Unlike Earendil and Lin, Amalirahc was not big enough to simply absorb the impact of Miyuki's tackle hugs, and he let out a squawk as he fell backwards into the water with Miyuki on top of him.
"Okay!" he giggled, hugging her back with one arm and propping himself up with the other so that his head was above the water. "We'll play with all of our friends, right?"

Miyuki giggled as she crawled off of him, "Right! With everyone else."
Getting up, she brushed herself off even though that was a lost cause really.
"I'll see you later!"

"See you later!" Amalirahc grinned in reply as he got to his feet.
He ran back to his parents, and in a moment, Kelirahc summoned his dragon and they all climbed on its back. Very soon, they were gone.
Earendil smiled at Miyuki. "Going to come help us?" he asked her, inviting her back to join him and Lin.

"Yay!" Miyuki exclaimed as she hurried back towards her parents, past worries forgotten.
It was as if she didn't even remember why it had come to the point where her best friend went off and she ended up playing with her parents. Of course to her there was nothing wrong just playing with her parents, she was still a bit clingy to them.
She plopped herself down in the wet sand without caring that her butt was getting soggy and dirty with wet sand.
"Let's make more towers!" she exclaimed.

Earendil chuckled. "Like the castle on the cliff?" he grinned, pointing up at it. It had many more towers than the Southland palace had, or the Eastland palace, for that matter. But then, with less ground space, it needed to be large somewhere.

In truth Miyuki only wanted more towers because she liked making towers. She looked up at the castle in the far distance and it seemed like a great idea though.
"Yea! Like that one!" she pointed up, "With windows! And really high ones too...."
"Do you like high places?" Lin asked curious, knowing she was somewhat fond of high places and her mother was really fond of high places.
"Very high!" Miyuki put her hands up high.

Earendil laughed at that. "Something else you have in common," he grinned. "Well then, more towers it is."
And so they spent the remainder of the afternoon, playing in the sand, snacking on the rest of the food from the packed lunch, but as the sun began to lower in the sky, it was time to return to the castle.
"Time to go," Earendil smiled at Miyuki. He held his arms out to her, a silent offer to carry her back. "I hope you had fun today."

Miyuki hurried over to her ada and tackled him, wrapping her arms around his arms.
"I had lots and lots of fun! Can we do this again?"
She would love to do something like this again in the future. It was the bestest day she ever had with her ada.
"We'll see for the future," Lin murmured patting her daughter's head.

Earendil chuckled and stood up, holding Miyuki in his arms. "I'm sure we'll have another opportunity before we leave," he smiled. He looked at Lin. "I sincerely hope we have many more opportunities such as we had today."
It had been one of the best days he could ever remember having.

Lin smiled up at him knowingly, she certainly did too, especially moments with just the two of them. She hoped for more of those...
"Me too..." she murmured softly.
"Me three!" Miyuki exclaimed.

And so they returned back to the castle. Days passed, and then weeks, and at last the construction of the new city began, starting with the tearing down of the walls. Spring passed, summer approached, and the new babies grew like the proverbial weeds. Earendil made sure that he spent at least one full day with Lin and Miyuki every single week, and with his help, Aerin began to implement the new economy, using the construction itself as a starting point.
While the people of Amon Darthir worked on the city, the crew from the Zephyr began to work on their own project: a port and some ships for the people of Amon Darthir, so that they could have a naval economy as well. Roydon was in charge of this part of the Reconstruction (as the people were calling it). Even Kaito had a part: he was meticulously recording the events twice - once in elvish for Aerin's archives, and once in his own journal (what language was anyone's guess, sometimes it depended on his mood) for Shiro.

Lin found herself letting her hair grow again, even though she could have easily gotten it cut. It would probably never be as long as any of the long haired women she knew, but she figured having it a tad longer than her mother's own chin length hair wouldn't hurt.
Miyuki also had grown but it was mentally instead of physically. This wasn't a surprised seeing as she was a stage growing child. Despite Lin's worries Miyuki continued to progress in her languages, she seemed to understand Japanese easier than any other language, which made Lin wondered sometimes. Most importantly though Miyuki had gotten to the point where Lin could pass along the age old tradition of journal writing to her daughter. Even if they were short scribbles it was still journal writing.
At that moment Lin and Miyuki were visiting Rhea, which meant the twins. Miyuki was fascinated by the twins, because she could watch them grow since they were born. Not only that but they were just interesting to watch and play with.

The twins were growing quickly, though they were still smaller than most elven babies their age. Their hair was growing quickly too - for both of them, their hair was already very nearly down to their shoulders, a sort of rusty, fiery colour.
At the moment, the two of them were on their stomachs on the ground. They were just at the age where they were able to raise their heads on their own, and they were both staring at Miyuki, interested as always in what they saw.
As they had aged, it had become apparent that there was a way to tell the two apart - when they were awake. Xion's eyes were hazel, like his mother's, but Rhiannon's were a bright green, just like Aurin's.
"They love just looking around," Rhea told Lin proudly from where they were sitting together on the couch in her bedchamber. "They're so bright and alert ... and I'm finally sleeping at night again! I think they've finally settled into a real sleeping pattern."

Lin chuckled at that, "That must be a relief. I can't imagine getting up in the middle of the night like the way you've have."
since Lin had been lucky in that regard. Miyuki had never been 'young' enough to go through that.
Miyuki was waving her tails, spreading them out like a fan because she was interested in the babies reactions. She was highly amused by this.

"And still do," Rhea laughed. "But at least they wake up the same time every night now. So I can sleep two hours, get up, sleep two hours, get up, and so on. All in all, I do manage about ... well, eight hours, usually. Just not all at once."
She looked down at the twins on the floor, who were staring at Miyuki, their eyes growing wider every time she moved her tails, their feet kicking with excitement.
"Still," Rhea murmured softly, "it's worth every moment."
