Tetravus Make sure that your first session is at least 3-5 days before ovulation. This helps get rid of the sperm that your body has produced that is almost at their "useful shelf life." The reason why you want to do it so far before ovulation is that there are several different varieties of sperm (this is from TLC). Most of the varieties are "guardian sperm" which help prevent the natural passage of sperm that come along later. This is usually done by just swimming in circles or something like that. So if you get rid of your used up sperm early and let them die you can use your fresh ones when it counts without them being "guarded" against. If you can, try to switch to boxers. Some guys (and I'm included) think that they are uncomfortable. But consider this. Briefs keep the testes closer to the body and therefore keep the sperm at a higher temperature. The average increase in temperature is 2 degrees C. This is enough to shorten the "useful shelf life" of your sperm.
well first of all i didn't know about how there's different sperm. and as far as the cooling off certain areas is definately not a problem for my fiance because he goes commando *playful sarcasm*. And I feel a little embarrassed for totally not knowing what this is but what's the "Missionary Position"? Is it basically female on bottom male on top? And as for me and my fiance we won't be trying for a while. I got pregnant before, when I was 15, but had a miscarriage during the 4th month. I don't know what week because I didn't really count in weeks then. I figured it was stress since the father had forced himself upon me so i definately wasn't ready for a baby let alone the actual sex itself.
One of my friends was trying to conceive a while ago. I'm not going to repeat the advice though because it's already been said many times...eat right, certain positions, pillow for 20 minutes or so....oh heh sweatdrop i guess i did say it. Oh well. But there's a lot of good advice in here. I'll have to come read this again when we're planning on conceiving.

Bleh, so I'm running into a minor problem. Since I've been off of the pill for a few months now, I'm ALL thrown off. Before I was on the pill, I had a fairly regular cycle, although it was more like a 21 day cycle versus the normal 28 one.
So, my problem is now it's LONGER than 28 days. I'm sure stress and everything does help, but it's been like 30+days before I get my period. It's been easy to notice the signs of ovulation but I wonder if anyone else ran into this problem? I did tell my GYN this at my yearly not that long ago, but she just told me to make sure to write down when I start and everything, which I do.
She also gave me some prenatals. When should I start taking these? My husband doesn't get back for a few weeks, would a week or two be a good time to start and get it in my system?

I think it's usually recommended you start prenatals a good 2 months before you intend to get pregnant if you know you're going to try; so starting now would be good. They also recommend limiting alcohol and caffeine intake at that same time.
My cycle got a bit wonky after the first few months as well, but it finally straightened itself out and reset where it wanted to be rather then where it had been told to be for a good 8 years or better.

Thanks Dirge. For the most part I don't think I ever really drink caffine (habit picked up from being preggo with Logan) except here and there. I don't drink, but I'm not going to lie I plan to when Tommy gets back, lol.
I'm going ahead and start taking them, I just need to remember. It was easy enough to forget that I have to take a pill for birth control. It's just bugging me about my cycle, cause it's getting longer and longer. Now I'm over 30 days for my period. I hadn't planned on going back on the pill once/if I get pregnant, but it looks like it's one of those things that worked out better for me than I realized.
