"Your wings aren't big enough yet!" he whispered, seeing his mom lie down to sleep. He sneezed at the feathers regardless, and stuck his tongue out.
Daniel draped a wing over Umi and settled his muscles, "Good night, Umi."

Kasumi was climbing a tree by herself just outside the cave. She was not aware of the sudden growth of her wings, though the clothes her Daddy gave her made her comfy.
Umicho nudged her mate and motioned to their daughter. "Her wings are bigger Daniel. Why not give her lessons?" She then turned to find her son.

Lawrence was long gone, having left the den before anyone else had awoken to explore a bit now that he would much more easily be able to take care of himself. He was more protected from the elements with his new clothing, and felt that it was time to learn by discovery, as opposed to being taught by his parents.
Daniel followed his mate's eyes, smiling slightly, "I suppose I should, hm? Sounds like something fun to do today..." He rose and stretched, though kept his wings pinned to his back until he left for the day - there wasn't enough room to extend them fully.

Kasumi reached the top of the tree, smiling as a breeze blew past her. It was a warm day with a cool breeze. Perfect to be outside. As her Father stretched and left the cave, she looked down and smiled brightly. "Hi Daddy!"

Lawrence peered ovre a cliff face, his eyebrows raised. He hadn't been this far from their den before, and didn't even know they were up on this cliff. He peered around a bit, then leaned closer to the edge. It wasn't a high cliff, but he had only been on hills and flat ground, so he was impressed.
As this thought crossed his mind, the rocks under his feet began to give under his weight. Not expecting this, or even quite knowing what was happening, Lawrence froze in fear, and when the rocks started to tumble down the side of the cliff he scrambled to get his claws over the edge. He missed, and rolled/tumbled down the cliff face, trying to grab anything he could to stop him from landing on the pile of irregularly-shaped rocks. He ended up grabbing a protruding tree, both of his sets of claws dug into the rough bark, and he finally stopped his descent, hanging about 15 feet from the ground where the rocks settled in a rumble. "....Whoah."
Daniel smiled up at his daughter, inwardly grinning that she apparently wasn't afraid of heights. "Hey!" He stretched his wings out all the way now, glad to loosen the stiff muscles. "I thought that I could start teaching you how to fly today, hm?"

Umicho, seeing that everybody else was out, decided to go out and hunt for the day. Possibly take a swim if she ran across a nice looking lake or river. She padded out of the den, smiling at her mate and daughter, then headed out to a trail that lead down a cliff.
This was a trail she was used to, so a few loose rocks easily tripped her clumsy paws up. With a thud she landed on her stomach, then continued rolling all the way down the trail. A tree trunk rammed into her back stopped her. She blacked out from the pain in silence...
Kasumi jumped down, trying to glide, but only succeeding in landing hard on her rump. She let out a yelp and burst into tears at her Father's feet. "Daaadddyyyy!!!"

Lawrence took a moment to catch his breath and do a brief system-check to make sure he wasn't seriously hurt. Everything seemed fine, so he let go of the branch and landed on the settled rocks below him. Now that he was on the ground, he checked himself over - a few minor cuts and scrapes i various places on his body, and some newly-forming bruises beneath his coat, but very little more serious that that and some rips in his clothing. He peered around him, wondering how exactly he was supposed to get back up the cliff... It seemed to go on for quite a distance on either side, so he started in one direction, really hoping they didn't live on a mountain.
Daniel bent down and nuzzled his daughter when she started wailing his name, but he smiled cheerfully, "Don't cry, we all have to fall before we can fly," he said warmly, lifting her up by her scruff - with a bit of effort, now that she was getting so big. "You better get ready for that to happen a lot!" he said with an even bigger, goofy smile with a lick to her cheek.

Umicho simply lay with her hind legs in the air, her back against the tree trunk. She was pretty much upside down resting on her upper back.
Kasumi Stops crying as her Father talks to her, then laughs as he lifts her up. She nuzzles her father, spreading her wings. "You fell down a lot too?"

((Small break from Lawrence, since he's just following a cliff, lol...))
"Of course, love," he said, smiling slightly and nodding. "My mother taught me, and she told me that she fell a lot, too. And she had to teach herself!" Daniel started to lead her over to a mid-sized hill that wasn't too steep - easy to run up to gain some momentum, but not too high that it would hurt to fall, even if she cleared the hillside.

"Yay! I bet I'll fly really high someday just like you Daddy!" She bounded after him as he walked to a hill. She sat at his big paws, waiting to get instructions for how to start. "Can I meet my Grandma someday Daddy?"

"I haven't seen my mother in quite some time," he replied thoughtfully, looking up to the sky as if expecting to see her gliding by. He was quiet a moment, then smiled down at Kasumi, "Ok, I guess the easiest way to start is to try it, first, and see what happens," he said with a big smile. "Start be running up the hill at full speed, then jump before it starts going down again. Flap your wings... Eventually, you'll feel the wind and be able to start, so I guess this is a good exercise to start to get a feel for that," he explained, gesturing with his paw as he explained the winds.

Kasumi stands at her Father's big paws, then takes off at a run, her wings spreading out. Carefully she does as she was instructed, then jumps a tad early. The early start causes her to glide into the hill with a thud.
She heads back down and runs again. After several failed tries, she takes off, flapping as she'd been shown. "Daddy!! I'm flying!"

Daniel trotted to the top of the hill as she took off, grinning as his daughter was airborne, "There you go!" he shouted after her, excited and stretching his wings fully and dancing around a bit.

Kasumi laughs happily, a bright smile spread across her face. Her wings flapped lightly to keep her up, but tired quickly after, they were still not big enough to carry her fully. With a yip she lands on her Father's back, then starts laughing more.

Daniel grinned, looking over his shoulder at his daughter, "There you go!" he said, licking her cheek. "That's the basics of it, the rest of it is just practice."
