Did anyone else notice the Skull motif on everything? The nude statues in the auditoium had skulls at their feet, The gondola had a skull on the front. AND in the movie, the Opera House is going through restoration (mentioned in the screenplay), so, I take that to mean that Erik had something to do with it. I can imagine him sneaking around, switching plans at night in order to perfect "his" Opera House.
Also, when you watch the trailer, The WB logo is surrounded by skeletons. ^.^

Actually, it's mentioned in the book somewhere that Erik helped Charles Garnier build his Opera house. So I imagine he had a hand in the interior and exterior designing. That and such figures were common those days. "Morbidly beautiful" things were a favorite.

I know this guild supports the movie...

I kind of do too. Its opened Phantom up to the public, more people are aware of it now.

But I simply cannot be the only one who is annoyed with the type of phans its attracted! The reason I'm just ranting about it now is because I just found this ...

No! Thats wrong! Thats completely and utterly not what you're suppose to get from Eriks character. Now, I wouldn't mind it if they made some "physical fanlisting" for a character that is unattractive... to each his/her own, but the entire plot of PotO is based around the fact that the character Erik is god-awful ugly!! I wish that site had a forum, so I could just post something like This, and ask them if they're all still interested in his physical appearance pirate

Ahem... sorry for that rant. Anyone else have experiences with this that they need to vent about too?

You know, I liked the movie but... Once I saw the play, I was just like "Aw man, this thing sucks compared to the play"
I couldn't watch it farther than "Il Mutoh" sweatdrop

I HATE their verions of "Phantom of the Opera" because I think the stupid electric guitar (or whatever it is) is really out of place, and the stupid way his lair opens up annoys me. HOW THE HELL DOES THE LITTLE CURTAIN RISE?!

...Erik is a magician, and master architect. I'm sure he can concoct ways to turn many ordinary things into many fantastical events blaugh (Such as the multitude of trapdoors mentioned in the book, a mirror-way passage, and candles that stay lit in water xD)

The candles that stay lit in water were never in the book, I don't think.

The movie amuses me more than anything. The sets and things were lovely, but the acting is terrible, and I can't listen to Christine or the Phantom sing without pointing out every little technical flaw. But, eh... It's POTO. Even when it's bad, it's good.

It's been a while since the FIRST time I saw the movie. The First time I was confused but liked it. I saw it the second time and fell in love with it! The Phantom was cool and very cute! Christine was ok and so was Raoul. I love it so much! I have seen it 15 times now!! It was great to me! biggrin Though after hearing other singing I think it is sorta lacking but I am still in heart I am also very happy rite now cuz I finally have the Leroux book! biggrin

My sentiments exactly.

And Phantum, Erik is not supposed to be "cute". He's supposed to be hideous and repulsive. Unless, of course, you mean "cute" as in endearing, which I'd have to agree with. But...ehh...I still think that Gerard Butler made a very bad Erik.
