Rouge shrugged at Victoria's question. And gave Becca an answer of her own. "The Professor's a pretty nice guy. I think he'd let you stay, even if you were getting your abilities from somewhere else other than from being a mutant. I mean, gifts are gifts and we've all got to learn how to use 'em. Whether they're as extreme as mutant powers, or as normal as the ability to cook. And teaching people how to manage abilities is the Professor's expertise."
Rogue shifted her weight from one foot to the other before continuing. "And in answer to your question about what I can do, let's just say that if your bare skin touched mine, I'd be shooting the sparks and you'd be out cold for a bit. But the effect's only temporary. You'd get your powers back a little while after you regained consciousness."
*****
Laura shrugged as Lance declined and sauntered off. She was only trying to be more social. Not that that was an easy task.
"His loss," she muttered.
She turned back to Morgan. "What do you feel like doing?"

Shandra pushed open the large door and walked in. She paused in the foyer and looked around. It didn't seem like anyone was very active right now. But then again she was just standing in the foyer.
'Professor,' she tried calling out mentally, the feeling was just a little different than thinking...like she was speaking loudly inside of her own mind. 'Uh...if you can hear me...we have a new one...'

She frowned slightly as her ears went back but she knew that'd be the best she'd get out of the cranky teenager. Kara went back into her room and closed the door gently then sat down on the bean bag chair that was stationed infront of the television, picked up the 360's controller and continued playing her Naruto video game.

"I guess," she said as Victoria dismissed her comment. "I could cosplay as a great Pikachu though.." she said trying to find something she could use her powers for.
"You never met him?" she said, more than a little surprised. She had guessed that each of the new recruits had spoken to him before taking up residence in the Mansion.
As Rogue spoke, Becca's eyes sparkled for a moment, hopeful that perhaps the girl could take her powers. Hearing it was only temporary, however, dimmed the gleam.
"Wow," she finally said as Rogue explained her gift. "I thought I had it bad," she said then blushed, embarrassed by how her comment sounded. "Do you ever practice with other people's powers?" she questioned, eager to not offend the girl.

{Blarg, brain not work good.}
"I've got no idea," Morgan replied honestly. He was truly fresh out of ideas for ways to spend the day. "Well, let's head back downstairs, and see if anything pops into our heads," he suggested, walking back towards the stairs.
"After you," he said, motioning for Laura to go ahead of him.

"This place didn't change much." Blade muttered as she entered after Shandra. Looking up the ceiling, Blade couldn't help but wonder how people would react to her sudden disappearance.

"You've been here before?" Shandra asked curiously as she turned around to look at Blade.
Her head tilted to the side and she blinked. If the girl, well not girl but she wasn't exactly a woman yet, had been here before how was it that she had gotten lost in the trees?

Blade grinned sheepishly. "Truth be told, it wasn't for long. I had to leave to . . . take care of something." The young mutant scratched the back of her head. "So, I wasn't here long enough to get to know the area. And I can have a really back sense fo direton" She laughed nervouslyh at her own foolishness.

"Its alright. I suppose I've just developed a good sense of direction because half of the time people couldn't hear me when I asked for directions anyways," Shandra admitted sheepishly, "Sorry...I didn't mean to insult you..."

Bored out of her mind she turned off the gaming system and television and left her cozy room. Looking down the hall her ears perked as she semi listened to the conversations that floated up the stairs from the floor below. Nothing of interest she walked down the hall and turned the corner. She knew there were rooms down here but didn't know if they belonged to anyone. Stopping at one door she wrapped her knuckles against the wood and when she got no response she twisted the handle and cracked open the door. Instantly her nose scrunched up and she covered it with her hand. "Good lord someone doesn't know how to clean up after themselves." But curiousity overcame her as she peered inside the dark room. Lucky for her instead of the pitch black that it was it looked like a dimly lit room. Making sure no one was watching her she slipped into the room and closed the door behind her, she was one nosey kitty.

Owen noticed suddenly that he could no longer hear the voices. Never could he remember a time when the silence felt so thick and oppressing. It bothered him a little that after going for so long without longing for human contact that he would be so needy for it now. Maybe his encounter during the incident when the mall was attacked had dome something strange to him. Maybe deep down, he was sick of having companions that died every month or so, that many new friendships to create that likewise lasted only so long. Whatever it was, it pulled him toward what lay beyond the gate; he found that he simply had to find a way inside and look around before he would be at peace. He tilted his head and looked up at the tall gates stretching their steely fingers to the sky. Not much he could do there. BUt he eyed the stone wall extending out in either direction, and he wondered, with his experience in climbing old broken walls, if he could find a way up the imposing wall and over to the other side. Trying to look as inconspicuous as he could to the few passersby, he reached out to the wall and began feeling about for possible hand and footholds.

Blade shook her head with a smile. "No, I'm not insulted." She laughed and looked around once more. From what she vaguely remembered, the kitchen was . . . . somewhere. To illustrate her desire for food, Blade's stomach growled. "Um . . ." She blushed slightly at this.

"If you're lucky some of the breakfast I cook might still be in there," Shandra advised. "I don't think Xavier would mind if you ate before greeting him..."
She started to walk a little and then looked back with her head over her shoulder, "You do know where the kitchen it...right?"

As she looked around the dark room her ears were constantly twitching, listening to see if anyone was coming down the hallway. Not only had the scent overpowered her when she first opened the door but it was familiar in a way and she couldn't quite place it. From what she could see, though her vision good in the lack of light she couldn't make out everything, she noticed that whomevers room this was lacked pictures of themselves or any family they may have, if any. A noise in the room made her jump in surprise as a mouse peaked out from under the bed at her. She hissed and it scurried away. I best get out of here.. Kara thought and made a hasty exit out of the room, closing the door softly behind her as she hurried down the hall and back to her own room.

Blade laughed nervously. "Well, you see . . . . I can't remember." Once more, her stomach growled and Blade could swear that the tips of her ears were red.
