The alien's name is Klaatu, dammnit - and that whole remake sucked period.
Mr. Reeves is not the worst actor of all time: I think the real issue here is someone wanting to make a live action Cowboy Bebop movie.

xDA Harvey Dentx Chris Powell stare You know what must be done... If killing him is distasteful perhaps a good maiming is in order. Oh please, Spike in the begining was pretty neutral in feeling and emotionless, if he goes a little Neo mixed with Johnny on him he'll do alright. I'm more caring who they get Jet for. Need to really hit that connection between them. Are you saying there was a difference in how he played the two characters of Neo and Johnny? confused

Not surprising since both movies were based on stories by the same author, stories which took place involving the same characters and the same continuity. Except the Matrix was more of "inspired by/skeletal theft" than actually "based on." Regardless of that, how do you propose mixing "actually confused" with "pretending to be confused?" I don't know whom I'd have picked, but I'd know who I wouldn't. I wouldn't pick the Plastic-faced Openmouthed Stunned Guy.

I just don't care anymore. It's like DB:E or that new Street fighter movie. If I go to see it I'm gonna get kicked out of the theater for laughing too much. It's gonna be a train wreck.

I see this the same way I see most Live Action Treatments. I've had my Cowboy Bebop movie. It was animated, I saw it in theatres and it was great. This...well this is like Schumacher's Batman. You always get something stapled on somewhere, something they try to keep a property alive with. It probaby won't be good, but it deffinately can't be helped.
So I'm just going to turn up Future Blues and do what I usually do with the modern American film market: ignore it.

But again, thrown out laughing. Now, who wants to talk about Deadpool in the Wolverine movie?! Cuz I've seen him... and yeah it's just what I knew it would be...

Apparently, Deadpool is Baraka. How can he be the Merc with the Mouth if he has no mouth? I don't care much, actually. I think it's a great character, but I'm not a rabid fanboy, and I've seen Hollywood screw up too many of my favorite characters to be surprised.
Which is actually a nice segue into Keanu Reeves, since he completely raped the character of John Constantine, though I don't think we can entirely blame him for that. I always liked to think that since Neo was essentially drained of emotion by the "real world" that Keanu played him well. I watched the Matrix recently, though, and found my analysis based on a vague recollection of the movie to be way off. He tried to inject emotion into the character, but fell completely flat, leaving us with hilariously bad delivery on already bad lines like "Whoa." and "I know kung-fu." The Matrix is brilliant in concept, and that almost makes it a good movie, but it's execution was poor. You want to make a Bill and Ted movie? Cast Keanu Reeves. You want to make anything else? Don't.
On that note, though, I recently heard an interview with Alice Cooper, who apparently babysat Keanu as a kid. Keanu said something along the lines of "I turned out allright for a kid who was babysat by Alice Cooper," in an interview, and Cooper looked into it. Apparently, Keanu's dad was a friend of Brian Eno, and asked Cooper and the band to look after "little Kenny" while they were recording in Toronto. xp
