The Great hall was magnificent! Oh how the the ceiling shimmered with stars! The overall affect of the room lightened the fear in Sophie's heart. All dances made her nervous, causing her to constantly smooth out the wrinkles in her outfit. Blonde hair let down her back, a bit in the front, blending in with her long white pearl necklace that was swooped around her neck once and the rest hanging to her waist. A nifty yellow knee length vintage dress hung from her shoulders, swaying about her knees playfully. White gloves occupied her gentle hands, accompanied with a little gold wrist watch. Black heels click and clack as she walked across the floor.
Peppermint filled her nostrils whenever she took a breath in. It tickled her nose, even making her a bit giggly. As she walked across the floor, she kept an eye out for friends, acquaintances even. Music blew softly across the great hall, not exactly overriding the voices of other witches and wizards.

As Joel continued to stare at his shoes, his feet sapping back and forth in a repetative motion, he noticed a presence enter the room that wasn't there before. It was his beautiful, soon to be, maiden of Ravenclaw. Sophinett. With a quick breath check (putting his hand to his mouth and breathing in and out), Joel straightened his robes and walked briskley-but gentlemanly- towards the blond girl in the beautiful yellow dress. The scene in which he would reveal himself ran over and over in his mind. I am going to sneak through the crowd, and go over to the punch bowl. No, no no, with my luck I'll jut trip and stain her beautiful yellow dress. Okay, I'll find a way to sneak behind her, say 'Oh, Sophinette, you look gorgeous, as always. ' I'll plant a kiss, and I'll be home free! But...Wait. What If I'm just doing this just to kiss her. NO, it can't be. I have never thought through any romantic relation in my life, I have to care for her enough to be nervous. Oh my gosh. Am I sweating? DO I look nervous? Has my hair drooped! Oh please let my hair be up and non-droopy! Stopping in the middle of his stride, Joel took a deep breath to try and calm himself down. His robes were on perfectly, his hair was in perfect position-after he placed his hands on top of the spikes to make sure-, and he was not sweaty at all. With another deep breath, Joel continued, trying to keep his thoughts spontaneous and clever. Maybe I should make a comment about Sezer and Vlaityn. Thinking of which, where did those little devils-. Oh. No. Sezer you dog! Making himself smile with his usual character, Joel found himself directly behind Sophie in no time flat. When he got there, he had no idea what he was supposed to do. Okay, on the count of three you are going to say something. Anything! One. Two. THREE! "Is this an angel I see before me?" Pulling out his cheesiest, most non perverted pick up line he could think of, he looked at Sophie with his most dashing, 'I'm off to make you swoon for me' looks. However, this expression was different, in someway than the other looks he had given. It was almost more sincere, and there was a little twinkle in his eye that was never there before.

The young blonde haired girl stood in one spot, hand in hand with herself, looking around hopefully for someone to at least show up! A sudden wind of peppermint blew from behind her, hinting that there must be someone creeping behind her back. 'Ugh, please make it not one of those creepy guys I see looking at me all the time! Please, oh god please make it someone decent!' A deeper gentle-like, familiar voice had rung to her ears. Sophie turned her head back towards the older man, returning his comment with a full smile. His spiky hair gave him an overall younger childish look, but very cute in Sophie's opinion. Turning her body the whole way around, she replied,"Oh Joel, You look so dashing! During this enthusiastic compliment, she placed her hand onto his arm, showing deep affection for him.
A lighter happier feeling came from within Sophie whenever she saw Joel, what was this feeling? Was it mere affection or something deeper than the normal affection for a friend? Is it only friendly affection, was it that at the beginning of the year? This year is definitely different from the previous years at Hogwarts, she had found someone who shared that same affection. A somewhat fast song started in the Great Hall, urging herself to grab Joel by the hand and rush closer to the middle of the Great Hall, tearing through the little conversational groups. "Come on Joel! Let's see if you're charming compliments are as good as your dancing!"

Feeling her warm, delicate hands on his arm, through the cloth that is, Joel couldn't help but grin. "Why thank you Sophie, that dress brings out the best of you.." Not meaning it to sound too...Perverted, Joel used his hands to twidle a piece of her hair between his fingers. The golden locks were smooth and silky, and smelled gorgeous on top of that. How lucky am I? Though, I must say, that Gryffindor over there by the punch bowl looks like a big sack of sweets. Oh, wait, Sophie is in front of me. Focus on the blond beauty, I won't have a chance in hell with a straight guy. Remember the guy from Liverpool...Yah. Before he knew it, Joel was being pulled rather forcefully by the blond fifth year into the center of the dance floor. Dancing wasn't his forte, but it definitely was something he enjoyed, no matter how dumb he looked. Alone he danced crazy, but with a lady, he preferred the classical styles. Tango, waltz, flamenco, all the simple classic styles that normally turned on girls was what he enjoyed. However, something told him that Sophie would be more of a fast dancer than a classic dancer, however, that didn't mean he couldn't 'sweep her off her feet.' "Why, if I couldn't follow up the compliments with something more, than I would most definitely not be a Calēndentē." With a charming grin, Joel began to dance, incorporating every move with Sophie, though he looked light on his feet, he was winging every single move, trying to make it as effortless as he could.

Sezer entered the double doors of the entrance hall, stopping to glare impatiently at some particularly mischievous paintings who's voices were echoing up from the dungeons, presumably Slytherin characters, though they could not see him. While the thought briefly crossed his mind to perform a feeble incendio spell, if only to hush them up, he though better of it. Though it would be fulfilling to see the looks on their faces. If he could even see them at all. He mentally kicked himself. Sort of. He was about to, when he just noticed, for what seemed the sixty-second time in just this minute, more or less meaning he'd looked at her at least once a second, that Vlaityn was indeed attached to his arm and did not appear to have any plans of immediate departure. Calming himself, he took what he hoped was an inaudible breath, let it out somewhat slowly, and marched into the great hall (or it felt regal as a march to him, at least), dragging Vlaityn behind him in tow.
Sezer stopped in the middle of the entrance way, not bothering to care, since, as he'd predicted previously, everyone was quite busy on the dance floor, twirling and spinning elegantly, most of them too busy to give a centaur's arse who the hell had just entered the Great Hall, quickly spotting Joel. He spoke to gain his girlfriend's attention, instead of lightly nudging her, as he would've done with his best friend. "That's Joel." He informed her lightly, not pointing, since pointing was considered rude, at least by more old-fashioned families. "Do you see? Just there."
He couldn't help but grin, happy for his best mate; he deserved it. He needed someone to help him get through this rough patch of his life. He needed someone there for him where Sezer and Vlaityn could not be.

"Which one?" Vlaityn murmured, attempting to scout the boy out in the large, constantly moving crowd. "Ahhh." She mused when she caught sight of him dancing with Sophinett; an astoundingly beautiful girl by all means. "He just can't dance like anyone else, can he?" Vlaityn grinned at the sight, mentally admitting that he was quite graceful.
Contemplating on Joel's current mood, or apparent mood, in comparison to his recent loss, Vlaityn smiled as well. Things may change, but it seems at least everything trucks on ahead. Quite by accident, Vlaityn slipped into thinking out loud. "Things change, but nothing stops." Wrapping up her thoughts, Vlaityn attempted to drag herself into the present. Which technically she probably wouldn't need to do since Sezer could have done it for her.

Sezer smiled down at Vlaityn fondly. Everything about her seemed to make him happy in some way. For one thing, she couldn't find Joel at first, and while that most certainly would have annoyed him thoroughly had anyone else done it, it only amused him. Then again, it was particularly difficult for one to become irritated with their significant other, wasn't it? Or at least about things that mattered.
He nodded at her comment, adding one of his own. "Change is the only constant. No matter how much we may not want it, it will come. No matter how desperately we beg for it to descend upon us, it will come when it's good and ready." He smiled just a tad, silently thankful that Joel had picked a girl to dance with. Not that he would've found his best mate any less of his best mate should Sezer had discovered him dancing with a male, it was just that this was so much less awkward. Sezer, feeling suddenly rather foolish standing in the middle of the dance floor, wandered over to a table he felt to be strategically best located to spy discreetly on Joel and Sophinett. Swiftly conjuring up two chairs, since it appeared the professors had found a way to make the dance educational, if not a practice sessions of sorts for Sezer himself, he sat in one just as Vlaityn sat in hers.
"He does look happy. A nice change of things from late."

A large grin appeared as Sezer conjured some chairs for them to rest in at their leisure. Sure, it was very gentlemanly of him to get her a place to sit and be comfortable, but Vlaityn knew Sezer, and Sezer loved to know anything. And she'd sell her own broomstick if Sezer wasn't figuring a way to watch Joel.
Letting the whole spying situation go, Vlaityn nodded in agreement. "I suppose it's not like him to stay done, hmm? But still. I still have that nagging question of what is going to happen or keep changing and what not." Vlaityn let the tip of her left index finger trace random, abstract shapes and patterns on the surface of the table. For the first time in quite awhile, she was okay with discussing change. It wasn't so scary and intimidating with Sezer sitting next to her. Nothing was.
Directing her attention away from the dancing couples and back to Sezer, Vlaityn allowed herself the pleasure to take in all of his features. Not that she didn't know them by heart. She most certainly did. He just seemed even more alluring now that Vlaityn had at least awhile to safely know no girl would snatch him away from her. "Maybe it will be easier for everyone to be at least a bit happier now."

Sezer nodded in agreement. "Yes, hopefully. I know I, for one, am happier than I have been in recent times. I can only hope that Joel feels this way, as well. Though I do not recommend he obtain my brand of anti-depressant." No sooner were the words out of his mouth than did Sezer realize his potentially grave mistake. Would Vlaityn think he was comparing her to a drug? Well, he was, but he hadn't at all meant it in that way! Would she be cross with him? Oh, he hoped not.
"That is..." He attempted to reprimand himself, before sighing a tad heavily and giving up his short lived conquest. "I meant in no way to offend you." He murmured feebly, apparently beyond hope that she wasn't about to hex him heavily, stomp on his foot for good measure, and stalk away. He flinched inwardly at the notion. Though he supposed he'd already apologized, and, apparently, with most of his species refusing to apologize was a large portion, if not all, of the problem. Hopefully he'd be more or less protected.
"D'you think he'll notice us?" He questioned her, attempting to skillfully redirect the conversation. "I suspect not, myself. He's far too busy taking her in, the prat." He rattled affectionately.

With a slight laugh, Vlaityn waves his half apology away with her hand. "Hey, I'm arm candy, I'm your own personal happy pill, trust me. All the girls will be jealous." She smiled languidly, hoping her laughter and ease would sooner or later assure Sezer that she couldn't get mad at him easily. Especially not when he had such a similar effect on her!
"Oh, you're probably right. He seems quite absorbed. Heck, everyone seems to be." Taking a chance to look around again, Vlaityn took in all the couples and people. "I doubt anyone will notice." She assured him before snapping her mouth shut. It sounded too assuring. Sighing inwardly, Vlaityn scolded herself for thinking he would be ashamed to have her around again.
'Poisonous thinking.'
Hoping Sezer didn't catch her mistake, she flashed him a large grin. "He probably won't remember a thing besides some snogging if we know Joel." A distraction statement. Vlaityn thought how odd it was to hear herself use a form of slang that wasn't American in nature.

Sezer smiled, laughing the tiniest bit, sort of. It was that bizzare eye thing he had going on, again. Ya know? The one where his eyes get all light, or they seem to almost dance with the personified light of whatever substance related to fire that happened to be in the room? Yeah? That one sort of laugh. Eye laugh.
He smirked. "I usually am right. If I had to conjure up a statistic, I'd assume I was right at least ninety two percent of the time." He nodded in agreement once more with her next statement. And, briefly, the thought occurred to him. He began to think about what it'd be like if he and Vlaityn were over to row? And, while he had extreme difficulty attempting to contemplate this, he suspected that it would be full of big words no one knew what they meant except for him - and quite possibly Vlaityn. And anyone else nerdy enough to read the dictionary.
Sezer didn't notice.
"Most likely." He agreed whole-heartedly, admiring the grin painted across her features. "I've heard snogging is quite the enjoyable experience." He commented offhandedly, feeling a peculiar swell of pride in his chest that she and him were able to discuss such topics without feeling any sort of pressure.

"Ninety two? Oh, what is this? Has the mighty Sezer gone modest? We both know you're at least a ninety six, darling." Vlaityn found herself correcting dear Sezer with a fake severe look. Oh, if his sarcastic yet serious sense of humor wasn't so darn contagious, she might be acting less giddy.
Well, ok, that wasn't anything near the truth. Vlaityn couldn't not be somewhat giddy tonight. Especially not when he started talking of snogging, of all things.
'Really, this boy will be the end of me.' She thought happily.
"So I've heard as well. Well, besides from the trouble breathing, of course. And the occasional light headedness." Vlaityn described it almost as being some sort of wonderful sickness; one everyone just loves to have. Heck, wasn't love a sickness of sorts?

Sezer chuckled quietly to himself. "I suppose so. But you know what they say: He who has his feet on the ground has less chance of flying away. Okay, so they don't actually say that," he conceded, "but it sounds right, doesn't it?" He smiled slightly sheepishly.
He nodded, not at all catching on to her apparent 'you'll be the death of me' thoughts. Of course, he didn't want to be responsible for such a thing. Anyone's death. Much less the death of his girlfriend. Why, can you imagine that? Sezer'd never smile again, I wager. And he'd just throw himself into his studies. He'd get one hundred on every bloody thing that came his way. He'd be teetering on and off the edge, and the only one who could stand his company would be Joel. And then he'd even frequently yell at his best mate, but Joel'd just take it. And then Sezer would feel tremendously awful afterward, but then, more likely than not, simply sit in his room and study, hoping Joel knew he didn't mean it.
But that was quite depressing.
Sezer nodded thoughtfully. "Of course. Though," he began again, surprised with himself for thinking of such tactics in combination with snogging, of all things, "I suppose if a couple were to go under water with gillyweed in both their systems... Well, that would make for more or less an hour, wouldn't it?" Leave it to Sezer to combine learning and snogging.

Vlaityn had to take a few moments just to try and picture a pair sucking face underwater. It would be so....floaty? But, according to the simple logic Sezer was applying to it, it should work. Which was a weird thought in itself. But then again strangely peaceful.
Until Vlaityn had the sudden thought of Merpeople having relations.
'Ick.' She shook her head slightly, dispelling the thought and mental picture that had plastered itself on the inside of her cranium.
"I think you're right. I mean, it would be quite odd to listen to somebody explain that one, but technically if they had lungs to breathe out of, there would be absolutely no need to take their mouths off of each other.

Sezer waited patiently while Vlaityn worked on picturing the scheme of things in her head. Sezer had an almost unnatural talent for picturing things in his mind, you see, the brainy git that he was, so he need not focus energy on producing the image, himself. They always came to him. Whether he wanted them to or not. Be it during Transfiguration imagining himself performing a spell, or Joel telling one of his gratifying stories.
'You woke up with a bruise where'?
It wasn't a pretty picture for Sezer - literally.
"I usually am right, you'll find. I suppose it would be quite odd; depending on the wizard to witch relationship, of course." And by that totally unsexist comment he meant the relationship the two magic folk have defines the explanation. Or at least how it sounds. For example, if Sezer were to discuss it with his grandfather, Julius, they could have a totally rational, logical discussion about snogging underwater without any strings. If Sezer were to discuss it with Joel, not that it'd be much of a conversation, Joel would imply that he wanted to do those things with Vlaityn. Should he discuss with said witch, it would be implied that he wanted to do those things with her, or they'd both begin to picture it. Or, worse yet, both. Therefore, he let it be.
"I wonder if Joel is capable of noticing anything else besides Sophinett. If a herd of rampaging centaur shooting their arrows at him and just missing him by millimeters each time stampeded through here, I'm willing to bet a galleon he wouldn't notice. If I bet, that is."
