One could tell Lucind was mildly surprised of his gesture, yet also grateful.
"Thank you."

She fell silent for several minutes and listened to the town's noises.

"Kraun?"

"Do you know what it means to be happy, or angry, or sad?"

The monk simply answered "No." to her question. He was made in such a way as to limit the weaknesses as a weapon, however, though it would seem like something very practical at first, as something that does not feel cannot be stopped by such emotions, it was also a weakness in itself as he would never understand why people would strive harder for something out of their reach or someone's personal motives.

It hadn't just occured to her that the monk wasn't able to experience any kind of emotion and thus reacted almost mechanically like a machine following its patterns of programming.
She wanted to hear a confirmation.

"And...do you know why it is like that?"
Once spoken out she thought the question to be stupid for he didn't seem to know much about himself anyway.

"No." he answered, just like that, a machine. The answer would be just as Lucind expected, he did not know.

Kraun stood up and let the robes fall around his legs and he walked to the edge of the building. It was starting to get late, and in the autumn, the sun began to set early as the world seemed begin to dim. He peered down into the streets as the town began to quiet down, vendors cleaning up their stalls or shoppers heading home for the day's dinner. He just watched them with his unjudging emotionless eyes, now open as they gazed into space.

It was getting cold on the stone floor and Lucind stood up, too, smoothing her coat.

She gazed past Kraun's back at the next building about a hundred metres away, leaned against the railing and shoved her hands into the pockets of her bluejeans.

The Half-Siren still wasn't sure about her aptitude for being a teacher but she had some confidence and silently thanked her father for pestering her with general education all those years she had lived with him.
But the question that had been raised now was: Was it possible to teach someone emotions? To give abstract explanations of it was no problem. But how to actually make someone feel different emotions?

Her eyes wandered to the monk. She chewed on her bottom lip.
She had an idea. If maybe...
Lucind frowned and shook her head.

It was time for her to go back to work so she told Kraun she would see him later.

* * *

The next morning Lucind sat in the tiny office, having scrambled eggs on toast and coffee. She watched a comedy anime series on the computer which made her laughing or chuckling from time to time.

When all the customers had gone their way and the employees had also left, going home for the day, the monk went back into the building. Quietly he went down into the cellar and into his room. He sat down in the day and closed his eyes as he began to cycle through the beads of the rosary, a neverending loop as night rolled by and the sun peeked over the horizon at the new day.

It wasnt until mid morning that he left the room, after the light of day spilled in through the small windows of the cellar. Moving up the steps, he could hear the sound of laughter. "Good morning." he said quietly when he slowly entered the room.

"Oh, good morning^^" She already added, "Slept well?", but then simply smiled instead.

"By the way, I got simple curtains for two of the metal shelves. Think they'll give a more friendly sight to your room. - Did you find the keys?"

Lucind made her way into the kitchen to put the rest of the eggs onto her plate.
"So, would you like to have a walk through the town?"

Keys? The monk never did bother locking the door ever, since he essentially had nothing that people would steal or dig through, he learned that there was no real point in doing so. "Lead the way." Kraun answered softly in response to the question.

Lucind had supposed he didn't need the key for his room but the other one was his way to get out of the building, so she mentioned it when he didn't react on her first answer.

Then she exchanged her slippers for black boots, put on coat and scarf and left the store with Kraun.

"Hmm..."

She sighed and leaned back once more to drink the last bit of her malt beer.
Maybe it was too risky after all if nobody knew the possible effects.

After leaving the inn, Lucind showed Kraun the magnificent gardens, laying around the merchant's area. On their way back to Feimurgan she added some more facts and news about Latent which she'd previously forgot.

Once they'd entered the store - a few employess were there to clean everything - Lucind asked the monk if he would like to learn the basics concerning working with a computer now or rather have some time for himself.

Again, the monk followed Lucind a small distance back and to her side as she gave her tour, his eyes cast downwards at the ground, of course, if they were open that is. The gardens were an interesting place, as most gardens were peaceful and usually quiet. And with the extra facts the woman added about the town, he made a small noise in acknowledgement. "Hmm."

It didnt matter too much when he learned something new, but if Lucind would offer it, Kraun would take the lesson. He nodded before letting her lead the way towards a computer.

She walked with him into her room for they would have more silence in there than down in the office were everyone was bustling around.
She took a folding chair out of one corner, put it to the one at her desk and asked Kraun to sit down.

Lucind started her little lesson with explaining what a computer was used for and named the parts it consisted of before starting it.
"I'm not good in explaining all those technical and electrical processes. To be honest, I've never really been interested in those - which makes it difficult, of course, when something's wrong, when the system has an error. But there are some books here,"she nodded to the left, where the library was,"in case you'd like to know more about it.

Then she opened the main programmes for him: writing and editing texts, working with photos and other things concerning graphic arts, creating charts or web pages and so on.

"So in the end, it's all about communication and saving data, I guess," she finished and waited if he had any questions.

Kraun understood the basics pretty easily. However, actually using a computer would probably prove different as knowing how something works and knowing how to use the machine, which of course, led to a question, "How do you use it?" he asked, looking at the large device.

How to actually use the computer was the next step in Lucind's lesson: what to do with the cursor, with right- and left-klick, how to open programmes and different menus, how to enter text, what were the main shortcut keys etc.

Finally she encouraged him to try it himself, and while he did so the woman started to tell him some things about the internet, a place where one could find almost everything: all kind of data and information.

He began to press the keys of the keyboard slowly as each corresponding letter appeared on the monitor. As Lucind spoke, Kraun would try out the functions of the machine, such as this internet. He began to use the mouse and click at various things as he scanned over the text appearing on the pages.

Watching the monk trying this and that Lucind sometimes added something new, explaining the usage of search engines, for example, or how to save pictures, download stuff and open it with a media player.

It seemed Kraun had no problems at all to understand it all and also remembered everything at once.
