If I have a living spaceship, the last thing I'd want is for it to get pregnant!
Just imagine the whining when you can't find the right type of solar wind or interstellar hydrogen to feed it. Not to mention the mood swings - you do not want mood swings from something which can potentially destroy planets. And if it can't destroy planets, its not a proper living ship.
