@techpriest35: Quote: The Game Master is the overseer of the Spinners End subforum. He/She helps keep the games updated, accept submissions for new games, and notify Heads when needed. This person is allowed use of the Game Master 2626 mule for purposes in Spinners End only. The current Game Master is no one. This position is open! I really want to get the Event Calendar thread back up on its feet. We should make a new thread, similar to original one in the Care-Taker subforum, but I also want it to double as an Event planner with information on HPGoG's upcoming events and an application for non-mod members to volunteer-host events. I think this thread would also be an excellent location for members to Pick their Prize for certain events. What say ye guild members? Interested?

Do you mean like a calendar/list of when the different events are scheduled to begin? I think it would be good to have a place to list the upcoming events and what games/competitions, etc there will be. And for people to volunteer to host them.
My first thought was that I agree it would be a good place for the picking prizes thing, but now I don't think I agree. How would it actually work? You couldn't use the poll because there might be more than one event that a prize needs to be picked for. Maybe just have a list of the competitions and their possible prizes and then have people post which one they vote for for each? But that would mean a lot of posts to go through. I think maybe this would just be better in each individual competition thread (as the poll), like what was done for this current event.

I meant more like a long term planning sort of thing, where people can suggest ideas for prizes to go along with specific events. It'd be a different way of prize picking that wouldn't work for every contest, but still a good thing to throw out there for general themed events. That way contest holders wouldn't have to scramble every single time to figure out a prize if there's no pick-your-prize option available.

If we're going to make an Event Calendar thread (for events) we should put it in the Event subforum.... but then there's already the Event Information Announcement which is used for feedback on events and stuff. Couldn't we incorporate your ideas into that?
If it's for the entire calendar, that doesn't make sense to me. The calendar has always been made by the Heads.

You're not fully understanding my meaning behind this. Where does the calendar go when it's finished? The EH. That's like... the only place people can ever see all these important dates all in one fell swoop. And not everyone remembers that they can find these important dates there, especially since it's so far down the list of posts.
Plus I've only seen like 3 people post feedback in the Event announcement, almost all of which are mods or some kind of other guild authority, and when events aren't going on in that subforum, its almost like the whole place goes dead because people don't really need to go in there since nothing big is happening.
I realize organizing certain things into their proper subforums is important, but I think we need to start thinking more about getting important stuff like this all assembled into an obvious location if we want guild members to help out more. Not everyone's going to scour the entire guild for this info o_o'

You're right I got a completely different idea about what you said before.
If you're saying we need another place to discuss the Calendar: I agree. I also think the best place for that would be the Event subforum. We don't have to create a new thread entirely, we can tweak the EI thread we already have to merge the two ideas together so-to-speak.

There are a lot of active members, but there are still a lot of student positions open gonk ...it would be a shame if we have to ask people to fill a role rather than they volunteer!!
[[Juni remember what we discussed in the Chamber about a Keeper of the Lists? Are we PMing her about that or what?]]

Yes, but it says Restless is still the Keeper in the EH doesn't it? So I thought she was still it.

Would someone be able to point me in the direction of a list of the student positions that are open? Unless it's in the EH, which it sounds like it is. I'll go look there.

It's in the Entrance Hall, and we can assume she still is. I'll add contacting Restless (along with MLT) to my To-Do list.

I think it would be better to PM her (politely) asking about it.

If I had to guess, the Game Master position is still open. I wanted to do it. I like Spinners' End and the games are fun, so I wanted that position.
