---- I’m so very sorry this issue took so long. I had some major issues with images, like the folder they were in somehow disappearing from my computer. Anyways, I actually am fairly proud of this issue. I’ve brought back both the Witch or Wizard of the month as well as the awards. Unfortunately, the third and final part of the Editor Kidnap story has been postponed, due to the editor being a decapitated has-been. Well, without further excuses, I give you the Halloween Issue! I hope you all enjoy it!

1 The Hogwarts Monthly Wishes You A Happy Halloween! -----The Hogwarts Monthly hopes your Halloween is full of tricks and treats and we would also like to tell you the story of a certain nearly beheaded ghost. Yes, that’s right kids, it’s the very poem that Nearly Headless Nick recited in Harry’s first year at Hogwarts.
Nearly Headless Nick’s Decapitation Poem
It was a mistake any wizard could make Who was tired and caught on the hop One piffling error, and then, to my terror, I found myself facing the chop. Alas for the eve when I met Lady Grieve A-strolling in the park in the dusk! She was of the belief I could straighten her teeth Next moment she’d sprouted a tusk. I cried through the night that I’d soon put her right But the process of justice was lax; They’d brought out the block, though they’d mislaid the rock Where they usually sharpened the axe. Next morning at dawn, with a face of forlorn, The priest said to try not to cry, “You can come just like that, no, you won’t need a hat,” And I knew my end must be nigh. The man in the mask who would have the sad task Of cleaving my head from my neck, Said “Nick, if you please, will you get to your knees,” And I turned to a gibbering wreck. “This may sting a bit” said the crack-handed twit As he swung the axe up in the air, But oh, the blunt blade! No difference it made, My head was still definitely there. The axeman he hacked and he wacked and he thwacked, “Wont be to long”, he assured me, But quick it was not, and the bone-headed clot Took forty-five goes ‘til he floored me. And so I was dead, but my faithful old head It never saw fit to desert me, It still lingers on, that’s the end of my song, And now, please applaud, or you’ll hurt me.

2 My Interview with the Ghost Hosts By Storm Teneviel
-----Planning for this year's Fright week, although enjoyable, has been no picnic, especially for those hosting the events: Our very own ghost hosts. Angilwingz, the ghost of twilight, made no hesitation to plan and run the event, but was very thankful to receive help from IceeWitch, the ghost of spook, Reese_Roper, the ghost of treat, and KTweirdchick, the ghost of trick. -----Angilwingz has had a hand in planning many past guild events, including last year's Fright Week, and as well as planning and commencing the event, she will be running the lottery and costume contest. She divulged that because she had not been a ghost very long, her favorite part of Halloween definitely had to be the costumes. "I just love to dress up. I love to have a costume that's original and different than everyone else, and I love to dress like I normally cannot. She refused to tell what it was like to be a ghost, and merely smiled wickedly when asked if she had anything more to say. -----Iceewitch had a mysterious gleam in her eye as she explained her duties. "Well it turns out I've been chosen to handle all the tricks and treating at this er- party. I've chosen 10 vic- er party guests that I feel everyone should know by now. I've been watching them for quite some time. It is up to the guests to decide who those I've chosen are! Or risk being stuck in the room with me and my pals forever!" However, she could not recall whether or not she had done anything similar before or not, claiming she had been a ghost so long that she "[couldn't] remember every excruciating detail. " She has been a ghost since the Revolution, and often feels as though "people are looking right through [her]." Not surprisingly, her favorite aspect of Halloween is the spook. She seemed very enthusiastic in claiming: "I live for the spook! Halloween is the spookiest of all holidays! It is a ghost's biggest dream!" She also wanted the guests to know that they were about to enter a room full of surprises. -----KTweirdchick, as the founder of the guild's duelling club, her job of asking trivia, was "no new thing". The exception here is that correct answers will be awarded prizes instead of house points, and neither has she ever "experienced such an organized event." Like Angilwingz, she enjoys the costumes most, but in a slightly different way: "Mostly watching the little kids all dressed up. I love looking out the window or walking around and seeing a little tiny monster or even a budding Hermione Granger or hobbit... " During our interview, it could not go unnoticed that her head was not attached, she had this to say on the matter: "Well, I knew he'd heal one day. You see, I hexed my ex-husband, Robert Dalton, when he left me for another woman. He was in St. Mungo's Permanent Damage ward for a long time and even married his care-taker. But apparently he healed, because one day I went to get my coat out of the closet and there he was. Oh, he didn't kill me, he was just trying to get me to take him back, but his unexpected appearance made me jump back and I fell and...well...I'd rather not talk about it....Anyways, being a ghost isn't so bad. My husband Westley died of a freak knight bus accident a year or so before I did and so I'm with him. I'm mostly glad Westley and I are able to still talk to our son Evan. Obviously it's just not the same, but I suppose things could be worse. I also get to haunt Robert, who upon accidentally killing me, had a relapse of the hex I put on him and if I pop out of the cupboard or ceiling at St. Mungo's he freaks out and has to be confined for a week before he calms down again. I think it's a fair price... Only thing is that I think my death has upset poor Figgy. She has a habit of trying to follow me through walls...poor thing. Though I'm not really sure how she's still alive. She's very old by now." After regaining her composer, she wanted everyone to know that "the headless hunt isn't all it's cracked up to be", that "the Bloody Barren is actually quite a sweetie", and that they should all drink the punch... -----Last, but certainly not least, Reese_Roper. She helped run the secret Santa event last Christmas, however has never done anything quite like what she's volunteered to do this time around. She will "be going around giving random donations to ten different people who qualify under different headings." Having been a ghost since the end of August, she seemed to take her death quite well, enjoying such activities as zipping through walls and spying on Charms classes. She revealed that she is always lurking everywhere, and is "quite excited for Nick's Death-Day party." Though she did not openly admit it, rumor has it that she has been "concocting a plan to swipe Sir Podmore's head." This reporter suggests KTweirdchick stay far away from her.

3 A Teacher's Plans Ruined By Angilwingz
-----When planning this event, Angilwingz asked around the guild for anyone who had anything to contribute to the festivities. Our Care of Magical Creatures professor: Hope Maxime Hagrid, had plans to introduce the students to her newly hatched rare Gwee Dragons. Unfortunately her plans were ruined when the baby dragons mysteriously went missing. Hope was too distraught to speak of the tragedy, but the following scenes were recorded by the school's security orbs:
-----Due to overwhelming evidence, Geo Storm was questioned. She admitted to the act, but supplied neither a reason nor a motive. Geo has had a history of causing trouble in this guild. She threw a fit when she was not sorted upon entry and then aided Grey_Temerity in the theft of the Sorting hat last February. Understandably, she has been given detention for the majority of the event and will have to aid the house elves in cleaning up afterwards.

4 Terror and Aliens Appear in Gaia with Ron Bruise By Figgy Prewett
-----A few weeks ago, shortly after a new plot development via magna cartoons that thoroughly confused and even angered many Gaians, a new NPC appeared active. Since then, all of Gaia has become flummoxed by this energetic and mysterious Gaian with the large nose. It has widely been decided that this NPC’s name is suggestive to the actor and scientologist, Tom Cruise. His bouncy personality has captured the hearts of some, while his suggestive comments, his nose, and his ability to create lightning frightens some and even makes some have loathing for this newly introduced character. Dozens of theories sprung up from his introduction, most of which said that this new NPC must be an alien of some sort and had plans to destroy Gaia. Soon after this NPC became active, cows were accidentally let loose by Rancher Bill's idiot son. As is widely known, aliens have always had a sort of thing for cows. Following the cows, came crop circles in the maps. Terror and amazement increased on the 19th when UFO’s began to swarm the towns of Gaia. Twelve spaceships and a Mothership in all have been visiting the town centers of certain Gaia Town zip codes. These aliens seem to be somehow connected to Mr. Bruise and also seem to think that 19, which remains undiscovered, is the answer. On the 23rd your own Hogwarts Monthly reporter witness the UFO’s and witnessed one remark that it was a pity what would have to happen to us (Gaia) next. As the UFO’s continued to give the Gaians who waited for them in the night information, it seemed that Ron Bruise decided to strike out into the towns himself. Why he wasn’t wearing pants, is beyond any of us.

5 Gaia Reporter’s Take on recent Gaian Events By Cindy Donovinh
-----As Halloween draws ever nearer, the plot has begun to thicken like sausage gravy left out in the cold! Allow us to heat it up with piping-hot biscuits of news: -----There's been a massive influx of extra-terrestrial activity in Gaia Towns! A dozen UFOs and (one heck of a massive alien mothership) have been buzzing around our fair neighborhoods like shiny alien bees! Some of them are friendly, some of them are abusive, and some of them don't quite seem to be right in the head... -----Rumors of a romantic relationship between "UFO 9" and a Gaian have been spreading like wildfire. Can it be true? Is it strange, is it perverse, or is it meant to be? -----Millionaire gadabout Ron Bruise has been scampering around Towns as well, preferring the fountain in the center of the 001919 district, as well as his own tastefully-appointed home. Has he said anything of substance? No! But it's nice to see his smiling face nonetheless (or is it?). Ron's involvement with the aliens is still unknown, but one thing has become abundantly clear: "WHOOOOOO!" -----Recent reports indicate that Mr. Bruise has taken to wandering around with no pants on. A little risqué perhaps... or should we say Risky? Take a gander at those cheesy boxers! Yecch! -----Something alarming is afoot: several Gaia administrators have been abducted! Where have they been taken? Are they being wined and dined by alien fat-cats in swanky Zurg country clubs, or are they lying on operation tables with tubes sticking out of every available orifice (including some newly-created ones)? We just don't know. Perhaps even more disturbingly, alien heartthrob UFO 9 has recently gone missing! What in the world is happening around here? -----Reaction to the aliens has been mixed; some Gaians, fearful that the aliens might have evil intentions, have joined a shadowy organization known as GIB (Gaians in Black). The GIB are committed to gathering as much information about the aliens as possible, in an attempt to head off any possible annihilation that the aliens may have in store. They claim not to be anti-alien, but they certainly don't seem to put much trust in our intergalactic visitors! -----Several smaller pro-alien groups, such as PETU (People for the Ethical Treatment of UFOs) and GIT (Gaian Investigation Team) have started, but few have managed to gain the popular foothold that the skeptical cynics of the GIB now enjoy. -----Only time will tell what the true intentions of the aliens are...

6 Witch of the Month ----- I am proud to announce that the Hogwarts Monthly’s Witch or Wizard of the Month Award is back! For those younger (guild-wise) readers who don’t know what this award is; it is an award given to those whom have put a lot of effort into helping and improving the guild and deserves a little recognition. The receiver of this award is chosen on their activeness in the school and other activities, their personality, and any other redeeming qualities they may posses. Here's this month's choice!
She is well-known to anyone who has recently visited the Duelling Club, not to mention her fantastic Astronomy lessons, she’s...
Avatar34! Editor’s Note: I’d like to make a special thanks to this month’s winner, because she really does deserve it more than most of you know. When I was gone for basically all of this past summer, Lady Courtney took up the slack and ran the Duelling club for me, when I came back, she offered to continue and then, shortly after, had to apologize and leave the guild entirely. Avatar34, who had been Courtney’s sort of right-hand-er-girl, could have just let me go back to running the club, but instead she came to me and offered to help. It was her efforts to help keep the guild active that both enabled me and inspired me to begin working on the Hogwarts Monthly again. While our current and fabulous mod crew also helped a great deal in giving me the time to work on the paper, it was this girl’s help which moved me to really want to get this paper, that had once been our guild’s unique quality, back into action. So, she really is the only one who should get this Hogwarts Monthly Witch of the Month Award, because, without her help, there probably wouldn’t be one at all. My interview with Avatar:
Q: What, if you are willing to disclose, is your name? A:Well, My real name is Christina, but I go by Tina.
Q: How did you discover Gaia and, eventually, our lovely guild? A: I discover Gaia through one of my best friends and she doesn't live close so at first I only started so I could talk to her. Then when I got into Harry Potter Books, I was on Gaia one day and I was already in two different guilds for two of my favorite t.v. shows. Anyway I typed in Harry Potter in the Guild search and found several different ones. I wound up picking this guild because well it looked like more fun than the others with classes and the idea of starting as an Elf, and just that everyone gets along no matter what House you are in or even if your an Elf, everyone was treated with respect and when anybody had a question it was answered, I guess what I'm trying to say is that no one looked down on you just because or your year or if you just started and were an Elf.
Q: You've sort of taken to bulk of the Dueling Club duties, how do you feel about that? Does it ever feel like too much work? A: I really like being a part of the Dueling Club, I don't mind if I take the bulk of it. To tell you the truth, isn't too much work, and if it does every now and again there are others to help, such as Freeriver who is also an Instructor.
Q: You're also the Astronomy teacher, do you find it difficult to juggle the two occupations? A:Actually no, it's not that difficult. I want to be an Archeologist, so ancient beliefs and stories of the stars and things along those lines are things I really love to learn about.
Q: Also, as the Astronomy teacher, you probably read a lot about those whom J.K. Rowling has named her characters after. What is your favorite connection between an Astrological myth and their counterpart created by Rowling? What's the weirdest connection? A:I have to say right now my favorite constellation is Draco the Dragon, however, I think it doesn't quite give you enough information to say Draco Malfoy will go either one way or the other in Book Seven. To me right now since there are so many lose ends I think that fact that the hero Hercules kills him in the end might come in somewhere though. I'm also interested in the constellation Andromeda, since that was Tonks mother' name.
Q: As a sort of objective outsider, what are your feelings toward the coming up Fright Week? A:I never really participated in past. I'm very excited to see what it is all about this term. I can't wait to see everyone's costumes.
Q: What is your favorite guild sub-forum to chat in? A: I really have three that I chat in the most, such as: The Halls of Learning(Classrooms), Around Hogwarts (Role-playing), and Heard it in the Hallway(Discussion).
Q: What has been your, so far, favorite memory of the guild? A: So far, I would say my favorite memory is being chosen for a Prefect.
Q: What about worst? A: My worst would probably be when I found out my House had not won the first year I was here as a student. It wasn't terrible; it would have been nice to win two years in a row though. I haven't had a truly terrible memory of the guild.
Q: What is your favorite book/author outside of Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling? A:I really like the series The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur, and Romeo and Juliet.
Q: Within the Harry Potter books, which is your favorite character? Which do you think you are most like? A:I don't know that I have a favorite character in the books, I honestly like all the characters, If I had to choose thought I would say Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, Ginny, Sirius, and Dumbledore. I have to say that I'm probably most like Hermione; I have a tendency to read a lot!
Q: Let's say, you are walking down the street in London and you see J.K. herself! If you could ask J.K. any question about anything (like the books) what would it be? A: I would probably ask her who R.A.B. is, if it was Sirius's brother or not.
Q: What do you think about being chosen as the Witch of the Month? A: Honored, I wasn't expecting it and I'm glad that everyone seems to like what I do in the Guild.
Q: Finally, is there anything else you want to tell the readers? A: Just Thanks to everyone for being so kind when I started the guild till this day.
-----Well, there you have it kids. If you would like to nominate someone for next month’s Witch or Wizard of the Month; please PM the HogwartsMonthlyRep. We would love for this award to have more guild member participation. Thank you and, until next time, be active, be helpful, and show support for your guild!
