I wonder what Miss Riza is planning, Erika thought, having closed her eyes as well, but more to protect them from the smoke. She listened attentively, but couldn't quite hear her challenger's voice. A command had been issued, however, as after a few moments of silence, Ivysaur gave a cry of pain. Needless to say, the Grass-type hadn't been expecting to be hit with a Psychic-type attack, and within the cloud of smoke he shook himself violently, trying to rid himself of the mental interloper. "Ivysaur..." Erika said quietly, a small frown creasing her lips. She knew that having her Pokemon run into the haze would be dangerous, as even she wasn't quite sure of what attack had just hit her Pokemon. "Use Razor Leaf," she called, opening her eyes. "Spread it out to cover as much area as you can."
"Saaauur!" roared the Seed Pokemon, rearing back on his hind legs as he let a wide-spread barrage of razor-sharp leaves go sweeping through the smoky haze. With any luck, their swift movements would help to lift some of the smoke, and with a little more, maybe the could even score a bit of damage on the pesky Quilava.
=-=-=-=-= Lisa's blush faded almost instantly as she looked up at Jaeshan. "What, us? Together? Like boyfriend-girlfriend together? No way," she laughed. "We're just friends - rivals, even - so you can take that worried look off your face now." She leaned back in her seat, pulling her legs up so that she was perched cross-legged on the chair. It was an easy truth - sure, she may have thought Jae was pretty cute and total dork at times (which only made him that much cuter) and he was a pretty awesome trainer and all that, but she didn't have any sort of romantic feelings for the boy.
Jaeshan sighed, trying not to look as relieved as he felt. "Friends... rivals..." he repeated, closing his eyes. He was sure that at some point, the two must have had some spectacular battles, and he desperately wished he could remember them. His thoughts kept circling back to Jade, however, and he sighed before looking over at the blue-haired girl. "When you found me in the forest... did you happen to see anything - or anyone - suspicious? At all?" He knew it was probably a long-shot, but at this point, he was willing to take any sort of lead he could get.
Lisa pursed her lips thoughtfully, having taken a Pokeball from her pocket and was now deftly rolling it along her fingers. "I'm not sure if this really counts, but I did see two women dressed in kimonos hanging around not long after you guys went off to the forest. I didn't really think much of it, but one of them would look at me, frown, and then look away. She had this weird, leafy Pokemon with her too. It seemed to be looking for something."
At the mention of the Pokemon, Jaeshan bolted upright, which might have been a mistake seeing as it made his head throb painfully. "My PokeDex," he said, waving his hand at Lisa. "I need my PokeDex! Now!" Wide-eyed, Lisa nodded and jumped up, quickly jogging over to the small table that held Jaeshan's things. Luckily, the sleek, red device was right there in the front pocket and she grabbed it before rushing back over to the bed and handing it to him. Jaeshan booted the device up, thankful that Professor Rowan had given him a state-of-the-art 'Dex rather than an old, beat-up one (like the ancient, joke of a phone he also carried around with him). In no time at all he'd narrowed his search to Grass-types, and a few minutes later, he came up with the Pokemon he'd seen just before losing consciousness before. "Is this the Pokemon?" he asked, holding the device out for Lisa to see. "Is this the Pokemon you saw with those women?"

Watching the battle Dante couldn't help but yawn a bit. To be honest battles weren't all that interesting if you already knew who was going to win. The auburn haired teen was sure that the gym battle would be much more interesting, watching the redhead just trash other trainers though got old after a while. The two pokemon in his arms though seemed fascinated by just about everything, Dante was pretty sure that after this they might try to do some of those moves against each other. Looking down he saw a smug little glint that seemed to mirror Keegans own in his Turtwigs eye. Great, and Keegan feared he was the bad influence, honestly Dante was the good one of this little relationship. If anything Keegan should be begging him to make sure his pokemon didn't pick up any more bad habits of his. Denial was a hell of a drug. Besides, Dante still had time to imprint annoying things on Keegan's little dragon.
"Boy you sure are great with the ladies." Dante commented watching Keegan feed Artemis the Lava Cookie. "I bet you get all the ladies. With your torn up clothes, almost permanent black eye of some sort and winning sunny attitude. It's a wonder you are not beating them off with a stick." What good was no taunting before a gym badge? Dante just adjusted the two little monsters in his arms and followed Keegan into the gym room. "Oh good benches, I thought my arms were going to fall off." He muttered and made a quick bee line to them before setting the two pokemon down.
"Well, it looks like you managed to reach me. Though I really would appreciate it if next time you didn't destroy part of my gym." Norman addressed Keegan from the other side of the large room. " Stepping down from the small step that held a comfortable looking chair for him to sit in, Norman approached the leaders side of the battlefield. "Let's make this easy, a one on one pokemon battle, each of us are allowed three pokemon, no items, no time limit. Is that agreeable to you?" Norman asked his tone all business and none of the friendly teasing of before.

It had been rather difficult, but Keegan managed to keep a straight face as he listened to Dante's taunting. Normally he'd be able to brush the comments aside and probably even laugh them off, but considering recent events, it wasn't such an easy task this time around. Besides, it was awfully difficult to get any ladies when they had the terrible, terrible habit of falling for his crazy best friend. He glanced over as Dante set the two young Pokemon down on a bench before looking back at the Gym Leader.
"But that wasn't me," the redhead protested, pointing back in the direction he'd come from. "That was your trainer and her Clefable, thank you very much." He leaned back on a heel, folding his arms across his chest as he eyed the older trainer across from him. Norman didn't seem like he was the kind to mess around, so Keegan listened attentively, nodding to show that he agreed with the rules set for the match. "Sounds good to me," he said, having already decided on his first Pokemon, and with a flick of his wrist, a Safari Ball went spiraling out into the arena to reveal Moeder, the ever-ready Kangaskhan. She stomped forward and gave a snarl as Keegan took another quick glance back at Dante, Hades and the baby Turtwig. The redhead was determined to win this, for if he lost, he was pretty sure Dante would never let him forget about it.

Dante might not be as mean about those comments if he knew Keegan had just lost his sorta girlfriend to his best friend, maybe. He probably wouldn't be teasing him about it so soon anyway. Still he didn't and the two of them taunting each other constantly was a given whenever they hung out. "If you win this match Keegan we can do whatever you want for the rest of the day, I won't even give you a hard time about it." Dante offered, a rare treat for him. Maybe it was the sight of his old pokemon that caused him to be so generous. Leaning back against the wall he couldn't help but be eager to see just how far the Kengaskhan had grown.
"That is a fine looking Kengaskhan you have there. I don't see to many of them out here." Normal called as he fingered the pokeball in his hand. He was a little nervous about using this one, but a promise to his kids to use the pokemon they caught on their last vacation to Johto was a promise he would keep. While training it had gone well Norman had never used this one in a gym battle before, still, the eager to please pokemon would probably live up to it's namesake in this battle. If nothing else Norman wouldn't catch hell from his kids. "All right Lucky your up." Norman just wished they hadn't named the thing, it was so unprofessional.
Out of the pokeball sprang a Dunsparce, even more rare though was the fact that it was a bright pink instead of blue, hence the name Lucky. The small snake like pokemon flapped it's tiny white wings and gave a happy cry. It was finally time to prove himself! "All right Lucky use Glare." Norman ordered his voice calm and commanding. The Land Snake pokemon twirled around a bit before lifting the front of his body up and doing his best to Glare down at the Kengashan, even though the other normal type was taller then him.

The redhead chuckled lightly at Dante's offer and waved his hand to show that he'd heard him. Moeder, meanwhile, preened at Norman's comment and stood up a little taller (not that the seven-foot-something mama-monster of a Pokemon needed to). "Thanks, she's something else," Keegan replied, and found that he couldn't help but grin a s well. He looked to the Kangaskhan as Norman appeared to have a bit of hesitation in choosing his first Pokemon, hoping he'd made the right choice. Moeder, while not a frequent battler (as she often spent more time at home helping his parents wrangle baby Pokemon), had never let him down before, and she seemed to be quite eager to strut her stuff as she'd gotten over her temporary vanity and was once again looking very fierce.
Now Keegan wasn't sure what to expect as the Normal-type user finally selected his first Pokemon, but the odd-looking (and... pink?) Pokemon that Norman had sent out was definitely not topping his list. "Is that.." the redhead mumbled, taking out his PokeDex just to be sure, "a Dunsparce?" Indeed it was, and it was apparently one of those so-called 'shiny' Pokemon as its colouring was completely different from the one in the 'Dex. "Okay then," Keegan muttered, closing the device and slipping it back into the pocket of his ruined jacket. He definitely needed to toss this one out when the battle was over.
Norman had called for a Glare, a move that the redhead was all-too familiar with. Starting the battle off with a paralyzed Pokemon wasn't something he really wanted. "...I don't think so," he said calmly. "Moeder, Fake Out." With more speed than one might expect from such a large Pokemon, Moeder quickly closed the distance between herself and Lucky the Dunsparce before she thrust her arm forward to deliver a firm, open-palmed strike to the smaller Pokemon.

Norman couldn't help but grin at the use of Fake Out. Opening with that usually signaled that this was going to be a tough battle. Still Lucky wasn't going to be out with just one move, and if his Glare didn't work? Well then that wasn't the only thing they could do. "Lucky Yawn." Norman called out. Putting a pokemon to sleep was always a good advantage, that and it seemed that this Kangaskhan had a bit of an ego, showing such disdain for her beautifully executed attack might just infuriate her.
On the field Lucky was still reeling a bit from the attack. What had happened? His attacks had never been interrupted like that before! The Dunsparce though was quick to listen to his trainer though. Settling himself back down the Land Snake pokemon opened up his mouth in a wide and somewhat mocking Yawn sending a few sleepy clouds out into the arena. Closing his mouth the normal type did his best to give a somewhat smug look towards the other pokemon. He may not have landed his last attack but his trainer was a gym leader! There was no way he was going to be beaten!
Dante meanwhile watched from the sidelines. The moment that Dunsparce was sent out he had a bad feeling that maybe his promise to Keegan was not going to be super fun to uphold on his part. Still he was very impressed by Moeders Fake Out and the swift stop to any sort of paralyzed antics, though Dante did bite back a groan at the call for a Yawn. It seemed like this might be a battle of status effect hell. Please just let Keegan want to get roaring drunk after the battle instead of take his frustrations out on him.

A rather expressive expletive was on Keegan's lips as despite Moeder's skillful strike, it seemed that Norman was determined to inflict a status ailment upon the Kangaskhan no matter what. It didn't help that Keegan had a sort of unlucky streak of his own. Okay then, we'll just have to give that thing the beating of its life between now and the end of the next turn, the redhead thought, managing to keep his unclean language to himself. The strange, floating cloud-thing more or less exploded in Moeder's face in spite of her wild attempts to stop it, and after only a few seconds, the Kangaskhan let out a loud yawn as well. Keegan himself found the need to stifle one and he gave his head a shake, green eyes narrowed as he stared across the battlefield at the pink Dunsparce. "Moeder, I think it's time to use Dizzy Punch," he called, already clearly able to see the drowsiness in his Pokemon's eyes. Maybe for once he'd get lucky, and the attack would confuse the Dunsparce. Fighting off the sleepiness for now, the Kangaskhan gave a bellowing roar and charged at the Normal-type, a slight glow encompassing her hand as she swung it around, still quite eager to knock Lucky into the middle of next week.

"Are you ready, Kyoko?" Her hand touched the hollow of her throat lightly, her other arm crossed tightly against her waist. Why was she so afraid? This is what she was made for. This was all she ever knew. Kyoko looked at the older woman in the kimono, Eri, who had been her mentor up until this point. She was beautiful, Kyoko thought. And so kind. Even now, seeing the apprehension Kyoko thought she had hidden, Eri smiled consolingly. "Do not be afraid, child," she said, placing a gentle hand on the young girl's shoulder. Her voice was soft and warm. "You have lived your entire life here. Not many acolytes can say that." There was a pause and the dark-haired girl pulled the thin grey robe tighter around herself. That was what students wore as they were under the tutelage of the kimono women. In just a few minutes, she would swear the oath and would be given a thicker robe, decorated with a symbol on the back. That would mean she was in training. And once her Eevee was ready to evolve, she would really be one of them -- she would be given her very own kimono. Kyoko closed her eyes. Was she really ready for this? To promise herself, her very life, everything to this place? Some small part of her could not help but wonder what would happen if she refused to swear the oath, if she simply up and left. "You will be so great," Eri promised her then, as if reading her thoughts and sensing her uncertainty. "You will be everything we've been looking for. There are wonderful things in store for you, Kyoko."
Eri had been like a mother to her -- how could she deny her this? It is what's right, Kyoko thought, taking a deep breath. I owe them everything. I can give them more. She looked down at the floor, her hair spilling forward. She had undone it for this occasion; once she was in training, she would have to wrap it up in a bun. Her hands came to rest at her sides; the girl looked up and her eyes found Eri's. She knew what she had to do.
The return to Ecruteak had felt like an eternity. Ren, Sora, and Jade (for she still felt like Jade in her heart; she still wore her clothes and spoke with her voice and thought her thoughts. It felt impossible, unquestionable to simply stop doing so) traveled on foot, although Sora and her Leafeon knew a shortcut back through the forest. Jade had refused to cry in front of them, refused to let her composure slip any more than it already had, even when she turned her back and left Jaeshan behind her. The ache in her heart then was immeasurable; she feared it would always hurt this much. She feared that it would be the thing that killed her then. She had come with them peacefully, as she promised, although she said nothing for the entire length of time despite all of Sora's attempts to get her to speak. She remembered who the other girl was now -- she had been an acolyte that came to them very late, probably at 16, and had quickly learned and passed all of their tests and swore the oath without complications. She was a year older than Jade, but they were -- had been, at least -- on even grounds. Until now, apparently; her Eevee evolving into Leafeon made her a full-fledged kimono girl.
It was the boat ride from Canalave back to Olivine that was the worst. Jade often found herself on deck, looking out into the water, overcome with despair. For all of Sora's teasing and prodding, it was Ren's silence that got to her. She wished it had been Eri who had found her instead. She wondered how her former teacher would have reacted; would she have let her go? She missed her comforting presence; Ren seemed cold and reserved by comparison. But that would be nothing when she finally arrived at the Kimono Dance Theatre and had to face her punishment. There would be no one to comfort her there, not anymore.
After days of traveling, the sight of Ecruteak made her legs almost buckle underneath her. Jade felt as though she might be sick as they walked through the familiar town, her eyes shifting from one sight to another. But she would not let them see her be weak. Her knuckles whitened as she clenched her fists, trying to keep her face impassive. They taught her so well not to show her emotions, so she would not. She would not cry or scream; that was the only strength she had anymore. "Are you ready, Kyoko?" Ren asked her as the Dance Theatre loomed in the distance. Jade noticed then that her hair was down, just like it was all that time ago. They would make her tie it back up again -- they would take it all away from her. She had to stop walking.
Both Sora and Ren looked at her suspiciously, as if wondering what she might try. Sora in particular looked eager to stop her. No, the dark-haired girl thought, looking the blonde dead in the eyes, raising her chin slightly in defiance. She tucked her hair behind her ears and straightened her back. "Yes," she said then, just as she answered two years ago, and perhaps it was that small bit of uncertainty in her heart back then that had led her to this point. "I'm ready."

Some time later, Jasper had returned to the Pokemon Center, now fully-equipped with the proper knowledge of how to use his newly-acquired TMs. That feeling of being watched had never actually gone away, and even as he stepped out back to the designated battling area (perhaps it was easier to maintain one area rather than having trainers destroying the streets) the boy continued to glance around him and back over his shoulder. He wanted to tell himself that he was being ridiculous, but over the years, he'd learned to trust his gut feelings, as they'd never really led him astray before. The uneasy feelings did subside a little once he'd released his merry band of misfits, and for once he was pleased to see the lot of them actually getting along (sorta). Even Paras hadn't turned tail and fled for once.
"Gather 'round, you bunch of weirdos," the bandanna-clad youth called, plopping himself down in the center of the arena. He felt sort of cool, sitting there in the middle of the white-painted Pokeball symbol, he had to admit. "I got y'all some fancy new moves." There was a loud chorus of excited cheering. "Well, except for you, Ditto." The blue blob made a sad 'awwwwww' sound and sank to the ground miserably, thus subjecting itself to a series of curious pokes and prods from Zorua. "Such a drama queen," Jasper sighed, holding up the first disc, which was a yellow-ish colour. "Koffing, c'mere." Not needing to be told twice, the happy poison type drifted over to her trainer. "Here goes nuthin'," the boy sighed, biting his lower lip as he pressed the disc to the toxic Pokemon's body, right between her eyes. There was a faint, yellow glow and then nothing. The Thunderbolt TM had turned a dull shade of slate grey. "Feel any different?" Jasper asked, but Koffing just stared back at him, wearing an unusually happy grin.
Jasper repeated the process with Paras next, and surprisingly, it didn't take too much coaxing, even if the Mushroom Pokemon then ran off to cower under a bench. Zorua was next, and the clever little fox didn't need to be asked if hers had worked for soon she'd created several copies of herself that were now all chasing each other in an endless circle. "Oh, that was a smart move," Jasper chuckled as he held out the disc he'd received from Falkner for Croconaw. He wouldn't get a chance to use it properly, however, as the gator had quickly reached out and snapped her jaws shut on it, devouring it in three sharp crunches. Jasper stared at the water type in awe but could think of nothing to say in response to her actions, so instead he just watched as she jumped up and delivered an almost blindingly-fast slashing attack to a poor, defenseless rock. "...the guy at the shop never said anything about feeding them the TMs," the boy mumbled finally. * * * * * * * * * * Hayley gave a small sigh of relief when she saw that Tisyphone had knocked out Brock's Geodude, but the brunette was certain that they hadn't seen anything yet. The Nidorina had quickly retreated to her side, still wearing a rather fierce look as she and her quirky trainer awaited the release of Brock's second and final Pokemon - and what a second and final Pokemon it was, at that!
The gym leader's little play on words had pretty much gone over the Bennett girl's head as she watched the light from the Pokeball take shape, her gaze drifting upward and her eyes growing wider than ever when she saw that she was looking at an impressive Onix. For once, Hayley was lost for words as she watched the giant rock type increase its physical attributes, and it wasn't until she felt Mya nudging her that she remembered she still had a job to do; a badge to win! "O-okay Tiss! Give 'em a Poison Sting!" she called out. It wouldn't matter how high Onix's defenses were if it was steadily being drained by poison. The barbs on the Nidorina's back bristled and with a sharp cry, the venomous projectiles were launched at the Rock Snake Pokemon. Brock was right; they certainly weren't out of the woods, not by a long-shot.

The Dizzy Punch was rather, well dizzying. Norman watched the attack connect with a small wince and Lucky was sent flying into the air. The normal type managed to use the tiny wings on it's back to slow down its fall but it became clear that something was pretty wrong with the weird zigzag's that marked Lucky's decent back to earth. It seemed that Lucky, wasn't so lucky right now. Sighing Norman watched his pokemon land and waver slightly on the ground. "Lucky use Defense Curl." Norman called. He would deal with his pokemon being confused later, when there wasn't a rampaging, and awake Kangaskhan to deal with. Until then he would just shore up their defenses until that pokemon fell asleep. As long as hit pokemon didn't proceed to just bash their face into the ground. Norman let out an exasperated sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose as he watched Lucky hit himself in the face one more time before looking over to Norman to see if he was proud of his accomplishment.
Dante on the sidelines was doing his best not to laugh at the gym leader. They had all been there when your pokemon is confused and hurts themselves. The funny part really though was the proud look on the Dunsparces face as it looked back at Norman to see if the gym leader was proud of him. On the ground the baby Turtwig was confused by the whole situation, what had just happened?

Entering the PokeCenter for what seemed like the hundredth time since his arrival in Violet City, Ben offered his weary Pokemon to the reception nurse and headed into the lounge to wait. He needed a strategy. But with only two Pokemon, his options were limited. "I need to catch more," he thought aloud, idly wondering what some good ones were, around here. But then, he had to think, those new Pokemon would need a lot of training before they were ready for a Gym battle. So he might as well just work on training the two that he had to be even stronger.
When the nurse called him back up, he knew just what he needed to do. Taking his pokeballs with a word of thanks, Ben replaced them onto his belt and set out to the routes around the city. He would train, and he would get stronger. And the next time he faced Falkner, he would be ready.

Brawly smirked at his challenger's command. Not too bad, he thought, watching as Machop feverishly shook his head to keep himself awake. He would have called out to try to rally his Pokemon, but he knew better than that. Hypnosis was a very potent move, and very few could shake off its effects. The Superpower Pokemon faltered one last time before flopping on the ground, fast asleep.
But he was too experienced to lose his composure. Instead, the gym leader merely crossed his arms, retaining his pleasant expression. "By all means." he chuckled, gesturing to his Machop. He'd wake up sooner or later, and then he would show this smirking fart what for.

For a Pokemon that didn't seem to have much emotional stock in the battle, Digger sure performed a really cool maneuver to break from Vesuvius's Fire Spin. Mike could almost hear the sound of applause in the background. No no, wait, he totally could.
"Oh yeah?" he replied, putting his hands on his hips. "Not to sound like a broken record, but, well, two can play at that game as well!" His writers were on lunch break, obviously. "Rapid Spin!" The boy giggled at the order, wondering just how Vesuvius was going to do anything even remotely quick.
"Tor!" the turtle grunted from within the sandstorm. He may not have been the quickest on his feet, but he was no dunce either! He tucked in his legs, leaving only his head sticking out. Taking in a deep breath, he craned his neck to the side and spit out a stream of flame, which spun him around like a top, blasting the sand away. Still spinning, Vesuvius let out one more burst of fire, rocketing him at the Sandslash with a rapidity that shocked his trainer.
"Well then!" Mike said, chuckling proudly. "Will you just look at that!" He had the most resourceful Pokemon!

"R-run, Polly -- you've gotta get out of there!" Donnie's voice could barely be heard over the terrified shriek of his Poliwag as she ran as fast as those tiny little legs could carry her. Behind her there was the angry purple blur of an Ekans, her fangs bared. Jett kept calling out to Naja, trying to get her attention and hault her assault on the poor Water-type. Viy watched with wide eyes from the boy's side, very interested to see what would happen next. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't much -- Naja, apparently growing tired of hunting, struck fast and landed a particularly nasty-looking bite on the Poliwag's back. The snake refused to let go, instead shaking around the smaller Pokemon and finally tossing her aside, having knocked her out. Both boys stared for a second, quieting down, and Naja curled back up, satisfied with her victory and having reaffirmed her own strength. "Polly," Donnie sniffled, kneeling beside his Pokemon and petting her gently before recalling her to a Pokeball. Jett couldn't help but feel a little bad, considering the look on the younger boy's face. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, biting his bottom lip.
"You... are you okay?" he finally managed to ask, and immediately wanted to smack himself, because that was such a dumb question. The sandy-haired kid looked up at him, sniffled again, and then used the heel of his palms to rub his eyes furiously. He stood up, taking in a deep breath.
"Whatever!" Donnie said, puffing out his chest. "You and your weird Pokemon are super strong! I'm gonna get even stronger than you and one day, I'm gonna beat you! So you better watch out!" Apparently able to collect his pride and dignity much better than Jett was ever able to at his age (or even now), the younger boy stormed off into the trees, presumably to find the way back to the Pokecenter and then to go beat up some Caterpie. The raven-haired boy remained there for a second, staring between Viy and Naja, who glared off at the noisy boy as he vanished. Jett sighed a little and recalled her, studying her Pokeball before motioning to Viy that they had to continue on, as they still had quite the stretch of forest ahead of them. And with it, plenty of more battles.

After such a long, eventful, emotionally draining day, Amy had expected to fall into a coma-like sleep for quite a while. But it turned out to be quite the opposite: the girl slept fitfully, tossing and turning all night and waking up several times from nightmares (most of them concerning her encounter with what was allegedly her father in that shop in Cerulean), only to think that she had seen someone else standing in the dark corners of her room. Whenever she turned the lights on, however, there was no one else to be found. The brunette wished she had a more cuddly Pokemon to bring out that could make her feel better, but the closest she had was Castamere, and when she released him, he simply curled up right beside her and fell asleep within minutes. It was better than nothing, as the cat would meow sleepily whenever she would jolt awake and look fearfully into the shadows.
After that kind of night, Amy indulged herself and slept in once her nightmares had mostly subsided. Although she felt guilty when she finally got up much later in the morning than she'd anticipated, she was in considerably better spirits and felt much, much better after she showered and got dressed. Breakfast was a quick affair, what with all of her Pokemon being efficient (if not downright voracious) eaters and Amy herself picking a lighter meal. As she cleaned up, she realized that she still had no plans for the day -- was she traveling? Training? Challenging more gyms? She could head back to Cerulean, or find her way over to another town. Or maybe she should go shopping (ignoring the fact that she had done so just yesterday -- she had won all that money, and there were plenty of TMs she had in mind for her team) in Celadon. She had reached somewhat of a decision by the time she had recalled all of her team and walked out into that fresh Vermilion air.
"I'll go wherever the wind takes me!" she told no one in particular, happy to feel the sun on her face. At the moment, there wasn't much of a breeze, and she was pretty sure it was blowing her back into the Pokecenter, but that wouldn't stop her. Better, more forceful, metaphorical wind would take her to better places, right?

Still hidden fairly well within her veil of smoke, Eris' grin was as smug as can be after her psychic strike had been successful. Riza watched from her end as best she could, hoping her Quilava wasn't getting too far ahead of herself. Erika had called for a wide spread Razor Leaf and she listened carefully. The fire-type gave a pained yelp as she was struck by a few of the sharp leaves, and she looked around, growling angrily as she saw that her smokescreen had been broken up a bit. "Okay Eris, time to turn up the heat. Flame Wheel!" Now that was a move that Eris could get behind! The Quilava began to dart forward, her head and tail burning brightly as her body became covered in flames, and she tucked into a ball, spinning like a brightly blazing comet toward the Ivysaur. * * * * * "What are you doing here, kid?" a loud voice boomed from behind her. Katie spun around to see a tall man wearing dark clothes advancing toward her from the shadows. He had dark hair and wore a black mask that covered his eyes.
"This is private property, you're trespassing," called a second voice from the opposite side. Katie turned a second time to see a similarly dressed man walking toward her.
"I have this map," the girl said bravely, holding up the wrinkled pamphlet. "I was sent here to deliver something."
"That's for the Meteorite Park. Don't lie to us, kiddo," the first man said with a laugh.
"We don't take too kindly to liars around here," the second man added. "Do we, Roscoe?"
"We sure don't, Reggie," Roscoe said. "Around here, we crush liars like puny little ants." With a flick of his wrist, a red and black poke ball had been sent flying, revealing an intimidating looking bug Pokemon. It was red and sported two massive claws on the ends of its arms. Katie realized after a few moments that it was a Scizor.
"I'm not a liar," the orange haired girl insisted, letting Kord's poke ball fly. The Electabuzz appeared in a flash of light and electrical sparks, flexing his muscular arms. Sensing trouble, the electric-type glared up at the slightly bigger Pokemon. He'd take on any Pokemon if it meant keeping Katie safe! * * * * * Brock stood in his fairly trade mark pose, arms crossed over his chest as he watched the Nidorina bravely stand up to his Onix. He was quite impressed with the sudden shift in the poison-type's personality too, as she'd started off fairly meek and timid but now she wasn't letting a giant snake made out of solid rock rattle her.
Hayley once again was attempting to poison his Pokemon, and Brock smirked at the pretty girl. "Not this time, Hayley!" he called out. "Onix, use Iron Tail!" Onix gave a loud, ground shaking roar and reared up, its tail shining brightly as it swung it around like a giant, metal baseball bat. The spray of poison needles bounced off harmlessly and scattered around on the ground. "You'll have to be better than that!" Brock shouted with a grin.

What he had feared had come to pass. He was about halfway through the field when Spearow and Pidgey simply started to go at it. Gusts, sand attacks, pecks, fury attacks, and shrieks filled the air as dozens of the flying types just went at each other. Feathers flew around Kressen as he sprinted trying to clear the field.
How do I always end up in these awful situations! Ughh it's like I've been cursed by a Gengar or somthing. Chased by beedrill and now running through a war zone of flying types. As long as he didn't end up between dragon types going at it he was fine.
Coughing because of all the sand in the air he made it to the end of the field without getting injured for once. Sure he was covered in dirt and feathers, but he hadn't gotten so much as pecked. Not wanting to take any chances he kept running until the cries of battle were out of ear shot.
