((Alright, I'm gonna move things along a bit, I'll be putting up an rp thread for anyone going into the firekin boarders so we can move into the plot that we've cooked up. whee Just trying to move it forward

((May I please propose a time jump to right now? The last RP took place when Kiuma/Kami/Ta were all adols, young adols, and now they are adults, there are dozens of cubs, and I think it might be more logical/easier for people to jump in if we do a very nice timejump ^^; Besides *pokes the last post* I think these RPs died))

A lioness red as blood stalked up the rocks of her birthplace, every muscle tight with tension. Rage boiled in her, infusing her entire being. How dare he! How dare a stranger do that to her father!

Cream paws carried her swiftly to the tip of the great rock and she stood poised, ears pressed tightly to her skull. Chest expanding with a deep breath, she opened her jaws wide and tossed up her head, letting out a roar to call the others to Priderock. It was nearly loud enough to rattle the stones themselves, and where it couldn't reach, no doubt news of it would be carried but the creatures that lived in the lands.

Kiuma snarled as she closed her teeth with a sharp snap, panting with the effort of making such a noise. She burned... how she burned. Her vision was nearly red-tinged with her anger, but she knew better than to do more than seeth in silence. The others of the pride must be told... And only then would she seek the revenge that ate at her from the inside out. She would not be denied.

Further down the slope, a small blue body slunk along, green eyes wide in a star-marked face. So much commotion tonight, then that sight... Matsai didn't know if he'd ever be able to put it completely from his mind, and he didn't doubt that it would be the subject of his nightmares for many nights to come.

Mother...

He slunk over the rocks, wanting nothing more to be at her side, or at Father's, wanting their comfort. Where was Ahai? He couldn't face this alone. The world was falling down around his ears, its illusions of safety shattered.

Oh, why hadn't he stayed in the den, safe among his siblings? What had prompted him to follow Mother tonight, despite the warnings of the dreams he'd woken from?

For once, Mastema was at a loss of words, just starring blankly up to where his mother was as if he did not reconize the female before him. Down near where his brother was, the youth just blinked hazedly and misunderstood what was going on, moreso because of his innocence and ignorance the matter of death than anything else.

"Matsai..." His meek voice called out, clearly unsure if he should even have a right to speak, "Matsai...what is mother doing, why is the pride being summoned today?" Of course, he had yet to see his grandpa, nor his grandma just yet, he merely followed his mother with a confused gant while she rushed outside, and sought his brother right after.

For all he knew, grandpa was just taking a little rest after staying up all night, which didn't quite explain why Kiuma was roaring as if the world were ending. Tears unexplained went to his eyes, one that were not sobbing, but soft dripping tears, and his emerald eyes sought his elder brother for guidance he could not find as of yet.

Having returned to the Pridelands to stick around after the minor wanderlust, Danzi had been out of the loop in the happenings of the pride. Ears perked, he was surprised when Kiuma had let out the gathering call. Frowning, he headed up to Pride Rock. The smell of blood hit his nose, causing him to wrinkle it. Someone was attacked? Who..? Were they hurt bad...? He worried, naturally.

Eyes falling to her last son, Kiuma snorted gently and pushed him toward's Matsai. "You two stay here, understand? This is a thing for the adults, and I don't want you getting in the way." Her voice was hard, laced with a deep anger. Much as she loved her cubs, love had no place in the goings on tonight, not in the least.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Matsai sighed and rolled his eyes as Mastema appeared, sinking back on his haunches. His gold tasseled tail flicked gently, green eyes cold and serious. "Grandfather got in trouble, Mastema. Now Mother needs to tell everyone about it. So sit down and be quiet."
Father and daughter alike both heard the call, though Mosi was already long gone by the time that Nukta awoke. He realized that her body was missing from the familial pile within the den, among Adanna's (still sleeping, no surprise. Not even a heard of rampaging rhinos could have woken his mate, goodness knew he'd tried everything short of that already.) and Jin's and his own. Naturally it panicked him not knowing where his teenage daughter had gotten off to, following that summons.
Nukta didn't bother waking the others, sure that Jini would've heard the call even if Adanna didn't. The dark hunter moved easily around their bodies and into the grasses of the Pridelands, looking towards Pride Rock, thoughts of his mother, her mate, and their cubs suddenly coming to mind. It didn't take any further motivation to spurn Nukta int a fast pace towards the royal dens.
------------------
Mosi's dreams had been horrendous that night. Why in the stars names would she be having such a horrible nightmare about Xu or Jing? She wasn't sure which of the two it was in her sleep-enduced vision, but the white pelt with the golden markings made it clear beyond doubt.
In her vision there was also a pair of shadows, one towering, and with a malevolent air about it, and the other steadfast and unyeilding, Pride Rock looming ominously in the background. Jing or Xu, whichever of them it was, was stuck between the two entities when they'd suddenly charged one another, leaving her aunt or uncle stuck in the middle. Mosi had startled awake just as the figures were colliding, and without even so much as telling anyone where she was going, she left for Pride Rock to find out what happened. She was already more than halfway there when Kiuma summoned the pride members. The sun-eyed youth arrived at the base of Pride Rock with a heavy sense of doom hanging overhead. The first thing she did was to hurry to her grandparents den and make sure that all were accounted for, which by that time they were. Ausi'Juu wouldn't say what happened though, having Xu curled securely within her forepaws. When Mosi demanded an explanation, her grandmother simply redirected her again to the princess' call.
"Dammit!" The adolescent cursed as she moved towards the stone steps.
~What in the hell happened?~
-----------------------
Nukta arrived beside Mosi shortly after that, panting softly from the run. He'd also stopped in to see his mother, and now found Mosi already at the scene, coming up alongside his daughter to stand slightly towering attentively beside her. He didn't recognize Kiuma, but assumed by her pelt that she must be related to the royal family. Not many of the rogues and other pride members here still bore such naturally colored pelts.
Kitengele's ears flattened against her skull and her green eyes narrowed nervously. She had been awoken from her peaceful slumber next to her mate by the angry snarls and yowls from the murder. The fur along her spine bristled as she crept over the rocks, the moonlight bathing her fur, making it shine with silver. Though she did not yet know that Mufasa was dead, she knew that something was horribly wrong. Some of the roars she had heard clearly belonged to the valiant old king, and she knew that his health and strength were failing. Any battle as fierce as the one she heard earlier would not do anything to help his physical maladies.
An unlikely form slipped through the savannah, her ears perked forward with curiosity. Unlike Kit, the only part of her that was lit up were her eyes, which sparkled. She had just so happened to have chosen that night to look over the Pridelands, the lands that bordered her own. Pride Rock was a majestic sight and she had fantasized more than once about ruling it as her own.
Regardless, that was not why she was visiting. There had been the faintest sounds of a fight, and the small lioness was not one to pass up a battle opportunity.
Verdad stalked from her den, tail tucked between her legs. The muscles in her larger and longer limbs shivered as she stretched them out. She hadn't heard the sounds of wars while curled up by her mothers side in slumber. Green eyes blinked up at the red lioness on the rock. The roar had scent a chill down her spine and through her dreams, causing her to wake before her Mother and Aden.
Was something...wrong?
There had never been such a meeting since her birth and now, as a juvenile, she had absolutely no idea what was going on. A yawn stretched her maw and for once, the orange female looked tired. To be called out so early seemed odd for the pride. Something was definately wrong.
"What's happened?..."
Tia yawned widely and perked her ears, instinctively pulling Verdad back towards her and giving the excitable juvenile a reassuring lick. "Stay here for a moment, Ver," she said quietly, stretching and padding towards Pride Rock. A quick glance around showed her that there was no immeadiate danger, and the lions all slowly approaching Pride Rock looked as confused as she was. She turned round and beckoned to her cubs. "It's okay, stay near me."
Aden scowled and shook fur from his eyes, looking grumpy at having been awoken. He glanced curiously from Verdad to his mother, and padded eagerly to the mouth of the den, wondering what all the fuss was about. "What is it, mother?" he murmured, tail swaying slowly behind his small form.
Green paws carried the adolescence towards Pride's rock. Something had come up, as Siltim and his family have been hearing whispers about the king. Curious as to whether they were true or not, he sought to seek out some answers. His mother would have come with him, but heavily pregnant with cubs prevented her from long, strenuous walks and so, he would be her eyes and ears for right now.
In the distance, the large rock formation came into view. A smile eased it's way onto his features, though he was a bit nervous as to the large gathering forming around the rock. Something indeed was wrong, and if those whispers were true, they were going to be losing more than just a founding father. Ears pricked forward as he fought to keep a small smile on his face as he came closer towards the lions and lionesses, not recognizing most of them.
-Ears twitching softly to wake, it wasn't the sound of his mother, as terrifying as the sound might be that drew him. But rather the lack of his twin that brought Ahai outside of the den, quickly siddling up to the familar figure of his two siblings as he found them in the dim twilight. Indifference laced his features, but he sat dutifully nonetheless, watching the strange show that occured before him.-
-A shudder rocked through Kami as she began to make her way up the rocks, leaving the den she'd naively retreated to. She'd believed her fathers lies.. that he'd be alright.. that the lioness would fix him. But the sound of Kiuma's roar... It'd shot fear and sickness to her stomach that buried her in the truth she'd been too stupid to see.
Her legs wobbled as she tried to step between each stone, pulling her body over the last rim of the edge before she slunk nearer to her crimson sister, silent except for the soft eyes that begged for good news.-
It was the sound of lions groaning in agony that awoke the small black child from her hazy dreams. At first she thought it might have been a part of her sleep, and she took a moment to pick apart the strands of reality and the dreamscape she had so recently occupied. But then another low call- the at once the black cat was on her feet, her ears alighted to the air. It was not a call for her- in the shady distance she could make out the figures of adults moving to the great monolith. A flutter clutched No’s heart and she shifted, peering around the rock for any traces of her own family. Ausi sat looking stiff, Xu curled in her paws.
Something with the king, she observed as passing lions mouthed things. She wasn’t quite sure yet if the young were summoned- although she noted some cubs stumbling besides their mothers to hear what the call was about.
No peered outside the mouth of the den, pricking her whiskers forward in silent consideration of what was going on. Why wasn’t mother going? No turned and sleepily blinked her faded green eyes, when another lioness stepped into the den. It was Mosi- her elder brother’s daughter, and she seemed a tad frantic before she had taken account the full occupancy of the den. Although she was not a quiet creature- No stumbled to the sidewall and kept quiet to listen to Mosi digress and hopefully learn about the situation.
Mother would say nothing, and that brought another dull thump to her chest. Had something happened to Xu? No had never seen Ausi clutch to one of her children quite like that... In a flurry, Mosi left.
“Mom-“ No bleakly spoke, moving back to the mouth of the den so she could watch the moving lions. “Why didn’t you tell her what is happening?” She asked, attempting to phrase the question in a manner which she, too, could learn about what was going on.
She felt grim, certain by the anger in the princess' summons that the worst had happened, and suddenly the older female felt self-blame washing over her. If she had just been watching Xu more carefully, if she'd just stayed to help Mufasa, if she'd woken Daimyn when she left to find their daughter, perhaps this could have been avoided. She could only tell her granddaughter to find the news from the source when Mosi demanded to be informed. Ausi knew that the fight had been fatal for their king rather than the intruder, but she'd hope that Mosi would come back with some semblance of good news. She leant over to place another series of reassuring kisses behind Xu's ears, purring deeply to help soothe the air when there was chaos going about outside. Jing'fei was also awake by now, and stayed between his parents, watching Xu and trying to comfort her by purring as well, until she either fell asleep or seemed alright. He didn't like seeing his sister this afraid. He wanted to know what was going on too, but was just as lost as No, only catching the looks of concern on Mosi's face and most of the pride members as they ambled by.
She could have lost her little star tonight, Mufasa had (most likely) given his life to protect that life, she didn't know how to live with the guilt. Twice now her parenting had cost someone she cared about their lives.
No questioned her then, and Ausi turned sad eyes to her child, trying to maintain composure and reassurance. The truth was, Ausi'juu knew that Mosi wouldn't have handled the news well, and would have likely caused more of an uproar among the family than anything. Ausi was still debating exactly how to answer No, when Nukta arrived next on the scene, only doing a head count, and--
"I'm going to see what's going on. You all stay here, mom."
--disappeared again. This time, Tai wasn't at all far behind. Daimyn's sister and the children's one full relative beside their parents. Ausi was still a bit dazed from Nukta's brief encounter, but saw an opprotunity here.
"Tai, are you going to see what's going on?"
"Yes, I take it you don't know either, Ausi?" Tai questioned softly, though her eyes lingered suspiciously on the child curled in her mother's protective paws, taking in Ausi's state, she thought she may know more than she let on right now.
Ausi'juu turned her green eyes to No again, nodding. "No, Jing, if you really want answers, you can go with your Aunt Tai, but stay close to her and don't wander off right now."
Ausi trusted Tai, as one of the pride's nannies, to look after No and Jing, and to show good judgement regarding how to handle translating the current events if the need arose.
Tai nodded again and looked to No herself. "Come on then. They'll be safe with me, Ausi."
And with that said the ghostly figure fluidly U-turned and slipped back out of the den, heading under the shadow of Pride Rock's lip and it's wall to lead the juvenilles towards the commotion above.
(*/Tag*)
Nukta, meanwhile, watched as more arrivals showed up to answer Kiuma's call, and he grew steadily anxious with the uncertainty hovering in the air, though the scent of blood lingered faintly as the heiress acended the throne as well alongside her sister. He sensed Mosi's tensing from beside him. Had she had a premonition about this in her sleep? She probably had now that he thought about it, it would explain why she was awake even before the call went out. He simply nudged his daughter with his snout and waited with the rest to hear the news.
