::Medixia takes a seat. For now, she wants to recover some lost reiastu before continuing. She looks around the library to see what the others are doing and gauge how far some might have come. She glances Haruko and Hikari. She finds it almost strange to see the little girl so quiet and calm. She almost shakes her head. Then she looks at Shunketsu. Somehow, those three found each other quite easily. They certainly make an interesting crowd. She looks at some of the others. One has already exhausted all his energy. Perhaps he didn't think of taking a rest...::

::With a loud sigh, Medixia gets up when she feels her reiatsu is sufficiently recovered. At least she feels like she's back near one-hundred percent. As she takes a few steps forward, she's already begun scanning the book shelves. She's not satisfied with just learning chiyu. She wants to learn exactly how they work. Her idea is to become most proficient with these, maybe even develop a few of her own. When she comes to a rather thick book with a promising title and a symbol she's never seen before, she picks it up and turns to the preface.::
Hmm...?
::With a questioning sigh, she turns around, tucks a foot underneath her and 'trips' herself into a seated position, back against the bookcase. It might not have looked like the most elegant thing to do, but she's quite efficient at quickly seating herself. She does practice a lot while out and about rooting for whatever necessary to make medicines. Unlike the others, she has a much more 'vital role' interest in chiyu. As she turns the pages, she learns what the symbol stands for. It's a symbol that has come to be known as the universal symbol of medicine. She guesses it came after the time of witch doctors, shamans, and other such healers. With a smile, she wonders if maybe the Kusinagi name isn't so famous anymore.::
::Ignoring that thought, she continues to read. What she notices about chiyu is not only how different they are from hadou but how much more effective they are with a deep understanding of reiatsu. She rubs her head. She doesn't have much of a sense for reiatsu, as it's described in the book, right now. She's hoping that's something she'll develop. With a sigh, she continues. The first chiyu, of course, is rather simple. Absentmindedly, she speaks aloud.::
...converts reiatsu to chi? I wonder if that weakens the overall effect?

::After reading a little further, she decides that Ichiban a Chiyu is probably weakened slightly by converting reiatsu to chi. It's nothing major, considering it's such a low-level technique, but she'll still have to remember that. She's glad to see so many pages dedicated to the proper application of the technique. With chi so different from reiatsu, this information is absolutely vital. She goes over the various 'entry points' she could use. They aren't so different from what she knows. Even with different backgrounds, her medicine and chiyu aren't all that different. Well, one uses that which is found in nature while the other uses the energy all beings contain. She smiles.::
...and I thought this was going to be hard...
::With a breath, she continues reading through the pages as she flips through them one-by-one. She can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. It's not so different from learning to root around and combine herbs and other pieces of nature. She does note some interesting points. While the early chiyu are almost purely based around the caster's reiatsu, the book makes mention of how the target's reiatsu can eventually be 'used' to ensure even greater healing possiblities in higher level chiyu. Her eyes go wide at the thought, but that's something to explore much, much later. As for now, she shakes her head and continues with the basics of Ichiban a Chiyu.::

::Medixia ends up nodding her head a lot. As she reads the text, it covers the proper placement of the hands on the target and how to gather the reiatsu necessary. The whole conversion thing doesn't make a lot of sense right now, but she's sure it will later on. She turns several pages just reading on proper use. She likes that it's going over all this before the chant, but she thought she would have read that by now. With a shake of her head and a sigh, she ignores that. She, instead, concentrates on letting her reiatsu flow, much more serenely, to her open palms. Unlike Ranboukaze, there is no need to gather outside elements. This felt a lot more natural.::

::Turning one more page, Medixia almost gasps when she sees the chant. Her eyes definitely go wide. The chant is long. At least she thinks it is for such a low level chiyu, let alone kidou. Ranboukaze didn't even have a full chant, just its number and name... She quickly grasps her right bun in same hand and rubs it against her head.::
Gah...
::She can feel the breath escape her mouth and almost hiss, but she knows she can and will get through this. It's just a...stumbling block. She begins reading it, slowly and to herself at first. I guess the idea of whales makes sense for this. She pauses in her reading. With a sigh, she goes back and rereads the entire chant. Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise. Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu. She rolls her eyes at how that sounds, repeating same or similar words so readily and quickly together. With a quick breath, she closes her eyes and leans her head back, trying to imagine the words in her head.::

::When she can't remember the words, Medixia scrunches her face. This is going to be a long day at this rate... With a sigh, she opens her eyes and refocuses on the page with the chant. She knows she has to get this down or there's no way she can say she learned it. Proving she did might be another thing... She's rather not prove the point; though, she was willing to joke about it. Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise. Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu. After reading it, she licks her lips. Then she reads it again. She wants to be able to recite the words no matter the situation. That would mean taking them to heart and knowing they can flow no matter what. She knows that could be a lot harder than one might think... She focuses, on those words and those words only.::

The fluttering black wings carried the hell butterfly to rest on her shoulder, her eyes fixing on it, and then narrowing. With a frown, she nodded, and then slid forward, off the desk. Reaching up she slid her hot pink haori off her shoulders, revealing the sleeveless white haori, her real one, underneath.
As she turned to the students, she folded the extra haori over her arm, and gave another whistle, to get their attention, this time, her voice raising.
"This is an alert. All students are to gather in the courtyard outside. We have news of intruders on the edge of Soul Society, headed for Seireitei. I apologize that we're going to have to cut your lessons short, but we have no choice. Everyone can make up classes after this is all over with, for now, you need to report outside, and get your squad designations."
Fingers ran through spiky hair, and she turned her head, glancing out a window of the library, before she turned, heading out of the room. The other students would have to follow at their own pace.
Damn, just when things were getting peaceful, too.

Soon, after a short lived nap, Rei awakened just in time to here the announcement, which is actually what brought him to life. He scrambled to his feet, he had regained a good chunk of himself. Suddenly, before Rei could reach for his Zanpaktou, it simply materialized into his grip, which startled him.
"A FIGHT! FINALLY! Go Rei...I want to see some blood..."
Rei scrambled again going for the doorway, leaping and bounding off of chairs and tables on the way out so he could make a bee-line for the exit.

::Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the words of the wise. Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu. With a nod of her head, Medixia is satisfied that she's memorized the words and proper use. Now all she has to do is practice gathering the reiatsu properly. Her eyes go wide, however, as she hears a shrill whistle. She looks up to see the taichou delivering a message. She quickly grasps a hair bun and rubs it against her head.::
Gah...
::She's less interested in just joining a fight and more interested in finishing learning this chiyu. Orders, however, are orders. She's a fair bit certain she's not even ready for this fight. She places her palm dead center the bindings of the book with her thumb on the back cover and rest of her fingers on the front. I can always practice gathering reiatsu while awaiting orders. The book closes with a thud as she stands and pats the dust off her rear. As the taichou leaves the library in a hurry and a student rushes shortly after...::
Hai. Hai! Such busy bees we are.
::She rubs the ring of her zanpakutou as she makes her own way out the library. She's not sure where they're supposed to go, exactly, so she makes her way to the front of the Academy. She's also going to take her time, not caring if anybody passes her by on their way out.::

Hikari sighs. She knows one thing. When a taichou says to get moving; you get moving. She hops up, satisfied that she has Ranboukaze, Sai, and Ichiban a Chiyu learned. The latter two she can master in the field if necessary. The former is more important to have learned. With a quick tug on Haruko... "Let's go, Poku-chan!" She quickly skips ahead, leaving her to catch up, before waving at Shunketsu. "It's time to go, Hentai-san!" ...and she disappears out the library door. She rushes, much like a child would, down the hallways of the Academy. She's not necessarily in a hurry. She just has energy to burn.

Haruko had spent the entire time Hikari was reading trying to break out of her spell. She had been caught completely off guard by it, and was easily bound. She had finally managed to break it, most likely due to the damper continually weakening it over time. Haruko rubs her arm for a minute, and then Hikari goes off down the hallway after the teacher's anouncement. Haruko sighs and gets up, rubbing her wrists gently before taking off down the hallway after Hikari.

As Masaru stood near the teacher, he watched the black butterfly slowly drift and land on her shoulder. He was intrigued by it, and also about how the teacher seemed to be listening to it. As he came to the conclusion that it must be some form of shinigami communication, he was taken back abit as she slid off of the desk and removed her pink haori. He listened carefully to her message, since it was hard not to, and acknowledged by standing at attention.
"Yes ma'am."
He proceeded after her out the door with the other students, holding his zanpakuto to his hip with his left hand as to keep it from falling out of his obi. He hadn't been in the academy long, and he was already going to become a shinigami. But he feared his lack of knowledge and training would be the death of him in this situation that Seireitei was in. If the Gotei 13 is delving into academy students for soldiers, then there must be something big, and he didn't know what. He had a bad feeling he'd find out sooner than later.

Once the majority of students arrived, the man with the long white beard stepped forward, hands resting on his cane, as the other taichou gathered around him, just slightly behind.
"We regret pulling you all from your studies. While we know some of you are prepared for the coming fight, many of you have yet to gain the level of strength that will help you survive unaided," his voice was stern, and carried over the students, yet he never actually raised his voice.
"The captains will guide you all as best they can. If you want to be in a specific division, I suggest you speak up now. All students will break from their divisions again, after the fighting is over. We'll do our best to protect you all," he turned, and the other taichou gazed out across the student body, arms crossing and a rippling murmur.
The only taichou not self-supporting was the frail woman with the white hair, who leaned on her staff, as always. It seemed as though the peace during studies had been a fleeting dream, and people were being forced into action.

::Medixia listens to the seemingly old man's speech. She only has one thing to do and say. She grasps her right hair bun in the same hand and rubs it against her head as...::
Gah...
::This is not what she wanted to hear. She's not only one of the weakest students they have available. He's not even confident the taichou can protect any given one of them. With no real hesitation, she raises the hand that was grasping her bun and speaks up.::
If you don't terribly mind, I think I'll be best with medicine and support. I can't use any chiyu, but I can make one mean herbal remedy.
::Actually, she can make quite a few. She has a satchel full of the various remedies she's concocted. She even has a few concoctions she can rub onto her zanpakutou edge in order to paralyze or intoxicate an enemy, or just some random target to treat them.::

Banriyu had arrived at the academy a while ago but was silent. But now with the current if formation he was ready for almost anything. However he probably wouldn't be much use as a fighter. His fighting skill weren't very developed but he was one of the fastest out of all the students. As he thought of all this and idea had occurred to him. He could act as a scout or a messenger. "I would be best suited to be placed in Division 3, Sir!." Banriyu shouted with delight.
