"Lets meet up at the restaurant. I like to mull over my food." He said to her. "It's called Denari's Place and its only two blocks from here. There's a big sign, so its hard to miss." He smiled brightly. While he didn't know what Lucius was, there were times when he knew that Lucius needed to consume living flesh. Fortunately, there was a large fish tank in the upstairs area, where Lucius kept several cat fish, that he would use for this. But Lucius always asked to be alone when he needed to do it. Zack understood well enough Mara's request. "It has large booths, so its good for private conversations." He said to her. "So lets meet there. I guess I'll head down now, I'll see you in a few!" He said to her with a smile. "Have a good snack!"

Mara smiled, "Thanks, and you as well." She laughed lightly as together they left the building. Once on the street she waved to him as she walked off. "Don't worry, I'll be back." she assured him, hoping to ease any doubt that might be in his mind. she would jog off in the direction of the church. She knew she would have to be more careful now that she was alerted of the war that was happening. She knew where the church was, and that it would be a good place to hunt, but she knew she wouldn't hunt on holy grounds. That was against all moral that even she, a vampire, had.

Zack waved back and walked his way to the restaurant. When he got there he simply opened the door and found a seat. Despite the privacy of the booths, it was surprisingly casual, there was no host to seat customers. He ordered a soda from the night waitress and opened the menu casually. He already knew what he wanted, but he looked at it as a ruse to himself. He was thinking more about how nice Mara was, but pondered over whether she was simply tolerating him, or was genuinely interested. He shook away that thought, but he heard an early lesson from Lucius ring in his head. What happens, happens. You can't change everything, no matter how much it rankles. But remember, just because you can't change everything doesn't mean you cannot try. He smiled and put the menu down. He would order some cheese fries when the waitress came by.

Eve observed in disgust. She moved to stand by the mortal, pressing her boot to his throat, in extreme temptation to break his neck. Her expression shifted to a grimace, eyes glaring bright in agitation. "I can't feed from this thing either." she said loud, with emphasis. Stepping back Eve gave a sigh, noticing the sky's now lighter shade of blue. "I will go hungry this evening."
Adelle smiled, stepping back a few inches, the cheer illuminating her face. "Ah...that. I've heard from Mara recently. She informs me that Lycan and Vampire have turned against one another?" she shook her head in disbelief. "I know that the Aeacus have been sent it. It is the talk of France among our vampire. You know you are both like family to me. I had to come." Adelle gently laid her hands on Cooro's shoulders and looked at him with pale eyes, brimming with concern.

Once outside the city limits Mara broke into a run. She was fast. She could simply disappear from a normal human's view before they knew she was there. The hunt was on her mind, she knew the area well enough, but things changed daily. She was already picking up new scents on the night air. She hardly noticed that the sky was already beginning to lighten, she just knew she needed to drink before returning to Zack. She would not hurt him. The scents were all so good, so tantalizing. She sighed, they were so close.
"Yes, though I didn't know that she already knew. I planned to tell her when she comes home in a few hours." Cooro informed Adelle. "Does she know that you are here?" Cooro asked her. Smiling he kissed her forehead with his cold lips, "You are family to us as well. It is nice to have you back, though I am sad that it is under such sad circumstances. For how long will you be here my dear?" Cooro asked the girl he knew as a daughter, just the same as Mara. Cooro smiled crookedly as he looked into her eyes. "Don't be afraid for us, alright?" He ran his fingers though her hair. "Everything is fine."

Arzachel looked at the sky and saw the dark turning to blue. "Tch! Sunlight... what a bother." He said, clearly miffed. "I believe that I am getting tired of this monotonous routine!" He started to walk and continue his rant, not caring who heard, because he doubted that anyone was listening. "Every century, every year, it is the same exact process! Walk out at night, then go away in sunlight! It practically claustrophobic! Nothing changes! Occasionally there will be a decent rain storm or some clouds but, its still the same! I need to be free of the prison of the night." Arzachel disappeared into an alleyway.
Lucius looked out the window, and saw the sky lightening. "Ah.... I must prepare for work." He said as he finished with his papers and stuffed them into a courier bag. He used to it carry his materials for his classes. Lucius sighed and leaned back in his chair. "I think.... I'll take a day off today." He said on impulse. He had a feeling that he should, he didn't know why but.... It seemed like things might go better if he did.
The waitress came by with his order, and he took a sip of soda before eating one of the cheese fires. They were good. He smiled as he waited for Mara patiently, he hadn't been waiting long anyways.

"I don't know that she realized the extent of the conflict, and I'm sure she doesn't know of the Aeacus. I feel that she's taken notice of the instability between the races though." Adelle closed her eyes at Cooro's gentle touch. "I can stay as long as I like. You know that I have no place to go." she smiled, always amazed by how docile such a powerful vampire could be.

Mara had found her prey, a charming male fox. She had found him in a small clearing, she had caught him totally unaware. She had worked quickly taking the fox and biting into him, killing him instantly. She lay back against a tree stroking the fox. Now that she could think clearly she thought though the night.
She opened her eyes after a bit, not having fallen asleep, but just resting, to see that the sun was rising. She sat up alarmed. She knew she hadn't fallen asleep, but time had slipped away from her. Jumping to her feet she began to pace around fretting over what she could do. "The church!" she exclaimed as she ran to it. Scents of all kinds filled the church as she searched for a cover up.
She hadn't been able to find much, the most she could was a long, thick, black monk robe. Mara looked at it for a moment and sighed. It would have to do.
Ten minutes later she was jogging at a normal speed down the street, the long robes growing warm in the early morning light. She had the hood drawn over her face as she went. She found the restaurant. Relieved she rushed in, only to be stopped by a large chef. "We don't want your kind in here!" He said as he pushed her back towards the entrance. "No please! I'm trying to meet someone here." she persisted.
Cooro sighed, "I haven't even talked to her about it." He sighed, "I guess I really should talk to her about it." He looked out the window. "Here comes the sun, I forget, do you need to hide from it?" He asked Adelle. Smiling at her he stroked her hair again. "Stay as long as you like, you're always welcome to live with us."

Zack stood up immediately and intervened. "Its alright, sir! She's telling the truth!" He stood between Mara and the chef and reached into his wallet. He pulled all of the money in it out and handed it to the chef. "Here. For the meal and the inconvenience." He said before quickly leading Mara into an alley near the restaurant.
"Sorry about that." He said to her. "I didn't expect you to come in a monk's robe." He said to her. "I'm really sorry. I guess I should have picked a better place to meet. I didn't know how late it was." He said to Mara.

Mara held the robe close around her. "I'm so sorry for this!" Mara said as she hid back in the shadows, "I hadn't realized I'd left you here that long! Please forgive me." Mara said in a near panic as she paced around the small area. She was nearly breathing though her teeth as she paced. "And Cooro, he's going to be upset. I'm so sorry! So so sorry! I didn't mean to make you wait so long, I can only imagine what you were thinking at the time."

"It's okay, Mara." Zack said to her. "We all make mistakes. And its not like you didn't show up." He said with a chuckle. "And it was a good test of willpower for me. It took me a lot of strength to keep from gorging myself on cheese fries." He added. "And I guess I should have picked a better spot. I wouldn't want you to feel left out. Here, I'll make it up to. You let me walk you home and then we'll meet up at the place of your choice." He said. "Unless you have another idea."

Mara smiled from the back of her hood at Zack. She had stopped pacing and ranting, now she slid down the wall of the building behind her and she looked up at him. "I'm glad you feel tested." She said softly still feeling foolish. "If you like, I would like to speak to Cooro, or would you like to do something else, I could always call him." She said reaching for her pocket. She sighed, "If I hadn't forgotten my cellphone."
Sighing deeply she looked up at Zack with clear eyes. "It's alright, I'm fine where ever, I just can't be out in direct sunlight." She told him. "You will see later I promise."

"No, its alright. I'll walk with you. I like to walk." He said with a smile. "Lucius knows that I'm alright, so I'm not worried. Just prop the hood up, and we'll get you home. My jacket has a hood, if you want to wear that instead of the robe." He offered to her with a close eyed smile.

"That would be lovely, but this covers me head to toe." Mara sighed, "I can't spoil our secrete, if you like you can hide your face too. Mara knew she would be hiding her face to keep Cooro's honor. "I don't know how you feel about the public, but you may want to hide yourself." she smiled lightly feeling very foolish.

Zack chuckled a bit and turned up his hood so it covered his face. "Never had to do it before... but I suppose circumstances are different. I can always change clothes. I'll remember to keep track of time next time." He said apologetically. "You ready to go? Just lead the way." He wanted to stay with her to take some of the attention off of her robe.
