Lin wasn't sure where to head to first, but figured heading to the Dining Hall would be her best bet (besides who knows who else she might meet). She still hadn't set her bag down and hadn't cared to do so. Besides, it wasn't like the bag was bothering her at all.

When she did find him, she saw him coming down the hall, and he probably had saw her way before then... she had to do a double take. Lin could never recall his hair being that short... ever.

Earendil had been so preoccupied with his hair that he didn't even notice Lin until she was pretty much standing right in front of him. When he saw her, he stopped in his tracks - then he lowered his hands and grinned at her.

"Welcome back, Lin!" he said brightly. "It's been so long I had begun to wonder if you'd forgotten about me!"

He chuckled and put one arm around her, giving her a one-armed hug. "It's good to see you again."

Lin hugged Earendil in return using both arms, "Well life has kept me busy, school has kept me busy... people..."

She added under her breath Vincent.

"Has kept me busy, and when I do come for lessons it's often, talk, ask questions and go home."

She did come here more often than the Borderlands but often she wasn't able to stay, and of course with the things going on back home, she hadn't been able to visit in a while.

"And you cut your hair."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 6:42 pm

Earendil chuckled. "I cut my hair nearly every month," he winked at her. "But yes, about a year ago I had it cut short. I'm still trying to remember why."

He ran his fingers through his hair again, then decided to give up on it and simply have it stick up for the rest of the day.

"And how have you been?" he asked brightly. "Besides all of your training and such. Will you actually be staying for a decent amount of time this time? Longer than just a half day?"

"Because you thought it would be convenient?" Lin suggested looking up at her friend.

That was why she kept her hair short (well that and Seconds seem to tend to prefer to keep the hairstyle they were born with though she wasn't quite sure why). Though her hair was no where near as short as Earendil's.

"And... week.. weeks... I could stay as long as Lore and Elnara, which might be two days worth Gaia time, which.... is two months here?"

Earendil's eyes lit up boyishly. "Really?" he asked eagerly. "That's great!"

It was always too long between Lin's visits, and despite the fact that Earendil was (and had been for a long time) a grown man, visits from Lin were still one of the things he most looked forward to.

"Is there a special occasion this time?" he asked, curious now. "It's so rare that you can stay for so long ..."

"Well... it was easy since Lore and Elnara wanted to visit to introduce the twins to everyone," she replied and then paused, "Oh you mean my reason?"

Well of course she had a reason, but that was besides the point.

"I wanted to have some sanity for a while, being here seemed to be ideal. I get to learn, train and have some peace."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 7:11 pm

"Oh, Uncle Lore and Aunt Elnara are here as well?" Earendil beamed. "I'll have to make sure to find them later on. But tell me ... why come here for peace? I mean ... your schedule can be as rigorous here as back home ... since of course you train and learn, as you said ..."

And he seemed to sense a bit of unease in the castle for some reason ...

"One word, school," Lin replied taking Earendil's arm so they could continue to the Dining Hall.

Knowing that was where she was he were both headed, besides her curiousity compelled her to see if there was anyone else there.

"Have I told you about my school social experiment?"

Earendil chuckled softly. "Yes," he murmured. "I still find the idea ... funny. And your schoolmates, they are some of the strangest people I have ever heard of. I must admit, I don't understand why you have to continue to go there."

He shook his head. "The idea that many people get together to be taught by only a few, I think it's ridiculous. How can anyone learn that way? Sitting at a desk ... pah."

"I'll admit the sitting at a desk thing is boring," Lin admit.

It wouldn't have been so bad if she just was there for the lecture and not doing work. She couldn't understand why she had to be at her desk to work, why couldn't she go home and do it? Or do it at the library? Or something like that.

"But this is a normal school, no fighting, no magic, of course it's going to be a bit odd, but it's all for the social learning than the book learning. I know most of it, except physics... and advanced math.... and some of the science."

She wasn't fond of the maths and the physics, but that was a given after a while.

"The point is though, is just to learn to be with other people that are close to my age, and not related to me... Like how to deal with people, after all not everyone is going to be agreeable," she resisted rolling her eyes at that thought, "And I get to do other things than study, train... train... ask questions."

Earendil chuckled softly. "And how do you like it?" he asked her with a grin. "All that sitting at a desk and doing things other than training and asking questions and studying. Is it helping you at all?"

He was of course interested in how she was turning out - after all, he would be spending quite a bit of time with her in the future, if things worked out. He only hoped that she was still planning on going traveling with him at some point ... he had spent most of his life planning for it and training for it and preparing for it.

Lin thought about it, well she actually had people she could talk to that wasn't related to her, which was always a bright side of things. She had learned a bit more about people, and what to expect from them (sort of in a cynical sort of way).

"I like spending time with people," Lin ventured, "Raven is a lot of fun... I think it's helping, as much as I don't like conflicts when they do happen, it's an experience."

She paused and brighten up.

"And we're doing a play in school, I lucked out, I don't have any speaking parts, I just need to know to dance. The puppetry club and the doll club is joining together to help make the creatures for the play. I could probably at this point decently mend any clothes now."

Earendil grinned. "That's my Lin, making the best out of things," he laughed, ruffling her hair affectionately. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."

Yet there was a bit of sadness in his eyes, and a bit of anxiety as well, mixed in with his happiness.

Lin tilted her head a bit, she didn't bother to smooth it out, at this point she sort of given up on that. She should be use to hair ruffling by now, but she couldn't help but blush a bit at Earendil's comment. Yet there was something else as well, and she couldn't put her finger on it.

Then again everyone was feeling kind of off today....

"Is something wrong?"
