UNBAN THE INNOCENT

I keep reminding people of the forms because, quite frankly, the crap that is going on does not belong in TF. If you want to carry it out here, great, I wish you the best of luck assuming Mr. Snuggle was legit*... However, 4+ posts on "OMG X, Y, Z and even AA were banned!!" is not going to bring about anything positive in the fishing forum, especially the way it's presented sometimes. Just yelling about it is spam in the Fishing Forum, and it's my duty as the main active forum moderator there (And as staff of TF besides) to make sure things stay civil to the best of my abilities.

I'm sorry you don't like my methods, but even as an Omni Moderator, I have rules and procedures to follow. Admins have procedures and rules to follow. In order to take care of things in the most fair** way, the form is how it has to be done. Storming various places will not accomplish anything.

I once thought about storming around too. Ever read the Fishy Love thread? I went back and read the first 50 pages or so yesterday for some unknown reason, and was almost amused at how much I've changed, matured, grown up in the way I handle things since then. Then I wanted to rally people and storm Q&A with threads asking why fishing wasn't working, why the stats page was dead. The goal would have been to get one out of every three or four threads to be about fishing, to make it a clear issue. But I never initiated that rally, despite people openly declaring support of it. Why? Because when I made myself sit back and look at it, I realized it was the wrong way to go about things. I muttered a bit more, but I changed my approach, and things got done. In the end, I say "form" 50 trillion times until you want to stab me if I say it one more time because it's the right way to go, and it's the most effective method available.

Again, apologies for not having more options, that's not my doing. Also again, I hope all unfairly banned people will be unbanned.

*Read this part before you jump me, not that it matters either way: I'm not the one to determine this. Assuming he's legit, I hope he gets his account back. Do note that I'm not stating that he isn't legit by any means.

**Note that I'm not saying all bans are fair. The vast majority of them are, but I've helped get unfair bans overturned in the past, in fishing no less. I know they happen. However, nothing is perfect, so Gaia does what it can to fix it in the most fair way that they can.

Hi Gaidin, welcome to my guild. I'm actually surprised to see you in here, not sure why though... lol

I think I understand both sides of this issue. The biggest frustration that we have with Gaia and the administration is that we fill out the form, but noone ever gets back to us. So what do we do? Since we feel ignored, we storm about complaining to other Gaians and plot to build our own website. I don't know if Gaia needs more admins so they can get back to those people that "fill out the form" more effectively. Maybe they need less because they keep stepping on each other's toes, I don't know, I'm not an admin, nor do I work at Gaia. What needs to be done more than anything is the banning system needs to be looked at to see if it really is the most efficient way to get things accomplished. It seems to us that there is no human element in the banning process, if your accused (guilty or not) you get banned. It seems like a Gaia has a "guilty until proven innocent" policy. I understand that there are millions of accounts on here, I think Snuggles new account was around #10 million. So I do understand that putting the human element back into the banning process can be a daunting task, but it should be looked into.

Thanks,

10 million? I wonder how many of those 10 million are banned accounts. Or accounts that haven't been used in years. For example: Search "Bob" in the Community. Click on the first "Bob". This person joined on 04/23/2003 and they're last log on was... you guessed it 04/23/2003. Why are these accounts still there? If they haven't been used in a year, Gaia should send an e-mail warning that if they're not signed on in the next month their account will be deleted. I wonder how many users there'd be if they cleaned it up. Nowhere near that many, I guarantee it. *grumbles*

I think the biggest reason for people complaining about how others get banned, is that we don't really understand the rules that can cause bans. I'm talking in particular about this thing where you can get banned if you have, from trade or donations, items or gold obtained through botting or the so called botting tree.

I've never seen a mod actually say, or deny, that this thing is happening, where innocent users are being banned. But i've heard many users telling that that's what happened to their old accounts.

So what we have here is a fear that users can be banned for doing nothing wrong at all. I think feelings are hottest among the fishing community, since it seems most bannings happen there, or at least those bannings are most noticed.

I think, in order to calm the community down, the mods need to state whether or not you can get banned for having an item, that someone else, unbeknownst to you, put botted gold into.

Sorry for going OT here

yeah they don't even tell you why you were accused of botting liz and all the mods say is "fill out the form".i think anyone with 1/2 a brain would realize the number 8 fisher in bassken with a score that wasn't very impressive was NOT botting or he would've shot up to number 1 in a day or 2 instead of fishing like crazy just to keep his spot all month rolleyes

hello all

Well:

Botting is alive and well in Gaia..number one.

But because no one has taken the time to define the actual action that triggers botting there is going to be some definite bannings of unaware member by the current system used by Gaia and other games sites...
evidently these interactive games with ledger scores(leaderboards) have primarily the same protocol rules/regulations about what constitutes a ban while gaming..

I try to tell folks that one of the most innocent of the botting ban is that
to paste information in the game room chats is bottingand will get the member banned forever ..

this may also means it may not be done in the towns either(or the theatres) but we won't know unless someone who have the time to sit down and create enough Ids and try out all of them ( to see if they get banned for doing it) and then list it as a known banning ; for example

Noje4Jobe told me that she used the copy/paste in fishing *and she didn't exceed known amt of letters allow in a text entry* (which is allowed by comp/program standards, but IS NOT ALLOW IN GAIA, OR YAHOO, MSN GAMES)
why?
we don't know other than that moderators in leagues at yahoo says that it is interpreted as "spamming" in that a lot of the folks who put up those cute little text graphics use this method to insert the text graphic as a whole picture...
but also spammers use it to send out repetitive ads ..and that this is spamming (which can be understood )

In fishing when a person types the "COLOR CODE" for texting and if the code is entered incorrectly, a system message appears and tells the person to go to "Truantducks" page for instuctions...

on this page it states in inuendo that copy/paste is okay...

I think that this(copy/paste by back/clicking method) should be addressed as well as the rumored option to

be able to play more than one game room at a time in fishing.
..

on some sites, multiplaying the same game type is okay..however the system won't allow the same id to log in the same game server at the same time..i.e..can play in fishing in gambino and durem but not in durem's "grunny and durem's demonic at the same time..or so I have been told by some fishers...

but as above; I think these are things that are of concern with the moderators and developers and owners of gaia since the only thing that members can do is put up with the Vagueness of the description of "what constitutes botting and banning"...

He'll always be my

I remember once there was an announcement,
or some kind of thread of that matter,
addressing the topic of botted gold.
I'm not sue if I'd be able to find it again,
but if I remember correctly, it said that
a member can be banned for buying items
that were previously bought with botted gold.
This is definately a stupid reason to be banned.

I'm a bit confused on how fishing alot can be thought of as botting.
You need to actually play the game to get fish,
and as far as I know you can't get a bot to do that for you.

I support bringing back wrongfully banned members.
These are the people that loved Gaia, kept it alive.
Now they're banned, they've lost all the items
that they worked so hard to get,
and they're mad, ticked at Gaia for letting this happen.
In my opinion, Gaia is lucky these members want to come back
and they should gladly let them back on their old accounts.
