Hitomi caught Kon~kou at the talons, and the eagle lost control of her flight. Kon managed to tuck her wings in and turn her body lengthwise to prevent any broken bones, but she still rolled across the ground for a good ten feet. Damn. When did she get that fast? It had to be luck... She just fought the other day and was too slow to even think of that... It was too fluid to have been planned by Hitomi... I've got to get her back for that...

Kon opened her wings and pushed herself back into the air, climbing into the skies. She would probably be better with another rush to Hitomi's blind side, but that's what would be expected... Fine. Let's give her something that she can't luck out on. Kon turned on a dime and charged at Hitomi's front. Hopefully this would give her the edge she needed. If not, then this battle wouldn't last very much longer...

Hitomi smiled and rolled forward. She'd expected Kon to go for the unexpected. Kon needed to be able to figure out what kind of mood she was in. They'd work on that, too... Now, however, Hitomi planted her hands and pushed herself up, trying to handspring into Kon's chest as she passed overhead. "Bad luck this time, friend." Hitomi could only concentrate on the timing and hope she got a blind attack right.

Hitomi felt herself connect, but it wasn't a solid hit. It was weak, and Hitomi was stuck in a dangerous position. Hopefully Kon~kou wouldn't be quick enough to react. Damn. This could be really bad.... Hitomi couldn't believe she'd not hit good enough... I need more practice. Maybe Gig'll be a doll and whip me up some more friends...

Kon saw her opening. Hitomi was still suspended and Kon's talons were just coming by her feet. NOW! Kon opened her talons and grabbed at Hitomi's ankles. She was hoping to send Hitomi spinning, and to let torque do the rest of the work for her. If she doesn't pull off another miraculous save... Let's hope I can get to her before she learns to fly...

Kon nailed it. Hitomi was gripped around her ankle by the bird, and her twisted ankle throbbed under the renewed onslaught. Damn... I've got to learn to teleport... Kon can nail these things like no one else... She didn't have more than half a second to respond... But she got me without even trying. She's grown a lot more than I have, it would seem...

Hitomi tried to make the best out of her predicament. She tried batting at Kon while she spun, hoping to take her out before she gained too much altitude. I've got this perfect... I've just got to hit her one more time. It doesn't seem like she's going to be in the air much longer. Of course, that means I have to hit her... Hitomi hoped it wouldn't be that much of a problem. Kon had seemed somewhat off her game today.... I wonder what's on her mind? She can generally put it aside enough to retain somewhere near optimum efficiency... It must be something either really important or really bad

Hitomi missed. Kon spun at the last second to avoid her hand. Kon doubled back and dived for Hitomi again. Let's see her get out of the way of this one. She still doesn't look like she realized she's missed yet. Kon was aiming for Hitomi's right shoulder. If there was any part of her body that was the worst for her blind spot, it would have to be that shoulder. It was almost impossible for her to see it without help. And even then, it took too much work to do effectively... She's going to have to dodge blind.

Kon drilled Hitomi in her blind spot, feeling the rest of Hitomi's body jerk around to follow the shoulder. That's the end of it. Kon circled around and landed beside Hitomi, watching her. I hope I didn't hit her too hard. It would be a shame if she died before she even found out the truth... Kon let out a soft coo, tilting her head to look at Hitomi. She hopped closer, leaning in to look at her more closely.

Hitomi opened her eyes "BOO!" Hitomi winced and pushed herself sitting up. "Looks like you win again... Damn... If you'd hit any harder, you'd have tore my arm off..." She reached up and pet Kon's head. "maybe we should switch places and you can be the shinobi. You know what? What do you think of that, Kon? If you might be able to become an Iwagakure ninja? I'll talk to Keiko-sama about any precedent we may have... Couldn't you imagine that? You would be an official shinobi. You would probably make it farther than I would... you already have, haven't you? That's why you were working that hard..."

Kon jumped and flew back, startled. You jerk. Kon gave what amounted to a chuckle. She hopped back in beside Hitomi. Well, you hit it on the head. Kon gave a nod. I just wonder how it's going to turn out... I think Giglamesh is going to be hard as hell to convince... he doesn't like birds anyway... we'll just have to show him, won't we? Show him that I'm not just an overgrown pigeon... Kon sighed and relaxed. Hitomi had gotten in a few good hits. If she'd gotten Kon one more time, she'd have been done for. It's a good thing I can always pull something out of my hat, isn't it?

Hitomi winced and stood up. "Well. I'll burn one more time and then we'll head back to the village, ok?" Hitomi focused on expelling her chakra. Doing it while she was in pain was a necessary skill. She couldn't avoid getting hurt forever. She focused all of her chakra to her feet again, hoping to test the results once more. She formed the snake seal and concentrated. If she could figure out the numbers, she had some applications for this... If she ever got good enough at it, she'd be able to work it into what she wanted.

Hitomi felt a slight jolt, but nothing much. I didn't get all of it. Let's try to get the rest out. I don't have enough chakra to seriously manage anything, so let's just clean the system. Hitomi let her chakra loose, letting it wander. She focused on releasing it once again. This time, let's just try to get it right... She formed the snake seal once again and tried to push the last bit she had out. She hoped she didn't force too much chakra out. She didn't have what she usually did...
