(( Sure, welcome aboard. Long story short, it's the Battle of Sullust, just a hair before RotJ 3nodding ))
"Welcome, Topaz Squad!" Zendia said over the comm. "Em Leader here," she declared, executing a starboard dive, a TIE sailing into her sights. A squeeze of her trigger later, the TIE was no longer there anymore, reduced to scrap by her cannons. "Plenty of TIEs for everyone - have at it!"

Nathar gunned the engine of the X-wing, moving into position to fight. Pulling hard on the trigger he sent his first shots into the battle. With luck, one nicked a TIE fighter.
He pulled to the side as he hit the main branh of them, firing his guns as fast as he could. Already he was feeling the rush of flying and the joy of battle.

"I'm going to go see how well their targeting computers work on that Tartan," Orrin said, blasting the last of a four-squad of interceptors. "Com channels are not being jammed, they're calling for reinforcements. Two more sets coming our way."
He did a quick tally of the numbers. Four squadrons times twelve pilots equals fourty-eight craft, of which he counted only perhaps ten down from the fight that he kept track of, with twenty four mmore craft on their way. Numerically speaking, this was not good.
He forced the engines to fly their max, through the green blasterfire of the first inbound set of TIEs. Two interceptors followed in pursuit, as suddenly everywhere around the cockpit was green.
"They've locked onto me, let's see what they do," Orrin muttered, as the Tartan's fire drew closer to the ship, just turning ever so slightly to just burn the shields.

"Think nothing of it, Zee, I just happened to be in the neighborhood." He flew to Orrin and swung away, trying to bring some of the interceptors off ofhis wing leader. "You nuts, man?"

Seeing Orrin's A-wing headed through a veritable nest of enemy fighters, Owen wheeled around in an attempt to get some weight off the older man's tail. As he destroyed an interceptor with a well aimed round of cannon fire, out of nowhere, struck his upper left wing, almost sending him into a spin. Luckily, he managed to avoid such an occurrence, and after he righted himself, he leapt right back into the fray.

Azure fired again hitting one of the TIES in the wing, it veered off course and hit one it's squadmates exploding. Another TIE came straight at her fireing away. She turned to port and did a barrel roll avoiding the green laser fire. "That was a close one." she said to herself.

"Cut the chatter. Just focus on getting rid of those squadrons. These babys were built to pull off extreme stunts, why not use them for their full strength?" Orrin asked, as he swiveled the guns on the A-wing straight back, and went into a death roll. The interceptor pilots scrambled to suddenly move out of the way of the red blasts, only to run into the Tartan's own anti-fighter cover.
Orrin, however, had to suddenly find out how to miss more and more accurate shots as he grew closer to the cruiser. Diverting as much power from sensors to the engines as he physically could, he flew up, and juked down under the belly of the cruiser, strafing along the underside, doing little damage.
"I'll keep this banta fodder amused for a little while. In the meantime, take the fighter coverage down. Save your ammunition, we'll have a flight of B-wings here in about half an hour. They'll need as clear of skies as they can get."

Zendia gave a slight nod, hearing the news of the flight of the newly built B-wings. "Then, let's give them those clear skies, then," she replied, lighting up the TIE just ahead of her to port, which exploded in a beautiful display of fire.
True, an X-wing didn't quite have the legs an A-wing did, or it's Imperial counterpart, the Interceptor. Even so, it certainly was tough. And versatile. And, Zendia was about to prove an old adage she'd once heard.
And, the little R5 unit "driving in the back seat" was further proof of said adage, as Rusty gave all he could to the X-wing's engines.
"Good deal, Rusty," Zendia said, driving the craft towards a pair of squints. There was little doubt that the men and women behind them were the best the Empire had to offer, their cannons flaring in response.
Zendia had her own response, with a semi-barrell roll to port, evading the green fire. "We're going to have to do this quick, Rusty dear," she said, her thumb on the yoke's trigger, and poised to make a sharp turn.
The two squints soared past Zendia. Just as I thought! she took but a short moment to muse, spinning her own craft about, peppering the pair with crimson thunder.
"It's not the equipment, it's the driver," Zendia said as the two squints were vaporized.

Gendis grunted in response to Orrin and peeled off, drawing most of the squints off his tail and sending them into a spiral as they tried to hit his limber craft. His shields were nearly nonexistent, but his engines were maxed, and for all of their training, the pilots could barely get a bead on Gendis. If they did, it didn't last long enough for a well-placed shot.
When Gendis was far enough away from Orrin, he turned sharply to port, his cannons rotating up to fire at his persuers. A few exploded, breaking the formation of squints.

((Welcome aboard Dooms Day))
Azure quickly straightened the fighter and fired at the first TIE she saw. It exploded into a fireball and she flew through the wreckage emerging on the other side. She fired again at two TIES that were flying towards her and they also exploded in a fireball.

Zendia soared into the fray, as several TIEs pounced the posistion of her and her squadmates.
Thankfully, this batch were but the "eyeballs". Still, it would not do to underestimate them.
"Everyone, I have some bogeys on my four o' clock. Signature says eyeballs." she declared, beginning a turn starboard. "Yeah, rotate the shields as needed," she said in response to Rusty's beeped query.
And so, the little X-wing turned, "leaning" into it, as Zendia prepared her guns, her trigger thumb poised to fire at will, expertly guiding the ship with a steady hand on the control yoke.
It seemed that one of the eyeballs drivers was a bit of a daredevil, his craft sailing directly in front of Zendia's X-wing. Let's see who loses their nerve first! she thought, her trigger finger itching.
As the TIE came within a few feet, it turned sharply. Zendia then lit afire the eyeball's port wing with but a twitch of her thumb's muscles. "Gotcha," she said, the TIE spiraling towards it's brethen, as she sent her ship into a hard starboard turn.
"Two for the price of one," Zendia reflected, watching the two TIEs explode upon collision.

Fighting the Tartan didn't do much for either combatant. The Tartan's guns couldn't keep up with the nimble interceptor, and the A-wing just couldn't scratch the shielding. Each second passing by faster and faster, Orrin watched helplessly as the tartan moved closer to the engaugement.
"Guys, this thing isn't slowing down. Prepare to evade."

"Roger that," Zendia replied. "You heard the man. Go to evasive!" she called out to the squad in general.

Gendis groaned quietly, 'sploding another eyeball as he passed it. "If anything I've heard about those B-wings is true, we could really use some right now," he muttered, dodging green bolts of energy, any one of which would probably destroy his little craft in one shot, if it hit.

"B-wings or not, you still have to be dodgin' blasters. Let's kick up the heat doubletime. Going anywhere has got to be heaven tonight, so let's stay alive. Garnet squadron should be warping in here in about ten minutes with a pair of corvettes. Keep these guys occupied until then, we'll get a break." Orrin said, watching the counter on his mission clock. Everything was supposed to be timed, hoping to draw in more and more fighters to his position, as the A-wing kept being pushed faster and faster. Adrenaline forced Orrin into near-suicidal brushes at full throttle to plow through fighter squadrons barely missing blasterbolts.
"If I mess up once," he mused to himself as sweat began to bead on his brow.
