{Rolled in the Shimagakure thread..dice weren't working}

The hand on the lightning necklace loosened and began to fiddle around with the golden symbol. Serena was putting careful thought into her letter choice. 'H', 'I', and 'E'. Maybe it was time for another consonant. She was also careful to temporarily strike out 'O', 'U', 'V', and 'C' for now as she had sensed before that he might have been tricking her. Maybe an 'S' would work just like he asked. The young Raiken didn't really feel like putting much thought into the word this turn, but was still careful with her decision. "What about an 'S'?" She balled her hand up into a fist around the lightning and began explaining. "Well..I mean, memories with my parents..so yes, my family and my clan. And..I uhh..never really thought about that. And..I don't really know..how to send a letter." She tried to avoid saying that last part too loud. It was kind of embarrasing and stupid. Why hadn't she thought of that? She could've just asked someone to teach her how to write a letter to her home village! Stupid, stupid, stupid. Next time she wouold actually try doing that. Now the Raiken had completely forgotten the sly smile..she was too busy thinking about how stupid she was for not writing a letter. "Well anyways, hopfully they are alive because I've only been on my own in Shima for a a year and a half or so." Then she stopped to think. Why was she telling him this? He wasn't telling her anything about him! Now she it was her turn to ask a question. Serena was totally oblivious to the fact that the snake boy was trying to distract her, though. She thought he was trying to do something else..something she didn't know yet. "So..what's your story?"

[Roll was made in the Recruitment Thread pg 13]

“Damn it. How is she getting this…” the snake youth thought to his self. This was beginning to get infuriating. How was she able to answer them so quickly? The smile on her face finally gone which meant she her attention had to be divided, but she could still get them. Shisei didn’t answer right away, but allowed stary eyes to give an answer. The last part of her sentence came out like an uncertain squeak. Pale ears were just able to make out what she said. The snake child did not reply outward, but his mind was slightly in shock and even more irritated now. “What!?!? She doesn’t know how to write a letter? Me! I’m losing to someone who doesn’t know how to write a letter? Where is the justice in this world…” Certainly justice and rational had taken an unexpected absence the moment the snake youth stepped on the island. First the girl the night of the leviathan. Then there was the jade headed boy. Now this night haired vixen. It was good that heart reaper had left. This was becoming embarrassing.

Shisei barely heard when her lips released the amount of time she had been on the island. His hearing organs did pick up when she asked about him. “Yes… there is an ‘S’…” his throat muttered first before thinking of just ‘what his story’ was. That could take a while it would probably be better if she be more specific. “Well… what do you want to know?” young snake’s voice asked. At the same time his mind was contemplating what next to ask her. Maybe she may mistakenly loose her guard when he guessed. Although guessing was still troublesome. Just how much could his mind contemplate with only one letter? Her name could be anything from Atsuko to Zetana. ‘E’ and ‘S’ could still be possibilities, but what are the chances? Shisei would have to randomly try another letter. He would slip it in between a question. “Sending a letter is not hard. It is simple. How come your family hasn’t come to visit you? I’ll guess an ‘N’. There is another boy on this island with the same symbol on his shirt. Are the two of you not related? Ohh and why do you think your parents would not be alive?” his mouth further questioned. The more questions he asked, hopefully the more her guard would fall.

Apparently this boy wanted to know some background on Serena. She looked at those perfect staring eyes as they questioned her troublesomely. She never gave thought about herself really. The Raiken was always so focused in doing good at the Academy that she never stopped to put thought into everything he was asking. Now was the time to, though, if she didn't want this snake boy to mock her anymore. She had gotten and 'S' right which meant she had 4 letters of his name. There were only two more letters to go, if only she could find out which two.."Well, I mean..I guess where you came from and why you came here. And what clan you're from.." That was all she could think of for now. He looked so different from the other people of Shima..everytime she looked at him the first word in her mind would be 'snake'. There had to be some reason why he's always so grumpy and snakelike. "My parents are always busy on missions and stuff. There's one reason why they haven't visited and one reason for not knowing if they're alive." She avoided the first statement about how sending a letter was so easy. "You mean Kiba? Well yeah, we're part of the same clan, but I don't know how closely related we are. I haven't seen him in a while though.." Serena sighed. "Yes, there is a N in my name. And apparently there's an S in both of our names.." Oops. The Raiken shouldn't have given away that last amount of information. She had completely forgotten that he might not have known that her name had an S. That would mean he knew an extra letter now. All she could do was wait and see whether or not he caught her slip.

[This is a test to confirm something about the roll.... It works.]

Yes. Ok was a small breakthrough, but it was a start. An ‘N’ and an ‘A’. She even possibly stated that there was an ‘S’. Unless the girl was trying to trick him. Shisei still doubted how far she could actually go to trick him, but he wasn’t in the position to haphazardly assume things. Until it was his brain’s next turn to guess he would just keep that as a check in the back of his mind. It seemed the conversation was working though. All the snake child had to keep doing was keep the discussion engaging, but not to strife on any touchy subjects. That just may close up all doors of the girl speaking.

Both amber eyes peered into the darkened sky. Pale skin could feel the cool black wind brush against his face and clothing. Signaling the day’s end and that they should be retreating to indoors soon. The snake student was not willing to move as yet. The little game was becoming as long as chess games with two evenly matched players. “Well there goes another day at going to the library…. Damn I also forgot about that bunch at the playground.” Shisei’s mind had contemplated. This preteen before him had taken up so much of his time today. At the same time the snake child felt that twinkle eyes did not even know just how much she was aggravating him. At the same time though, she was slightly intriguing. Only slightly. There was something about that coy smile. As if she had complete control of a situation or she was just clueless. Although the smiling veil was gone amidst their chat.

Once her mouth had finished the sentence amber eyes chose to respond to her question. “I was born in the Orochi village, but I came from my last home. The border between Wind and River Country. I am of the Orochi clan.” The boy replied as if being interviewed. His answers gave nothing more and nothing less. Shisei wasn’t trying to be so strict and terse with his answers, but that is the only way he knew. His last answer was the only one Shisei had to think about. The other questions had been asked many times before so his tongue could automatically repeat the same answer word for word. Like he did for all his years alive. The last question was one he actually had to think about.

Yes the dread head was always curious about this thing that shinobi use called jutsu. Yes he wanted to learn as many of them as possible. There even other things he wanted to use them for, but why? Why this place called Shimagakure did he come to? No told him to find his way here? Yet after about six months of wandering he decided to wander around and find this place. “Why did I come here…. I guess because there is no other place for me to go.” his voice stated clearly. This time though the gold eyes stared off into the sky contemplating his answer. After a few seconds the two suns returned their lock on the stary eyed teen. There were still questions to ask her. Keep her mind thinking and distracted to win this game. That was the purpose.

“An ‘N’ just might be in both our names….” Shisei stated, allowing the end of the sentence to drag out. Maybe she would take that bait while his mind created a few questions to ask her. The boy she just mentioned. She let out a small sigh after speaking about him. That could be a key influence. “Do you want to meet this Kiba more often? I’m sure it could be arranged. He has been around. Fellow clan members should get to know one another. Maybe he is also in your same situation?” the violet hair child spoke again. Keeping the subject about her clan and this Kiba, the boy with lightning on his chest, may just be the thing to allow the gap between them to decrease.

{Whoo~the dice work}

Serena looked up through the towering green bamboo stalks that shadowed over her through the hazy light that broke through the clouds. It was dark already and she hadn't noticed. The same calm and peaceful air of the forest continued to circle around her, creating a habit for the girl to take deep breaths every now and then to enjoy the crisp freshness of the air. A hint of cold could be felt surrounding her, but it didn't really bother her. It gave more of a relaxed feeling right now when it should have made her stiff. She nodded once as the snake boy explained his history. More like just answering her questions. "The Orochi clan..that 's the first time I've heard of that clan...sounds very different from the Raiken clan.." The young Raiken's head cocked sideways when the boy claimed that he came to Shimagakure just because there was nowhere to go. "Funny you should end up in Shima...you really are something." By that something..she meant the only one that actually challenged her mind in more than one way in such little time. No other person has ever questioned her enough to make her think about every single answer she had to make. "Well..I thought I'd be seeing him more since we were in the same class before..the day I was spying on the first years..you know. I'll have to turn down your offer. I think I'll meet him in my own time rather than have it arranged, like today for example." The shine in her eyes didn't reflect much tonight, as the light was dim, but a hazy glow could be seen radiating from the grey eyes like they were trying to be mysterious--holding back a secret no one should know of. The slight smile began to come back as the boy brought her back to thinking."Well..maybe an 'N' could be in both of our names..what do you think? There's one in mine..do you think there's one in yours?

“Sure. Why wouldn’t there be an 'N'? How could I lie to you?” Shisei replied back in a slightly mocking tone. That smile was beginning to return to her face. Using the Raiken boy did not help. It just brought her back to the game. Her eyes did not sparkle like stars as much as they did in the day time. The night had given both of her pupils a faint, misty glow. A mist that was beginning to cloud all answers from him. Different from his pupils that radiated fervently against the darkness. The snake child new he had to keep her distracted at least until he regained control. Yet with only two letters, that hardly made a name. Her name could have been Natsui, Nataku, Annali or any other thing under the moon. At this thought process is when something occurred to him.

“Could she be doing the same thing as I?” the snake youth asked his brain. An ace that he had was that the girl did not know his name had two pairs of the same letter. Yet could her name also be similar? There would be no way of figuring that out unless he put his own name on the line. A dangerous move. That meant that every gear in the student’s skull would have to work as fast as a cheetah could run to guess her name. If, not sooner or later that obliviously smart head of hers would figure out the answer. Before asking Shisei had to think a little about his past choices. “She let ‘S’ slip before… although that might be a trick. There were also the letter ‘E’. If I assume S E N A is correct that would be four letters. I could guess at different names from there… but I still need confirmation. Before I can know for sure I need to know if she has multiple letters in her name. I’ll have to gauge her reaction to it.

“Heh. A funny thought just occurred. It would be hard to guess either of our names if there was two or more of the same letter in it." The snake child stated as if it was a fugitive thought from his head. Sly smile would hear it. Hopefully it would also make her second guess herself. Now it was his turn to guess. Shisei also had to confirm if any of the past choices were correct. If S was... then that could mean... "Regardless I'll choose an 'S' for my answer. You did say we had that in common right?” The fanged mouth continued. It was still a risky move. If she caught on about the two letters, then there would be nothing Shisei could do. The only thing left now was to continue on with the questions to diverge her thoughts. Maybe she’d lose that tint in her eyes and the tricky smirk.

Perhaps maybe the focus should be on the snake youth himself. Her voice did pause when she said his clan. Little snake already knew the obvious reason, but it would be deterring conversation either way. “You’ve never met an Orochi before… I can tell. My clan is very different. From everything else…. Does that make you uneasy or concerned? The way how I look and talk? I know serpentine eyes isn’t something you would see everyday.” his voice stated. That should give her enough to contemplate at once. But just in case… “You said before I’m really something. What did you mean by that?”. Shisei had already known her answer for that. It would be something similar to what the other hundred plus have said about him and his sister. Still it was always fun to put them on the spot and see how they explain themselves. As Tanu had stated when they first met ‘Bakemono-suke’. Indeed a monster was what he was supposed to be to the rest of the world. Even if it was fact or fiction, the real truth would always remain. Orochi’s were meant to be different.

The hazy eyes gleamed under the shadows of the bamboo stalks and blinked. "Oh, yes of course there is an 'N' in your name. I'm sure you'd never lie to me just like I wouldn't to you." Serena let the words flow out of her mouth with a slight tone of sarcasm hidden within. Maybe there really was an 'N'. Nonetheless, she had stated that there was an 'N' in the snake's boy's name. For now she'll have to accept that it 'might' be in the name. The Raiken pondered at what the Orochi had to say next. It was actually true, for she knew that her name consisted of two 'E's, but only that was a double. Could he already know that her name might have doubles in them? Or maybe, he had doubles in his name, too. But no, he wouldn't give it away so easily. Or would he just to find out if her own name had doubles? Confusion began pouring into her head..as if there wasn't enough just thinking of letters to guess. "Hmm..I suppose you're right about that. It would be tough if one or both of our names had two of the same in them. If so, what do you suggest?" She looked to the corner of nowhere and then looked back, as if pondering over a very important situation. "Well, did I say that we both had an 'S' in our name? I guess so..if I had said it." Serena decided to let him have that one while she tried to remember his other questions. Orochi. The Orochi clan, he said he could tell she's never met an Orochi before and asked if it made her uncomfortable the way he was.."Well of course it's my first time..I had said I had never heard of the clan before." By the time she had gotten this far to answering questions, most of the last bit she had forgotten. The last question she remembered was what she meant when she had said he was 'really something'. She thought she wouldn't need to explain what she meant, but since he asked.."Well..I mean, you're the only one I have known so far as to be so..challenging of the mind. No one else I've met has ever gone so far to make me actually 'think' so much..even when guessing a name!" The Raiken made a point of what they were doing now. "By something..I guess kind of like a rival." She was getting off track a little bit, and realized this midway while speaking. As the last sentence trailed off, she stopped and waited patiently for another answer.

Shisei turned his amber orbs slightly away in embarrassment grumbling softly “Yes… you did say you never heard of the clan… guess that would mean you never came across an Orochi.”. Blast. That was a stupid statement. Now her absentmindedness was beginning to rub off on him. The Orochi child did see what he wanted. Her sight drifted from his slightly to rethink about there being the same letter repeated in the name. There was a good possibility that a letter was repeated over. Then she did not hide the fact that her name did have an ‘S’. Things were finally getting to how they should be. The gap was closing. The snake boy just had to keep pushing her thought process in different directions. This would be the best way. The next words out of her mouth though took the scaly student by surprise.

He challenged her? A rival? His white lips opened at first to say something, but closed. Shisei was unsure how to respond to this action. So far he did not think of the girl to be anymore than annoyance that he could not get rid of. Like a headache that he did not have medicine for. Yet she thought this highly of him? So far Shisei had only considered himself to be a rival to two, maybe three, people. That was the freckled girl who fought off Samehada the best of all the children. Yet she had disappeared since then. Then there was Tanu. Then again the snake child did not see Tanu as a rival. He despised it enough to consider the imp an enemy. The feeling was probably mutual. Although it was still too early to know just how that pink clothed rebel thought. If it ever did have an inkling of thought… The final person that might be now surfacing was Karite. Not much thought had been put into the lion handler as an opponent. Yet one day it would probably come to that.

Shisei was losing concentration. His eyes returned back towards the girl. This was no time to lose focus. Maybe that was her plan. Twinkle orbs was tricky, but the maverick child could also be cunning. More questions to continue deteriorating her concentration. “A rival. I’m not that special…” the snake child began, although that sentence was already a lie. He was too narcissistic to ever see himself less than special. Yet his voice would continue. “I’m sure someone as smart as you could have come to some of these conclusions, given the right atmosphere. Aren’t there other students that test your knowledge? Surely that very tall, timid boy is smart. Or perhaps the girl with white hair.” the dread head was referring to Shinobu and Akiko. His voice could not stop as yet. There still needed to be more inquiries to separate her mind from the game. “Do you prefer intellectual challenges to physical ones? And why do you prefer the one you like?”. That should be enough to keep her guessing. Now it was to push one step further with her guess.

“What letter would you like to try now? We have an ‘S’ in common. Possibly an ‘N’ too. Probably an ‘A’. I wonder what else we may have in common?”. The golden eye boy felt that was enough to keep her guessing. The wind blew his one purple bang across his face as the both eyes stared, unwavering at the sly smile.

Shikai wasn't feeling right. Ever since he had walked is first step and then exited the clinic, he didn't feel right. Of course, their was two thing that didn't help. The first was the lingering effect of the poison. The second where the bug. He was infested by those and even those their ten, he could feel them ''drinking'' his chakra. That's why he didn't feel to well and that's also why he was slowly making is way under a tree. He had tried many time in ''talking'' to those bug, but all he heard was a single response: Feed.

*Can't you just say anything else? Maybe I'm asking to much out of you. Just don't feed to much or you'll end up like your where before. Like I was myself before. Half dead, hafl living...*

Shikai sit down near the a tree and meditated on several on that ''problem''.

Gold eyes turned away for an instant from the cunning Raiken. At this time of night, someone else surprisingly made an entrance. It was a new face that Shisei was unaware of. The boy had his posterior placed under one of the dark oaks. His body seems to be deep in thought. “At this time of night…” the serpent youth thought as the taller looking boy made no other movements. Tall he was… perhaps an understatement. There was someone actually taller than the meter stick! The snake like child couldn’t make out much else about the youth aside from round glasses and a hoodie apparel over his head. It really was a mystery as to why this person would be here.

Maybe it was someone sparkle eyes knew. She stated that she and Kiba were the only other Raikens in the class… so he had to be someone else. Shisei had to keep focus on the main objective; win. Still perhaps this was someone ‘precious’ to the girl. Even if he wasn’t, at the right time this may prove advantageous. “Is it past your bed time or something? I think someone came looking for you.” the snake youth said to his witty adversary with a small amount of biting sarcasm.

The wind blew strands of delicate raven hair across Serena's forehead, as it had done for the snake boy's purple lock. The smile continued to show soft and sly, even after the boy had turned to confront a newcomer into the forest. This gave her some time to think to herself. 'Hmph..does he really not think of me as annoying to him? Not even like a rival? Of course Shin and Akiko..'The Raiken assumed that he was referring to them..'..are really intelligent, but they're not as outgoing as this guy right here. They wouldn't go 'this' far.' She continued to think to her self quickly with the little time she had left and let the cool wind blow across her pale face. It was getting dark and she was getting tired. Definitely something that might mess up her concentration. She pressed her lips together and thought. He was still turned to the other boy as she opened her mouth again to say one word, or letter, so to say. 'D' She wasn't going with the 'A' he had mentioned. She went with the 'S', then she went with the 'possible N'..she wasn't going to get fooled this time. There shouldn't be an 'A' in his name after all..he already had an I and an E! It would be horrible if he had double letters in his name..she'd have to consider that thought too. While she waited, the Raiken decided to confront the new boy, too. He was new, for she had never seen him around before..and rather tall. Really tall. And why was he wearing glasses at night? And something undefinable was on his face..coming from under his glasses. Serena had to get a closer look to be able to see what it was. Just to get back to annoying 'S' 'I' 'H' 'E', she gracefully danced over next to him and introduced herself. "Hi! I'm from the Raiken clan. What are you doing in the Bamboo Forest at this time of night?" She questioned cheerfully. The cheerfulness was to annoy the snake boy but also because she really did wonder what the other kid was doing here.

“The nerve of her… How dare she just turn away from me?” Shisei wondered. The young vixen was becoming an annoyance. If the Raiken opponent only knew what she was doing then perhaps it would be passable. No. Her brain probably had no idea of exactly what she was doing. That just made it all the more irritating. A girl who did not know how to right a letter was trying to make sport of him. The wily smirk that revealed nothing always tried to hold power of the serpent youth. The pale throat of Shisei felt a need to just call the girl ‘block head’. He had enough sense and decency to suppress this urge.

Instead the serpent youth had another idea. Now that her attention was turned it was time to get more close and personal. What little snake’s intention was to take her off guard. Perhaps she was the one who turned shy when the opposition was up close rather than being a few feet away. Her back was still turned trying to communicate with the person who was tall as one of these bamboo trees. His body quietly strode behind her. One white finger gave a poke to the girl’s lower back. “Don’t ignore me. You didn’t answer my all of my questions. Unless you want to spend some time alone with this person. If so then what is your name and I’ll be on my way.” his tongue whipped out a little sharply. The intention was to put her on the spot. Not only with the questions, but with the other male too. Girls did get all rosy cheeked when it came to some males. Or at least Shisei had heard. This may also be able to deter her mind. The dread head was planning to use everything in his mental arsenal to win this game. “ ‘D’ is not a correct answer. My turn so I think I’ll guess an… ‘R’.” The snake youth stated. His reason for guessing the ‘R’ was mainly because of the family name Raiken. The boy did not have much of an idea of what other letters to choose. That and lightning chain were his only clues. Still his brain still kept trying to figure out what her name could be. With three letters he could make a guess. Even if it was wrong it may just give a hint of what the actual answer maybe. Now to arrange the letters he could try Natski, Atsuna, Suzuna among others… There would only be one way to find out. “I’d like to make a guess. Your name wouldn’t be Natski or Suzuna now would it?” the serpent child questioned. Judging by her reaction maybe Shisei could uncover some mystery to the answer.

Serena turned her head to look back at the Orochi boy for a quick minute. "Didn't I? I thought I had...hmm" At least she thought she had..it turned out that she had only stated the answers in her mind rather than saying them out loud. He had heard the 'D' though, which was good. The wind was light and confortable now..it helped her stay awake to think a little better. Now her body was turned towards him as it had been before, her arms crossed. She had to face him to think about what sort of words she could reply with. "Ok..if you can start guessing names, then I can start guessing names, though I'm very doubtful we'll get much anywhere until we know all the letters to each other's name. Like if you knew I had an 'R' in my name..then of course Natsuki and Suzuna wouldn't be right.." she smiled and muttered something under her breath. "Only two letters off though.." The Raiken looked with watchful eyes at the other boy with them. He seemed..deep in thought. The gray eyes wandered back to the snake boy and thought out a few guesses for his name. She would wait for him to answer before she had her turn, though. Maybe there would be some kind of slip of information in what he said..

Shikai deep meditation was interrupted, by two voice. Shikai slowly opened up his eye, looking at a girl. With just a simple glimspe, Shikai analyzing mind came up with a conclusion, she had a little something. Maybe it was the average size, or the black pony tail...it was an interesting subject...has she had clearly stated it, Shikai caught a glimbse of her clan symbol. Is attention was distracted by the voice of the other boy. Shikai could fell arrogance, in the boy's voice. Not only that, Shikai quickly noticed the yellow eye's of the boy. He had also pale skin, almost has pale has Shikai own.

I'v seen those those eye's somewhere.....the snake.

Although he didn't seems like Shikai facial feature changed, for a split second, blank shock could shown on his face. But, in a matter of second, he was back to a normal...yet neutral look.

Such a strange boy. Such a strange specimen. And annoying to.

Shikai listened to the current conversation. It seem's they where trying to guess each other's name, while lieying at each other at the same time.

''Arrogant and cold'' he said to the boy. ''You won't get what you want by acting like that.''

''Has to why I am here...suffering.'' he said to the girl. Then he lay there, his eye closed again, feeling the bugs...crawling on his face and inside his skin.

They are closer to the outside...maybe they smelled something...familiar...the boy.

Altough this could be showed, since his collar was hiding his mouth, Shikai had a rather wild smirk on his face.

This new person was not having the desired effects that Shisei wanted. Instead the enigmatic pupils and fox smile were becoming increasingly difficult. She was reverting to her former ambiguous nature. What was worse it seems the reversion is because of this new person. Not as the snake child had envisioned. Perhaps it would be more sufficient to try another approach. The cogs within the reptilian brain began to slowly turn trying to figure out something. Another ace, just in case. In mean time he should address the new problem.

“I do things my way. Do things your way and sit there and suffer. Perhaps your way isn’t good if you’re in pain because of it.” the snake youth stated clearly with no sympathy for this above average height person. With closer inspection he could see a mark on his face below one of the night color lenses. Whoever this person be, whether friend to her or not, as long as his mouth stayed shut Shisei would not care.

On to the real issue. The girl. Her changing moods were beginning to confound the Orochi student. Maybe it was because it was so late in the night and the electric pulses of the brain were beginning to slow down. Maybe it was the irritating meditating drifter by the tree that caught his and the Raiken’s attention. Perhaps all this time she just had an elaborate trap or setup which Shisei was now falling into. Whatever reason it maybe the violet head would need an idea to get out. Considering what she just said about it being two letters off… That could mean ‘Q’ or ‘T’ if she was telling the truth. For now a more meek approach would have to do.

“Yes if I only knew if an ‘R’ is in your name… I wonder how many times you have lied about letters of your name. Considering you probably believe I have lied about mine.” fanged boy said with a bit of curiosity in his voice. This again was to gauge her reaction. A cringe of the cheek. A turn of the eye. A small quiver of the mouth. Something had to give her away. Although this may have been another risky move. Sparkles may just wonder about the question and recheck her steps on words that she used already. “It’s your turn. If you want to guess my name, take a try. You already have four letters. If I were you I’d try something with an ‘F’. It shouldn’t be that hard. Right?” his voice mockingly said as both gold suns interlocked with her shimmering eyes.
