"I can't swim neither, so it's okay," Lin murmured.
Miyuki stared at her mother putting her head on her Mummi's shoulder. She frowned a bit as the wheels in her head turned.
"But you could if those stayed in there," she poked her Mummi's shoulder, "And you can do that."
"And I highly dislike doing that."

"And I don't know how to swim either," Earendil added, "and I don't have anything to prevent me from learning other than my own inability."
He smiled gently at her.

Miyuki blinked, it was hard to imagine her ada not knowing how to swim especially since he could! She stared at him, somehow that wasn't right. Sure, it wasn't right she couldn't swim but he could swim but he didn't know how to.
She pointed at him, "Ada should learn how to swim."

Earendil blinked at Miyuki. "Me?" he repeated. "I ... well, I suppose it would be good, but if you and your mother can't, then that's not really fair, is it?"
Though he was the one who had just finished telling her not to worry about fair or not, that life was life.

"But you can swim, not learning to swim because Mummi and I can't isn't fair," Miyuki replied.
Miyuki would love to swim, if she could she would swim. She can't though and she was going to pout about it, but ada could swim but he said he wouldn't because she and Mummi couldn't for whatever reason she thought that was unfair.

Earendil blinked. "But it wouldn't be very nice for you, you would just wish you could also swim, every time you watched me," he protested. "It wouldn't be very nice of me ..."
Miyuki especially would be envious, he didn't want to her to be upset.

Miyuki thought about this and the more she thought about it, she thought that was true. She wanted to be able to swim not ada, but ada should be allowed to swim too. She mulled over it some more which obviously wasn't getting anywhere too fast.
Lin resisted the urge to roll her eyes at Earendil instead she murmured to Miyuki, "We can go build more sandcastles."
Miyuki's ears perked up at that, they could and sit be sitting in the water, and that sounded like fun. Sandcastles she could do!
"Okay! And ada swims for me!"

Earendil blinked. "What? Hey!" he protested. "Why can't I build sandcastles with you?"
He didn't want to be left out!

"Ada doesn't want to learn how to swim?" Miyuki asked innocently.
Her ada never said he didn't want to learn how to swim, so she just assumed that he did, but felt like he couldn't. Even though she knew he could (he was her ada after all), and since she couldn't swim he could swim for her!

"What I want," Earendil said, more calmly now, "is to spend time with you and your mother. What do you think, does that sound fair? All of us doing the same thing, together?"
Little miss logical was, to a degree, almost too logical.

"Okay!"
She didn't even have to think about that one. Anything that involved her spending time with both her Mummi and her Ada was just fine with her. Miyuki smiled up at him her tails limply waving because they were so waterlogged.
Lin giggled at Earendil because it was rare he was so flustered.

Earendil chuckled and put his arms around Lin and Miyuki, hugging them both.
"Right, then let's get to it, shall we?" he grinned. He put one hand on the small of Lin's back, guiding her back to the shore where Miyuki and Amalirahc's castle was waiting to be finished.
Amalirahc watched them as they headed back to the shore. In a way, he wanted to go with them, help them finish the sandcastle he and Miyuki had started ... but on the other hand, he knew that when the three of them were together, Miyuki would probably be preoccupied and wouldn't be playing with him very much.
He looked up at his parents, who were watching him anxiously.
"Can we go visit Uncle Celeb?" he asked them quietly.
Leyenda smiled and put one hand on her son's head. "Say goodbye to Miyuki first," she said softly.
Amalirahc nodded, then waded over to Miyuki and her parents. "Miyuki," he called to get her attention.

Miyuki's ears twitched hearing her name and she looked up to see that Amalirahc was no longer swimming. This she found curious as she had thought he was still in the middle of swimming lessons.
"You're all done?" she made her way towards him.

Amalirahc nodded. "Yeah, I can already swim pretty good, Mama and Ada have been teaching me since I was little. So if you're not going to have a lesson anymore, then I don't need to either. We're going to visit Uncle Celeb on the Zephyr, so I guess I'll see you at dinner tonight?"
There was no point in him taking lessons without his friend, which was really the only reason he had been looking forward to it in the first place.

Miyuki blinked at that she had completely forgotten that Amalirahc knew how to swim. She had thought about that. Not that it could be helped, she simply was not made to swim.
"Aww... okay," she tackled hugged him, "We'll play tomorrow okay?"
