"You can say that all you like," Corrah replied, the corners of his mouth turning up in a smile, "but I won't believe it until I see it. Prove it to me by showing me. Work hard. Train hard. Improve yourself. And we will see who beats whom in the end."
He turned his eyes from Ruran finally and turned to glare at the wolves that surrounded them, his icy blue eyes blazing, and the wolves snarled and retreated to the cover of the trees.

For once Ruran did not yell or get angry as Corrah asked for him to prove his worth. He smirked at the smile, "OH I will prove it....I will beat them all!" He laughed and let out a loud whoop.
"I will never let them beat me!" he called out. Not paying attention to the wolves. He was starting to form his own hunting list...and blood lust. He would not allow his sister to get better than him, he would break their wills to continue training if he had too but he would show them where females belonged.

Corrah couldn't help but chuckle. This boy was going to be an impressive student - if he managed to keep himself in check.
"Then your first task has been given to you," he nodded. "Get down from where you are ... safely."
He had to add that this time, because earlier he hadn't cared if the boy broke his legs - not that he had thought Ruran would be stupid enough - but now he wanted to see if he could actually make something of himself.

Ruran tried not to wince. He thought he and Corrah were making it off well and still he had to figure out how to get down."I wanted to last at least until the morning....but...Could you please put me down sir." his voice was sincere though his eyes would not meet Corrah's his pride was still too high.

Corrah nodded, satisfied.
"It's best not to wait until you're exhausted or weak," he told Ruran as he lowered him to the ground. "Then you're asking out of weakness, not strength. Asking when you've still got your pride is the best way to show your strength."
He set Ruran on the ground but held his shirt for a moment longer.
"You okay? You're not going to fall over now, are you?"
Who knew after all if the boy's feet or legs were asleep or not.

Ruran nods, "I will never concide to my sisters until all my energy is gone." he said as he was lowered and he tried to get his feet right under him. It took him a mintue and then he nods, "I will not fall...but I don't think I will be able to use my arms for a bit...sir.."
He was already showing more respect for Corrah. And it seemed the only way to get threw his head was to force it in one way or another.

Corrah nodded and straightened, letting Ruran stand on his own.
"Then we should find somewhere for you to rest for tonight," he said softly, looking around. "There is a cave ... it is very dark, but the night predators cannot get you there."
To be fair though it was also dark outside now. The night had fully fallen, and only the stars and a thin sliver of moon lit the night.

Ruran laughed, "You don't need much light to sleep in." he said calmly and looks up at Corrah. "I will follow where you lead..." He sighed and looked around, "The wolves as still near huh?" he asked. He could not hear them but he felt someone's eyes on them.

"Wolves ... bears ..." Corrah nodded. "They are all out there, and this is one of their favourite areas. You won't make it far in your condition so we will be spending the night here."
He started off towards the cave where Niyana and Celebor had spent the night before. It was close, and it was safe.

Ruran nods, "And bears are very hard to kill..." he heard the story of people killed on a bear hunt and nods following behind Corrah, "And tomorrow we start training?"

Corrah raised one eyebrow and looked down at Ruran. "Your training began the moment I held you up in the air," he replied, hiding a grin. "So what I want you to do now is listen ... you have sharp elven hearing, you should be able to hear when the wolves start to follow us ... but you also have to train your hearing to improve beyond what is natural for elves, to hear their very heartbeat ..."
He paused at the edge of the ledge, next to the waterfall.
"Follow this, and you'll come to a small cavern behind the water," he explained. "I will stay out here tonight and guard ... and in the morning we will continue with your training until your sisters return with Armus."

Ruran raised a brow, "Holding me in the hair was training?" He sighed and tried to listen his eyes on Corrah's back but his ears straining to hear. He was right he could hear the wolves moving around them they were following but to either side.
He nods and moves to the ledge and holding his breath walked along it behind the water fall. He prayed he did not fall in because he could not swim just yet.

Corrah nodded and watched as the boy headed towards the cavern.
"Everything I do with you is training," he murmured softly, so that Ruran would not be able to hear him over the roaring of the water. "Remember that. You may not realize it, but it is."
He watched until Ruran was safely inside the cavern, then turned and faced the woods, watching for night predators.

Ruran did not like the darkness of the cave. So he stayed as close to the opening as he could. He would get some sleep and as soon as he lowered his head he was out.
Near the girls on the mountain side there was a soft growl and a quick howl. Then the bushes moved near Armus' right. And there was a small flash of eyes.

Armus felt a presence in the bushes near her, and she slipped a knife into her hand to prepare for the worst. Usually the nastier animals didn't appear in this area, but sometimes ... they did.
She eased herself slowly to her feet and looked around, her blue eyes serious as she searched for the source of the sound she had heard. What had it been? Where had it been?
She saw a flash of multicoloured eyes, and she blinked in surprise. What kind of creature had mis-matched eyes like that?
