It's better to Read Arc, The Shishio Arc is good but they cut out the Jinchu Arc (involving Kenshin's first wife, and the reason he became a hitokiri) And replace it with a series of OVAs while excluding Sanosuke and Yahiko.
Kenshin Manga> Anime.
Kenshin is sexy >.>

In most cases, the Manga is always better than the Anime.
Best example in case, Tenjo Tenge...The anime stops even before they cover the damn tournament that they've been training for -_-
But the manga has continued on for a while now.

Another good case would be InuYasha (before the release of the finale series "The Final Act") where they end the series before Killing Naraku OR completing the Jewel they spent Hundreds of episodes trying to complete.
