Hope was something that fueled Jett as he continued on through the shadowed paths of this God-awful forest. The trees were on the verge of spreading apart, which meant that an exit was somewhere near, and if they were lost again, so be it. They would go to Littleroot to get the Pokedex and a map.

The trainer smiled as light began seeping through the tree-tops, looking eagerly for some way out of this place. They would find a new team member and train and then they would crush Roxanne--

"Wurmple!" The ferocious cry came from the trees, and Jett paused, looking up. What was going on? There was nothing but a projectile worm flying directly for his innocent skull--

Whoa, whoa, what?

"What the he--"

BAM! A direct hit! The Wurmple landed, glaring angrily at the surprised boy before repeating its name with a curious fierceness.

"Wurmple! Wurmple! Wurmple!" it screamed at Jett, glaring at him with an unexcused malevolence. When the male did not respond to the angry insect, it began to prepare itself for another Tackle attack.

"H-hey!" Jett was caught off-guard by the Wurmple, and by the look in its eyes, he could tell it wasn't going away. "...Fine! River, come on out." He tossed River's Pokeball into the air, releasing the Feeling Pokemon who was immediately bombarded by the intense rage. This was one serious Wurmple.

River stared back at Jett with a quizzical tilt of her head, and Jett merely grinned as the Wurmple growled and began to inch forward.

"River, meet our new team-mate."

"Capturing our first Pokemon together! Let's go, River!" Jett was eager. He was excited, for sure, because a Wurmple this angry could make quite the useful battle partner.

The Wurmple let out one final cry before launching itself at the Ralts, who leapt out of the way and slid on the dirt ground. She glared at the Worm Pokemon and ran at it, meeting its second Tackle attempt head-on.

"Nice, River!" the trainer cried, watching the two nearing each other. "All right, Confusion!" River fired off a telekinetic blast right as the Wurmple leapt, sending it tumbling back.

"Wurmple!" it replied angrily, getting back up. And once more, the Wurmple attempted a Tackle, only to find that the strange, white Pokemon was gone. "Wurmple?"

"Go," Jett's clear voice hissed in the darkness, and something the worm's tail. It wriggled, trying to get free, but there was a triumphant cry as it was sent flying, directly into a tree. "Sorry, little buddy. But I can't trust you to be caught without a fight."

"W-wurm... ple...!" Wurmple's head abruptly shot up, firing out a barrage of violet needles at the foe Ralts. River let out a shocked cry, trying her best to dodge the attack, but quite a few needles found their way into her arm and side.

"River!" A hand supported the swaying Feeling Pokemon, and Jett stepped forward, enlarging a Pokeball. "Don't worry. I think we weakened it quite a bit. I'll take it from here." The Wurmple reared up for another attack, but the trainer wouldn't have it. He hurled the Pokeball at the Pokemon, waiting to see the results of their effort as the small object began to twitch and turn on the ground.

Kya spoke up again. "Sam, I think it would be better if you went to Azalea. Remember, Falkner's moves will be super-effective against Miles, and Star's Ground-type moves will miss. At Azalea, the worst that can happen is Bugsy has a Grass-type move to hurt Star..." Sam looked at Kya.

"Oh...er...I guess you're right. I totally forgot with all the excitement. Azalea then. Yeah Riza, she was really sweet. Came to my rescue when I had a breakdown." Sam blushed a bit as Miharu giggled at her mistake. "I blame Riza, she lives in Blackthorn, so she didn't know the exact name either." She hoped she didn't sound too defensive of her mistake. She watched as Miharu gazed off into the distance, much like Kya had done a few moments earlier. 'Did everyone but me have a terrible homelife? Well I guess not necessarily terrible, but mine seems pretty damn good right now...' Sam thought of the map in her room, picturing where Cherrygrove City. It was a fairly small city, though nothing like Cianwood. Sam decided to change the subject away from home life. "So Miharu, we saw Lily and heard about your Pidgeot, but what other Pokemon do you have?"

The Pokeball wiggled. And wiggled. And it was still for a moment, before it burst open, flinging the object back to Jett's feet. The Wurmple let out another angry cry and began to creep forward, target changing.

"...So that's why we have more than one Pokeball," the boy said blankly, readying another attempt at gaining a new friend, but then the Wurmple tried another Poison Sting. The problem was that it was no longer aimed at River. "W-whoa! Don't do that!" Jett danced out of the way, avoiding the needles to the best of his knowledge. He sighed in slight relief, because being poisoned would suck. The Wurmple began to charge again, but there was a shrill cry and a white blur.

River didn't take threats to her trainer well. At all. If there was one thing that made every trace of fear in her disappear, it was something attacking Jett Forrest. Of course, that fear was only replaced with fury, but it was a change. A tiny white fist (paw?) pounded into the Wurmple's cheek, setting it off balance. There was a final cry before River released a Confusion upon the fallen Wurmple, sending it rolling over. Multiple times.

"...Wurm..." the Wurmple said, disoriented. It rose once more, only to tumble over. With a satisfied huff, River returned to Jett's side and patted the next available Pokeball happily. Her job was done.

"...Thanks," he said hesitantly, making a mental note of never to piss River off. And then he tossed the Pokeball, knocking the Wurmple right on the skull. "...Sorry!"

Again, with the rhythmic twitching of the Pokeball. There was another moment of stillness, and there was a deep clicking noise. The Wurmple was his. Jett smiled, and then paused. He turned to River.

"...I guess this is where we would have a catch-phrase or some move like fist pumping up into the air sorta thing. ...I'm not doing that." River nodded once, approving this notion. "...But yeah, we caught a Wurmple!"

Some time later, Jaden's Pidgeot touched down just outside of the Pokecenter in Blackthorn City. He thanked the large bird and recalled him before making a quick stop in order to get him healed, as he had seen a lot of flying time over the course of this day. It didn't take very long and he thanked the nurse before heading back out again, feeling quite happy to be back in his home town again though that unsettling feeling still lingered in his stomach as he made his way towards his mother's house.

Jaden could tell something was going on the moment he reached his destination, as his father's car was parked in the driveway. He hadn't even reached the stairs when the front door opened, revealing both parents. At first they both looked eager, but their faces quickly changed to expressions of disappointment. "It's good to see you too," Jaden said quietly, though neither of them heard. "Mother, Father," he said, deciding to pretend like nothing was wrong.

"Well?" asked Mr. Harding, folding his arms impatiently across his chest. His hair was jet black with silver streaks, and he was tall and wore one of his expensive Gucci suits. His horn-rimmed glasses reflected the sunlight in a somewhat intimidating manner.

"Where is she?" demanded Mrs. Harding, also dressed quite nicely. Her own jet black hair, devoid of any silver or white whatsoever, was pulled back into a neat, low rise bob at the nape of her neck. She looked just as annoyed as her ex-husband.

"Where is who?" Jaden asked, nervously adjusting his scarf as he was sure he already knew the answer.

"Your sister," retorted Mr. Harding. "You were supposed to bring her here with you."

"Oh," Jaden frowned, looking at the ground as he was ushered into the house. "You actually didn't mention that part."

"It was implied," snapped his mother, obviously annoyed. Jaden flinched a little. He took a deep breath as he entered his mother's house, not sure what Riza had done, but whatever it was, she was in major trouble for it now.

"Now, Kord, you're going to try an attack! Show me your Swift!" Katie called. She watched with pride as her adorable little Elekid jumped to his feet, sparks crackling from his prongs. The lightning bolt mark on his tummy flashed a few times, and as he jumped up, a spray of sparkling golden stars were sent spiraling towards Seraphim. His aim was quite off, but luckily Swift never missed and it quickly turned and homed in on the Roselia. Seraph considered attempting to deflect them with Poison Sting, as it would have been easy to do, but she decided to take it, and instead crossed her arms in front of her to help lessen the damage. It definitely hurt and she could tell that little Kord was getting strong, and fast.

"Try one of your new moves now," Katie then called, realizing she hadn't had a chance to try them out as of yet. The Thorn Pokemon nodded and looked back at the Elekid. She paused for a moment of thought before thrusting her blue rose forward. A shadowy energy formed at the center and with a grunt she pushed it forward. The Shadow Ball grew larger as it sped closer and closer to Kord, who watched it with a gaping mouth and wide eyes, only to be smacked in the stomach and sent tumbling over backward several times.

Miharu could only blink as Kya pointed out all the potential problems Sam's team could encounter. "Way to look on the bright side," she mumbled, looking back at the ground as they walked. "Besides, if Sam can beat Falkner, he'll give her a TM for Aerial Ace. It's a flying move and it never misses, and it will make short work of Bugsy's Pokemon, trust me." She stopped then, a bit embarrassed by her sudden little outburst. "I'm sure you'll be just fine," she said quietly, tucking a lock of greenish hair behind her ear. "with whichever which gym you choose to start with." She walked in silence then, only half-listening as Sam mentioned Riza again. The name didn't seem familiar to her at all, but a part of her did want to meet this girl. After all, Keegan wasn't the easiest of people to get along with, and anyone who could manage to bypass the walls he'd built up was definitely worth meeting.

"My other Pokemon?" she asked, a little bit surprised by the question, but then she realized it made sense, considering their topic of discussion. "Oh, uh, well I also have a Metang, a Starmie, a Flaaffy and a Ponyta," she said, tapping each PokeBall on her belt in succession as she listed them off. "I also have a Pinsir," she added, smiling a bit at the thought of her good-natured bug type. "What about you guys? What Pokemon do you have?" It seemed like a logical question to ask, seeing as they'd been discussing Sam's upcoming gym battles. That, and there was the possibility of added insight as to which gym she should attempt first.

Kya looked at Miharu. "Oh, I never thought of it that way. You're right Miharu, there is more then type advantages." Sam stared at the ground, slightly amazed. How did Kya not get angry with Miharu after her outburst? Sam knew she would have been at the very least irritated with Miharu snapping at her. Then again, Kya was very sociable, and so probably knew how to keep her cool. Sam thought of each Pokemon's image as Miharu named them off, though she had no idea what a Metang was. It sounded only vaguely familiar, probably something her parents had said. She was so intent on remembering what a Metang was that she at first missed Miharu's question, so Kya piped up. "I have a Gible, a Shuckle, and a little baby Aipom. All are pretty young still, about the same level as Sam's pokemon." Kya looked pointedly at Sam, who finally realized she was being asked a question.

"Oh, er, I have a Marshtomp, a Mankey, and a baby Murkrow. That's why I'm debating. My Mankey will be weak at Falkner's Gym, and my Marshtomp won't be able to use her Ground moves. But since Marshtomps are doubly weak to Grass moves, I'm hesitant to go to a Bug type gym, since it's almost a given he'll have Grass types. Whatcha think?"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:12 am

Like Sam had done, Miharu tried to picture all the Pokemon the two girls named off for her, though the only one she didn't know was Gible, and she only knew what a Marshtomp was due to the fact that she'd battled one earlier in the day. "Bugsy used a Scyther against me in our match," she said, thinking back to her gym battle in Azalea Town. "It was the toughest to beat, but it didn't have any grass moves at that point, though that was a while ago. You could always get a TM or two, too," she went on. "Having a few additional moves in your Pokemons' repertoires might be what you need to gain the upper hand, especially if they're moves that are strong against your opponent's preferred type."

Miharu decided to stop there, as she was sure she'd given Sam and Kya a lot to think about. After all, she'd used quite a few TMs on her own Pokemon by this point, and it had definitely been a big help, especially with her Starmie and its somewhat limited level-up moves.

It didn't take long for Jaeshan to reach Saffron City, and before long he'd made it to the Pokemon Center where he waited in line impatiently for his turn to come up. When it did, he handed over every one of his Pokemon for treatment, as he had no idea when he would next see a center (though he strongly suspected that if something happened, his parents would make sure they made it to one PDQ). He cheerfully thanked the nurse as his team was returned to him and ran back outside, already back on his bike and heading for the southern Saffron gate. He wasn't overly familiar with this city though it was easy enough to make his way south what with all the signs and whatnot.

This scenery, however, was starting to become familiar as he passed through the gate and down onto Route 6. It was a long, winding path through a massive grassy field, and off in the distance he could see two trainers engaged in a battle. One was using what looked to be a Pidgeotto (though it was hard to tell at this distance), but she couldn't tell what the other was, as it was obscured by the grass. A jet of flames rocketed up towards the bird just then, and Jaeshan could only assume that it was a Fire-type, or at least a Pokemon with the ability to learn Flamethrower. He smiled at this, recalling just how powerful Shelgon's Flamethrower had been. He was quite glad he'd taught her that move, as it added a bit of variety to her move pool.

As he continued south, Jaeshan knew he was getting closer to Vermilion as the salty tang of the sea air hit his senses. He smiled again as he remembered his battle with Lieutenant Surge: a once tiny Bagon fearlessly taking on Surge's Magnemite and winning; Weepinbell's comically wide eyes as an Electrode self-destructed inside his mouth; and finally Mightyena's confident snarl as he delivered the finishing Tackle to Surge's Raichu. It had been one heck of a match, and he fully intended to return to Surge's gym one day for a rematch. That would have to wait though, as he passed into the city limits, and he could see the ocean sparkling in the horizon. He wore a wide, happy smile as he made his way to the pier, excited for this little vacation. It had been a while since he and his parents had gone on a cruise, and he was also glad to be spending time with them again.

"A Scyther huh? Hm...Now what are those weak to?" Sam wondered aloud. Kya spoke up.

"Lots of things actually, Flying, Fire, Electric, Rock, Ice-"

"Wait back up, did you say Rock?"

"Yeah, actually, Scyther is doubly weak to Rock. Why?"

"TMs! Miharu, you're right!" Sam suddenly turned around and around, looking vaguely like a dog chasing its tail, trying to grab her pack. Once she grabbed hold of it, she dumped it out, her money, pokeballs, berries, and bike tumbling out. She shifted through, making sure to pocket her Pewter Badge that had fallen out before she remembered she had put it in a safe pocket. She unzipped it, and retrieved the TM she had won from Brock. "It's Rock Tomb!" Sam said excitedly, holding it up. It was still intact luckily. She stood, and shoved everything back into her bag, but being careful to not break the fragile disc. She hoped Kya and Miharu would stop for just a moment. She quickly grabbed two Pokeballs from her belt. "I remember talking to Orion about this, both Miles and Star can learn Rock Tomb! That'd be perfect!" She pressed the release buttons on both, allowing the Marshtomp and the Mankey to burst forth in white light. They stood quietly for once, Star with her fins crossed, and Miles looking all around, eyeing Miharu for awhile.

"Sam...Remember you can only use a TM once..." Kya said warningly. Sam's excited expression disappeared.

"Oh...I forgot. Well now what? Do I use it on the more powerful Pokemon," she said, indicating Star, who puffed up her chest proudly, "or do I use it on the Pokemon who isn't weak to Grass?"

"Well don't forget, Miles is weak to Flying, which IS one of Scyther's types. And, if I remember correctly, Scyther is resistant to Fighting. So most of Miles' moves wouldn't do anything. Star at least has Bite and Water Gun right? Then again, her Ground moves are going to miss here...I guess it's really up to you." Sam turned back to her Pokemon, both looking at her expectantly. She weighed her options, and once she reached her decision, she acted quickly before her indecisiveness could change it.

"Maelogan, come here." Her Mankey hopped forward, smirking back at Star, who stared openmouthed. How could her Trainer treat him so specially? Sam watched Miles' face then glanced to Star. She mouthed to her 'Hey, I'll make it up to you.' She knew Goldenrod had a huge department store, maybe she could get another TM for Star. Star simply turned away, unconvinced and hurt. She stuck her nose in the air. Sam sighed, and looked back at Miles. She lifted up the disc. "Maelogan, stay still for a moment." She hesitated for just a second, then placed the disc on his head. It, and Miles, glowed briefly, then it disappeared. Sam watched as the disc broke cleanly in half, dull and gray now. She put the disc halves back in her bag. "We'll test it out later, okay?" Miles nodded, feeling honored. At the same time, he wondered how he could rub this in Star's face later. Satisfied, Sam stood, and recalled both Star and Miles in a flash of red light. She turned to Kya and Miharu. "Let's keep going!" she said brightly. She smiled happily. "Thanks so much for the advice guys. I think I would have lost pretty quickly if I hadn't thought this through properly." Sam skipped on ahead.

"So Wurmple can evolve in two ways," Jett murmured, continuing towards that beautiful exit. "I'm pretty sure, anyways... And I think they both go to some Bug/Flying type... That'd be bad against Roxanne, but this one can surprise anyone..."

There was a moment in which Jett Forrest emerged from the Petalburg Woods and simply basked in the bright, bright sunlight. He sighed happily, and opened his eyes. Before him laid a house, and to his right was a fairly short dirt path leading to a bridge leading to--

Rustboro City.

"We made it," the boy sighed happily, before turning and continuing down the dirt path. He spared a glance toward another boy clad in darker clothing with purple hair. There was a small smile offered, but Jett wanted to get to a PokeCenter before he did anything else. Maybe they'd meet up in Rustboro.

Jett merely thought up half-hearted strategies as he strolled along the dirt path, mostly cheerful for the fact that he was rid of that awful forest. He could've sworn he saw grass behind that house, so he could just as easily train back there and not get lost. There was a cheery grin tugging at his lips as he arrived at the wooden bridge.

They were there.

Miharu stepped back a bit, grinning as her suggestion had triggered an idea for Sam. She hadn't known that Brock gave Rock Tomb TMs to the challengers that defeated him, and she watched with a bit of amusement as Sam released her Marshtomp and Mankey in order to decide which of them got the move. When she chose the ape Pokemon, she couldn't help but notice the venomous look Star shot her trainer, and Miharu covered her mouth to keep from giggling. "I think Marshtomp can learn Ice Beam," she suggested, watching as the Mankey eagerly rubbed in the fact that he got a new move and Star didn't. "Ice type moves would be helpful against Bugsy's Scyther, and Falkner's flying Pokemon as well."

Miharu felt a surge of happiness as well, partially because she'd managed to help Sam with her upcoming gym battle(s), and also because of the fact that she was enjoying the company of having someone else around, and the prospect of making an actual friend was somewhat exciting. "Won't be long there," she chimed in as Goldenrod City was upon them.

Sam grinned hugely. "Ice Beam? Cool! I dunno, I'll have to check out the whole inventory! But an Ice move does sound like a great idea! We'd be unstoppable." Kya nodded in agreement, also happy that she had been helpful. She was surprised by how well they were all getting along. Some people found her personality annoyingly upbeat, and Sam had said herself that she was antisocial. Kya looked to the sky and at the looming city line. She could now easily make out the Radio Tower. Suddenly, she wasn't worried one bit about what her parents would think.

"Let's go!" she cried, as she sped on ahead, truly excited to be home again. Sam struggled to catch up with her.

"Come on Miharu!" Sam called back to her, surpressing a giggle as she realized how much like a 5 year old she was acting.

"Well, I guess that I certainly have quite a large amount of explaining to do," Sabrina confessed to the group, at the onslaught of confusion in regards to her presence. Before she began making her speech, however, she looked to a now unconscious Kasiya; I'll just telepathically convey this information to her as I tell the others, she thought. It'll come across as being dreamlike, but she'll still be able to recall the information. The girl took a breath.

"Where do I begin?" she asked. "I guess it should be from what was last heard of me. Some time ago, Nina and I, along with Lance, infiltrated the Rocket's base in Mahogany Town. We put an end to their activity, and Lance had left immediately afterward. As Nina and I were leaving, however, a Rocket member that had been knocked unconscious by Nina had come to, and he was rather irate. He pulled a gun and shot it; however, I shoved Nina out of the way and was the one who was hit instead. I was very badly injured, but I survived the attack. To protect my sister, I instilled the idea in her mind that I had died from the attack. I wanted her to escape, in case there were any other Rockets still lingering about with malice on their minds. It was from there that the news of my supposed death had spread through the regions, but its greatest impact was in Kanto and Johto."

"However, this much you already know. What you do not know is what happened from that point on. After Nina had escaped, I realized just how badly I was injured. I mustered up every ounce of my remaining strength-- which, truthfully, was not very much. I managed to make it to the Pokemon Center in the town, and was subsequently taken to the hospital in Goldenrod. I am uncertain as to just how long I was admitted, but I made a full recovery. I was told that, had I lost an ounce more blood by the time I arrived, I would have died, so I am very fortunate to have survived. When I was able to leave, I had heard rumblings that Nina had essentially been brainwashed by Maorde, and was now working with him. I cannot convey the emotions that this created inside of me; the only thing I knew that I wanted was revenge on that man. And I sought out to exact it."

"By emitting powerful psychic energies, I was able to cause the people around me to view me as being a physically different person. They did not see me as Sabrina, the purple-haired psychic from Saffron City; rather, I was now Vanessa, an intelligent brunette that hailed from an unspecified town in Johto. This disguise was necessary, as if my true identity were to be revealed, my cover would be blown, not to mention the extreme confusion that would ensue. It took a bit of adjusting, but I became my moniker and did my best to erase the name of Sabrina from my being. I was Vanessa now, and would only respond to Vanessa until I was ready. After adjusting to my new identity, I enacted a large amount of detective work, and eventually was able to track down Maorde. He was in the process of training five twentysomething female proteges when I came across him; due to his very busy schedule of attempting domination over all humans and Pokemon, he wasn't able to commit to training the girls as much as he wanted. He was looking for someone to train them in his stead, and I volunteered my services. In training those girls, I became fast friends with most of them, and as a result, gained their trust; they told me about Maorde, and things such as his plans of future attacks and his battle strategies. The only girl whose trust I was never able to secure was one named Phoenix. While I would still continue to train her along with the other girls, Phoenix always felt that something was off about me, that I was not who I seemed. To be honest, I never trusted that woman, either. She was much more talented than the other four girls, and far too powerful for simply being one of Maorde's proteges."

"Eventually, Phoenix's suspicions of me grew too strong, and she reported to Maorde. She told him an intricate story of how I was deceiving him and that I had ulterior motives. For simply being a tale that she fabricated, it was entirely accurate. Maorde confronted me about it, and while I denied it, eventually I took my leave from the group. I believed I understood Maorde enough to launch an attack upon him. However, I would not be able to do it alone; I required the help of not only Nina, but Whitney as well. To receive their help, however, meant revealing my true identity to them. After much deliberation and preparation, I revealed myself to Nina first, explaining to her what I had gone through and why I had done what I did. I essentially did the same thing when we came across Whitney."

"It was perhaps a week after reuniting with those two that we were attacked by Maorde. We were prepared, however; they were to entice him into a battle and buy time for me. I was concentrating every facet of my psychic power as they battled one another, and the girls lasted for as long as they could. After a successful win against him, I was finally able to unleash the revenge that I had desired for such a long time, and simulatenously keep the world safe."

Sabrina approached Nina, unzipping her backpack and taking out the doll of Maorde; she showed it to the crowd. "This is how he will remain until the end of time. I am the only person in this world who is able to turn him back into human form, but I can assure you all that that will never happen." She returned the doll to Nina's backpack. "Maorde's Pokemon had returned to their Pokeballs at the end of the fight, which means that they became dolls along with him. However, those six Pokemon are incredibly strong, and are allies that we can make use of, should it become necessary." Her gaze then turned to Blaine, as he beckoned for her; the girl took a very deep breath. "And that's the size of things," she said, quite simply.

She approached her fellow Gym Leader, pulling him off to the side; she decided that it would be best to give everyone time to process the amount of information she had bestowed upon them as she spoke with the Fire-type Trainer. "Yes, Blaine? What is it?"
