NoobFanGirlNot Suzzie Ann took the offered hand with a small smile. "Nice to meet you," she said softly before looking at Shannon and looked at the hoses around her. "Im not quite sure. I guess. I have never actually ridden a horse before," she felt rather foolish. She was on a ranch for christ's sake and she didn't even know what she was supposed to be doing. "Nice to meet you too." Kahlilia replied. The second she heard Shannon call to have people teamed up, she looked scared and confused. She wasn't used to working with people very much - or groups, for that matter. In a way, she had been a hermit back at home, but one obsessed with nature. After a moment's hesitation, she turned to Shannon. "Um, do you think we could work in threes?" She asked quietly, since she saw only Tuck, Suzzie Ann, Shannon, and herself. Or, would Shannon work with the one unpaired? She pondered as she waited for Shannon's answer.

Keith rode in a slow circle, keeping track of both girls and cattle. Looking at the back of the paper he held, he wrote down the numer 97, and sighed. Great. Three are missing.

Esmeralda finished counting, frowned and started again. Then she rode to Keith with a slightly worried look on her face. "How many are there in the herd?" she asked. "Are there supposed to be ninety-seven?" It seemed like kind of a strange number to her - she would have assumed that the ranchers would use round numbers if they could, and would most likely have more. She'd expected it to be in the triple digits at least, but maybe Shannon didn't depend on cattle as her sole source of income.

Emily counted only nintey seven and muttered some colorful words that her older brother taught her. She had read something about there being one hundred cows in this herd. She nudged Apollo into a trot and began searching for the three missing cows. A few minutes later Emily had found the tracks still fresh in the dirt and began heading north. she found them away from the herd and grazing idly ten minutes later. From learning about cattle from her uncle; it was best not to startle them and instead wait for more people to arrive. But Emily couldn't wait for that. She made a loud whistle and began herding the three fugitive cows towards the herd with a sense of victory.

Esmeralda heard the whistle, frowned and rode towards it. She gave a relieved little sigh, five minutes later, when she spotted Emily driving the cows back towards her. Looping around, she came to join the other girl.
"Where were they?" she asked, riding ahead and to the side slightly to keep the animals boxed in.

From the dawning of time and into the darkest eternity . . Finally situated on Dante and out of the barn, Tuck watched as the girl named Emily herded the cows back. He smiled and let out a cheer for her. "Way ta go, girl!" he called, standing up in the stirrups and waving his black hat over his head.. . There can and has been only one Eternal Truth.

Just as Esmeralda got herself situated, Sahara's ears suddenly perked forward and her head began to toss. She'd seen something she didn't like. Confused, Esmeralda looked up to see a guy yelling and waving his hat. At first, she looked for something else - a wolf, maybe, or a coyote. Then she figured it out - the person himself was scaring the horse. Alarmed, she tightened her grip on the reins.
Just as she caught on, though, Sahara decided she'd had enough of this terrifying thing. She tossed her head, bucked wildly and bolted, sending Esmeralda flying over her head.
When she hit the ground, Esmeralda heard an ugly crack...and then nothing.

" I found these three north from the herd" Emily replied while pointing behind her shoulder towards the place where she found the three.
Emily manuvered Apollo so that she was riding beside the cows rather than behind them. She herded them towards the main herd then headed to Keith. Emily was grinning from the fact that she had accomplished something here rather than not doing anything.
" That makes one hundred" Emily said while tapping lightly on his paper.
Emily wheeled her head just in time to hear Sahara have a sudden freak out. She kicked Apollo into a wild gallop and brought him to a jerking halt to a fallen Esmeralda. Emily dismounted and ran to Esmeralda's side.
" Keith!!" Emily shouted while staying calm.

Sahara bolted through the cattle, running back towards the barn. She stopped dead upon seeing Keith, spun and ran back towards her fallen rider.
Slowing down once she began to calm, the horse approached Esmeralda and Emily cautiously, lowering her head to whuffle at Esmeralda's hair before looking at Emily with big, apologetic eyes. What happened? the eyes seemed to ask. What's my rider doing down there?

Emily patted Sahara on the head and Smiled when Apollo came to her side. She had this only happen once and thankfully she knew what to do. Apollo nicked at her hair and laid down to take a break. The best Emily and Apollo could do was wait for Keith to help her with Esmeralda.

Esmeralda stirred slightly. Her eyes opened, and there was a dazed look in them. "What--?" she began.
Sahara immediately stuck her nose in Esmeralda's face with another low whicker. The girl's eyes cleared slightly. "I...fell," she said after a moment. "Right?" Her eyes darted to Emily and she winced a little. "Right?" she asked again, pleading a little. The truth was, she couldn't really remember what had happened at all. But if she was on the ground and there was a horse nuzzling her, she assumed that had to be what had happened.

Keith pointed to Tuck and waved once, then he jumped from B's back and hurried over to Esmeralda. Don't move, just lay there. Yes, you fell. Are you hurting anywhere? keith's voice was calm though his jaw was set and his eyes where tight.

" I think she broke her arm" Emily said sighing deeply.
She hoped today was going to be fun; but that changed in an instant. Now Emily had to worry over her friend. Emily scooted away from Esmeralda to give Keith some room. Instead she sat near Apollo and liad her head on his shoulder while keeping an eye on Esmeralda.

I see, Keith sighed as he spoke and gentally began to feel along Esmeralda's collarbone, making sure it wasn't broken or dislocated. Emily, would you ride back and grab Shannon for me? And tell that boy to hush up.

" On it" Emily said patting Keith on the shouler and mounting Apollo.
She spurred Apollo back to the stables as fast as he could run. Emily loved the feeling of the wind and the pounding of the hooves. She leaned down till she was neck and neck with him. Her eyes made out the rnach and urgently nudged him to go faster. Emily had no time to stop Apollo and brought him to a halt inside the stables.
" Shannon we have an emergency at the fields" Emily said
