aidan. "Well, we'll just have to keep your mind off your hand then won't we?" he said happily. "Shall we go watch some of the competitions or would you prefer a different form of distraction?" He asked his voice totally innocent.

[[No worries. Mine's short too.]]
Aidan finished off her pear and sent Haucon a curious little look as he mentioned a change of pace. Throwing the core of the fruit into a waste bin, she raised an eyebrow, and said, "Why don't you surprise me?" In all honesty, the Elf knew nothing about the festival. It was the first time she had really been a part of the festivities, so she wasn't sure exactly what there was for them to do.

Haucon laughed. "Well, I don't know what the competition schedule is or when anything starts, but we could go check out the tracks and see if we can guess who's gonna win." he said smiling. He strolled along leading the way to the competition grounds. "Were you thinking of entering any of the competitions?" he asked Aidan casually.
