~ hold ~
"As soon as repairs are completed we should be setting out for a return trip to the city of Anachronism. That should be within three days, I believe. If you would like, you can choose an unoccupied cabin and stay aboard during that time."

[Hold] Dominik gives Daniel a sad excuse for a smile. "Thank you. I shall be on my way to claim a room then. Good day to you."
[Cabins] After claiming his cabin, Dominik sets his briefcase down on the bed and locks the doors. He then decides to stare at the wall for an hour, adjusting the settings on his mechanical monocle, attempting to see through it.

Nick nodded. "That's good. Wot happened to her that'd merit repairs? Pirates?" Nick gestured around at the ship. "About two days south-west of here, by air of course, I saw the remains of what musta been a vicious attack." He swore viciously under his breath at the memory.

Penelope poured some hot water into a cup and let Miss Alexandria's tea steep for a moment before taking it to her. "I'm sorry you kept getting called away from meals." she said as she set the cup on the table.

"No pirates this time. Just a heavy storm that we couldn't get above in time."
He turns to the clank. "Tris, could you assist Nick with his bags to the passenger deck?"
"Priority orders, we cannot leave you."
"Ah. I see. Well then, I suppose we shall all go to the passenger deck."
Turning back to Nick he continues, "It is only one level up from the hold, any of the stairways along the perimeter will do." He then begins walking to the nearest one, the two clanks following behind.

[hold] "I owed you a debt first capn', You pulled wuneye from the clouds and carried me to land. If I hand not helped you, i may have been sent to the skies with the rest of your shipmates. and with nothing to keep us up eh?" Wuneye grinned. "I was hoping to stay with you if could. These steam machines always need a good strong hand working them sometimes."
I could hole up in here if you dont mind, all i need is a bench" he indicates the metal bunk he had onstructed earlier agains one wall. "I would greatly like a puropse again. nothing worse than a unused knight. cant get rusty now.

Alexandria carfully took the hot cup and gulped down the steaming liquid before hit had a chance to burn her tongue.
"Thanks! I should have guessed the amount of food I get would go down when I came aboard, actually.. So much goes on here, I find it hard to believe anyone actually managed to eat anything at all!"
She paused and looked down into her almost empty bowl.
"So. What brought you to this life Penelope?"

[Hold, en route to Passenger Deck]
Nick raised an eyebrow, inscrutable behind his mask of goggles, at the clank's reply but made no comment.
"Roomy ship" remarked Nick thoughtfully. "Looks smaller from the outside. How many other passengers are there?"

[Cabins] After failing to get his monocle to function properly, Dominik decided to head up to the galley and eat something because he was bored. He could not spy on people, so to satisfy his boredom, all he had was food.
[Galley] Once he reached the galley, Dominik took a seat at one of the tables in the corner and proceeded to stare out into space.

"Only a few at the moment. Aft end of the deck are crew cabins, they're a bit smaller, you'll want one of the ones on the forward half. There's plenty to choose from, ones in the middle are closer to the galley just above."
In the narrow corridor, the graceful clank fits easily, but the great monstrous other one has to exhibit a very peculiar behavior indeed. The clank, despite being made very obviously of solid components, somehow moves like liquid over the walls and ceiling of the hallway, disassembling itself and reassembling itself as needed. Carried along in this flow are a decently-sized metal trunk which explains a great deal of the machine's earlier bulk, and a bowling-ball sized bronze sphere with regularly spaced sockets in it.

"Yeah . . . um, how is he doing that?" Nick cocked a thumb at the larger clank. "Is it magnetism? Or maybe strings that go slack or taut? I've never seen a clank quite so. . . " he struggled for the right word, "Quite so versatile, I guess."

"Well, as nearly as I can figure there's a central motive device, that's the round bit, and it seems to manipulate the components in series. Each component seems to be an oblong bundle with manipulators inside that can be manipulated by the manipulators of other components. It seems to build more components for itself as necessary. It's not so much a clank as a pile of powerless clanks being activated by contact with the central powered bit."

"That's . . . unusual. I'd certainly like to study one, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have time. I could certainly benefit from a device, though." Nick was mostly talking to himself now, thinking of the doors such a device would open. A though occured to him: "Um, will my room have windows? Or can I make a request for one? It's not claustrophobia, but in an airship I do prefer to have a window as I sleep else I feel summat sick."

Myles takes a look about. "Let's see... this corridor is a ring, those are the inward cabins, which means the ones opposite should be hull-side... Aha! Easy as pi. The cabins alternate numbers, which means if you select an odd-numbered cabin it is guaranteed to have a porthole. By the way, I wouldn't advise trying to take one of those things from him. He might not like that."
