LAS CHICAS DE EL UFG:
What's an article of clothing that you're always trying to acquire,
but nobody seems to be able to get right (details, color, etc.)?

Eeee. For me, that's just about everything. :/

But for your sake - [aye captain, rant ahead] -

I'm hell-bent on finding the perfect shoes. I want shoes that are cute and simple, quirky but not over-the-top, and sit on the line between casual and sophisticated. The things that are cute/unique always seem to come in colors that are too flashy - the things in the perfect softer colors that I like are always too old-looking.

I've spent ages looking for the perfect pair of flats. The details were always off - too punk-ish or colorful, too patterned, too plain, too many ribbons, and dear god I hate rhinestones/jewels on shoes. Basically, they either looked too young and "teenaged" for me, or too "old"... It just felt like there was nothing in the "shyeah I'm done with school but I'm not a working woman yet!" category.

In case you need a metaphorical paper on this, I'd say it's a reflection of the stage of life I'm at - "emerging adulthood" - where I'm sort of growing up and learning to become my own young woman, but I'm still a little girl inside.

...Of course, my problems would probably be remedied if I'd look at better, more expensive clothes. xd

Choose something else?

BTW, have you checked out www.zappos.com?
They're kind of great for shoes.

Damn it, I spent half an hour typing that. x0

Dresses - because the patterns suck, or they're sewn badly, or unflattering. I'm a dress fan but things rarely work out. I like flowy summer dresses, the "flowy" part is where a lot of dresses make me look like I have a huge a**... or a baby.

I also wish size "smedium" t-shirts existed. I don't like things that cling to my body.

I'll see if I can come up with something.

I hear you on the flowy dress.
Being short-wasited really has some major disadvantages,
especially lately with empire waists,
that fall at my waist rather than below my bust.
And I also can't do the waist belt thing.

Ai Vi, you might want to try looking at Anthropologie,
if you ever feel the need to splurge/get ideas for the post-teenage stage.
Sometimes they're a bit too whimsical,
but they can really nail the wearable-avant-garde/playful thing.
At least for me they do.

Waah. Thank you!
I wish I could carry a clone of you around every time I go shopping. Though I see what you mean by "splurging"... :0

Eh, what are you working on, exactly?

Ah, I see. Best of luck! heart

I can see how me screaming "I HATE DRESSES" isn't going to be too helpful now. xD

I don't really know enough about the making of clothes to understand exactly what I don't like about something, other than "it's ugly" or "it makes me look fat."

I do feel picky in that way a lot with music, where I sooo badly want to tweak this or that detail in a song to make it more enjoyable for me. I'll critique the hell out of songs that I think are ALMOST perfect, and describe exactly how things should change. I'm sure it drives Ryan crazy too, but he's an appreciator and he gets me. Or pretends to, because he loves me and knows better than to disagree and feed the flames of my rage!

Well that was dumb, invite an English Major to become an English Major. I'm sure there was some point to that. Maybe some people forget and need constant reminders that they are indeed majoring in English.

Urby is going to fashion school? That makes sense. Do we all get discounts when you're a big-name designer? biggrin

Most of my complaints with clothes are how they fit. Why the hell do they size everything according to stick figure models? I'd like a pair of jeans that actually cover my a** when I have to bend over. But since they make them for people without asses... It doesn't seem right to pay $300 for a pair of jeans just because I have a real woman's body.

You know. The cut of Lane Bryant's jeans are really nice. Especially since they updated their sizing system to the red, blue, yellow gimmick. But I'm really not quite big enough to be shopping there. I mean, it's nice that a store makes fashionable things for plus-size gals, but I really wish that they at least made their jeans in smaller sizes. I may not technically be a plus-size, but I have all of the curves.

Oh, and comfort. A lot of pretty things just aren't comfortable. I don't want to be miserable all day just so I can look good.

Boots! Don't get me started on boots. WHY can't they make any boots with nice little details for women WITHOUT a three inch heel? I'm short, so I should wear heels. And I don't have that much trouble walking in them. But I have a really bad back, which means heels are out. TOTALLY. If I weren't so small, I'd just buy men's boots. I DO have a wide foot. But I think it would be hard to find shoes in my size. I haven't seen one of those foot measures forever, so I don't know what my exact size is. I wear 8's so they fit me width-wise. But I'm probably a 6 or 7... I don't imagine they sell many men's shoes in 5's and 6's.

Dammit. I want some boots with a buckle heel detail and a slight platform. Not a fricking stiletto.

This best include free pants. Also, you will all get nothing once I'm a big name webcomic. NOTHING! Mainly because I will have nothing to give you other than the satisfaction of knowing that I command an army of Internets that I could get you to mow your lawn for you.

I just wish Lane Bryant wasn't so expensive, as I can't afford their clothes on a minimum wage paycheck. Like Pyre said, their red/blue/yellow jeans are amazing. x3

Huh, I'm actually enjoying this job. Maybe it's because I'm not there for 5+ hours at a time... I could definitely go with 2-4 hours a day, every day,

A Fatal Fairytale
