"I'll let you go first," Barry, master of all Bug Catchers, sneered at a wary Jett. "Feel free to give up any time!"

"Thanks," Jett sighed, staring at the Wurmple that stared at River with unusual intensity. "All right, River... Throw it, please." River blinked, staring at Jett for a moment before she rushed at the Wurmple, hands held up in front of her.

"Wurmple! Use String Shot to slow it down!" the self-proclaimed arch-nemesis of Jett Forrest called, and the Wurmple let out a fearsome little noise and shot a sticky mixture at the charging Ralts. Of course, the String Shot did its job, wrapping and clinging to the Feeling Pokemon and forcing her to trip. "Now, Tackle!" The Wurmple charged, ramming into River as she tried to get up.

"C-confusion!" Jett called, and River eagerly sent a telekinetic wave into Wurmple as she fell back. The Wurmple tumbled back, letting out an indignant chatter. It looked barely affected.

"Bug Pokemon have the advantage over Psychics!" Barry, Bug Catcher master, kindly informed his irritated foe. "And if this is all you can do, you're done for!"

He's right... Jett thought, hands balling into fists. She's still weak from that Zigzagoon fight. Taking on three Bug types isn't ideal if I want River to make it out of this forest somewhat healthy.

"Wait," he said, holding up a hand. "You win. I give up." Barry, master of all Bug Catchers, sneered knowingly and recalled his Wurmple.

"I'll see you around, Jett," the Bug Catcher grinned, calmly strolling back into the darkness. River stood there, tired and irritated, before she returned to her Pokeball solemnly. Jett stared at the Pokeball, frowning. And then he sighed.

"I'm so sorry, River."

Sam almost flinched at Lily's touch, but then relaxed, and smiled. She was still getting used to the casual touch of Pokemon, something she had hated for a very long time. She looked gratefully at Miharu. "Well if you wouldn't mind...Let's head to Goldenrod, and see Kya off. Then if you would still like, it would be a huge help if you could possibly..." she trailed off, hoping Miharu understood without feeling offended at Sam basically taking over. She had always been taught not to invite herself over and say "Thank you" a million times. Be humble and polite. Kya spoke up.

"That sounds like a good idea. You beat Chuck? That's amazing! A Pidgeot? That does sound strong. I think you would be a fool not to take Miharu up on that offer, Sam." Sam nodded dumbly.

"Uh yeah, kay thanks Kya. Let's head out." She looked back at Miharu. "You beat Chuck? That is amazing. I tried once to defeat Chuck, since I live in Cianwood, but...it didn't work out too well. I really didn't even have a Pokemon," Sam said, ashamed of her stupidity. Sam started to walk towards the exit, towards Goldenrod City, hoping Kya and Miharu would follow, and not run away from her.

Jomei frowned at the release of his sister's Tentacool. It was a Water Type, which meant he probably shouldn't use Pizza against it anyway. He rubbed the top of his head and then adjusted his headband. He'd have to use that thing. The boy observed his new Pokemon, a look of disdain covered his face. It was apparently a Water Type as well. The Shellos returned its trainer's gaze, it wore a gaping mouth and a blank expression. Jomei sighed. He didn't even know what moves the slug knew. The Pokedex had been completely useless and contained no information on the blue Shellos. "Ok," Jomei turned to face his twin. "I'm going to use Shel- urr, Reginold."

Upon hearing its name called, the Shellos propelled itself in front of its trainer. It then proceeded to conjure a sound that Jomei could only describe as someone gargling dead fish in their mouth, then spitting the slimy creatures out. He held his stomach and tried to remove the imagery from his mind.

"Alright Nereus! Start off with Supersonic!" Junko yelled, pointing dramatically to the area they had designated as the battle field.

Nereus perked up instantly at the sound of her voice and began to emit colorful waves from the red bulbs on its head to confuse the opponent. Once it was done with its attack, the jellyfish looked over to Junko for attention and approval. The girl smiled at her Tentacool and returned her gaze to the Shellos to see if it had been affected.

Reginold's vision became blurred as it could feel its eyes rolling around in its head. The slug tried to shake the dizziness off but to no avail. It teetered back and forth, only its slimy excretion keeping it from falling over.

"Damn..." Jomei muttered under his breath. I hate moves that confuse. He clenched his fist. At least when they're used against me.

'This is the worst sport ever! I can't believe people do this for fun!' Robin groaned inwardly, she would have done it out loud to if she wasn't gasping for air so much. Really this was awful! Robin's legs burned and her lungs could not seem to draw enough oxygen into her body, she also might have been crying but that was kinda hard to tell with all the sweat running down her face. Glancing around Robin glared at her energetic pokemon around her, they had so much energy! Then again they did a lot more work then she did, it really was only fair, she was was going to ask them to work hard then she had to work hard to! With her new resolve in her mind Robin felt her second wind start up as she started to pick up her pace. "Come on Brook we can't let them show us up! We gotta work hard to!"

~~~~~~~~
As always the Faint Attack hit but Xannon managed to Harden just in time to lesson some of the damage that would have been done. Still the attack hurt and while the doll couldn't really give any outward signs Dante could still sorta tell that it had hurt a lot. Maybe it was time they took the offensive, Dante was really a more wait and see battler but maybe it was time to start taking the offensive more? "Xannon don't wait for them to recover hit them with your Ancient Power." The ancient doll pokemon gave no indication that it had heard Dante other then the fact that a moment later a bunch of rocks were floating in the air.
"Those rocks look like they could hurt. Delcatty how about you use that TM I just got you!" The cat pokemon seemed to agree with that idea and just as the Ancient Power was about to hit her a green protective bubble surrounded her causing the rocks to fall to the side harmlessly. "Ha! How did you like that?"
"Actually that wasn't to bad." Dante grinned slightly as he watched Xannon glow as his stats were raised. He got kinda lucky that time, it was rare when Ancient Power decided to grace them with boosted abilities. "How about we try your Ice Beam this time." If they were going to use their TM's then why couldn't he? Not missing a beat the clay doll pokemon fired off a single icy blast as the green shell faded away.
There wasn't really any chance to dodge and the Delcatty was hit hard with the Ice Beam. Still it didn't look like it was down for the count though. "Hit it with your Faint Attack again!" While her Delcatty did look really pretty with all the ice crystals in her fur it really couldn't have been good for her health. The Delcatty nodded and disappeared in another wave of darkness only to appear to Xannon's left this time and smash right into the Baltoy knocking it down for a moment.
Miharu couldn't help but giggle a bit at the interaction between Sam and Kya, as it seemed as though they got along quite well. She couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of jealousy though, as she never really had made any friends growing up. The only other kids she'd known that were even close to her age were her cousin, Keegan, and his two best friends, but she'd never really known their opinion of her, other than she was his cousin and always wanted to tag along with the trio. "It really isn't a problem," Miharu said again once she'd snapped out of her little daydream, and she started following after Sam as she'd started heading for Goldenrod, listening quietly to Sam as she mentioned her first failed gym attempt. "That sounds rough," she admitted, thinking back to her own gym battles. They'd all been difficult and challenging, but she'd managed to prevail, even if just slightly in a few cases. "I bet you'll be able to beat him someday," she offered. "Have you challenged any other gyms since then?" She hoped she didn't seem like she was prying, but she figured that a bit of chitchat would help make the walk seem a little quicker.
"Reginold! Do um, something?" Jomei shouted with uncertainty. Not knowing any of his Pokemon's moves was a bit of a hindrance. He hoped that the slug would hopefully at least know useful.
"Something?" Junko scoffed from across the way.
"Shut up! I don't know what it's moves are!" He bellowed back.
"You're a crappy trainer." She laughed.
"No I'm not! You're mean!"
Ignoring the two siblings' back and forth banter the Shellos' confusion seemed to subside long enough for it to make an attack. The slug's eyes began to glow in a vibrant shade of blue and the Pokemon opened its gaping mouth to form a ball of sparkling water. The water sphere hovered in front of its mouth for a second before being shot out at the opposing Tentacool. The attack connected with a loud smack, sounding as if someone had just done a belly flop in a pool. Once finished with its attack Reginold continued with its swaying, still feeling the effects of confusion that the jellyfish had inflicted on him.
Junko didn't seem too worried by the strike. Using a Water move against a Water type wouldn't accomplish much, seeing as how it was resistant to it. Still feeling confident the girl ordered the next attack. "Nereus, use Poison Sting." she said coolly. The Tentacool didn't have much of an arsenal at this point so the girl would have to make due. She hoped that lady luck would smile upon her and the Shellos would have to deal with being poisoned.
Lady Luck however, seemed to only grimace in their direction as the poor Tentacool's tentacles seemed to mesh together as it tried to advance across the battlefield. With its limbs tied in a knot, Nereus' squishy head met with the hard ground, a small cloud of dust rose up from the collision. The Water Pokemon rolled itself over and tried desperately to unravel its feelers.
Junko watched in horror as her Pokemon convulsed on ground in front of her. "Wha?" she uttered in shock. It's confused? Then that attack was...
"Hah!" Jomei rang out, interrupting his sister's thought process. "Looks like the tables have turned!" he cheered, throughly fearless now. "Reginold! Whatever that attack just was, do it again!" Not knowing what else the Pokemon was capable of it was the safest thing to stick with.
Jett was thankful for the fifth time that his mother had packed some food for him and River. The two sat in a small clearing, happily eating their respectful snacks, and then they simpy sat in silence for a while.
"Okay," he finally began after clearing his throat, "here's the game plan. I don't know how many more battles we could really take at this point, so I think we should get to Rustboro as fast as possible, heal up, and come back. There's a route connecting this place to Rustboro, so I'm sure we can catch a new member and train there." There was a small pause in which Jett caught his breath, before he continued on, "I dunno about you, but I wanna get out of this forest A.S.A.P. What do you think?"
River sat in contemplation for a minute or so, before she let out a small, eager growl and nodded her head. She was growing sick of being scared and being lost. And she was growing more tired with each passing second. At the thought of her fatigue, the Feeling Pokemon yawned.
"All right," the trainer smiled gently, recalling his Pokemon. "You rest for a while. You're doing great." His eyes shot to the trail leading out of the clearing. "Now, let's get out of here."
"Er yeah actually, I battled Brock in Pewter City. I won too, I was really excited. But I think it was because I had the type advantage more then anything else. My battling skills aren't exactly up to par yet," Sam said, hoping she didn't sound too self-deprecating and so would sound like she was only being humble as an act and she really though she was superior. She bit back a sigh as she realized how convoluted her thinking was. She heard her phone beep, and she pulled it out to check her Twitter updates. "Hey...Miharu, you're Keegan's cousin?" she murmured, while she replied with as much. "Yeah I met Keegan at the Breeder's Gala. He was nice, but he kinda had a fight with Kasiya...I think. I met Kasiya once at Professor Oak's and this girl sort of looked like her. Like I said, drama."
Kya followed along, excited about finally going home. She had enjoyed her time exploring, but she thought it was time to check in with her family. They were bound to be a little concerned...shouldn't they be? Kya thought about the day she had left, the joy on her parent's face. Had they been happy to have been rid of her? She shook the thought away. Utterly ridiculous. Still, her eyes dimmed a little as she thought of her forced departure.
Miharu smiled a bit. "Type advantage is important," she nodded, not sure if Sam was giving herself enough credit. "I know it saved us on more than one occasion." She checked her own phone as it emitted a beep, and she muttered something angrily before snapping it shut and jamming it back into her bag. "Yeah, we're cousins, but it's not something I feel like bragging about. And he's only nice if you're a Pokemon," she added. She didn't know who this Kasiya person was, or why Keegan would be fighting with her, and she wasn't sure she cared. It wasn't like he made time to update her with what was going on in his life. She glanced back at Kya, who'd suddenly become quite subdued, and Miharu wondered if she should ask. Deciding it couldn't hurt, she turned to the other girl. "You're suddenly quiet," she said, sounding like a casual observer. "Everything all right?"
"That's why I'm heading to Violet. The typing is slightly better there, plus it is the first gym. Gotta be a little easier right?" Sam nodded, smiling. "Yeah, that does sound like Keegan. Though I only met him the one time, he didn't seem like the nicest person. Or the most sociable. He was polite enough to grab us drinks, but that may have been because Riza told him to be nice...I don't really know." She turned back to Kya, also noticing her sudden quietness. "Hey, I'm supposed to be the quiet one, what gives?" Sam asked, hoping to stay upbeat and casual. Kya quickly looked up, the warmth and spirit returning to her eyes.
"Yeah, of course! Sorry about that, I guess I was just thinking about my old home life. It wasn't really my choice to become a Trainer, but I've come to enjoy it anyways...Still...Getting forced into something is never fun you know?" Kya glanced towards the big city in front of her. "But that's all in the past now. My parents knew what was good for me, and I'm glad they did what they did. It was just a little awkward and upsetting at the time." Sam tilted her head.
"Weird..." she muttered, not meaning to offend her, just voicing her opinion without thinking. "But you okay now?" Kya smiled genuinely towards Miharu and Sam.
"Of course! I never let anything bother me for too long! Que sera sera." Sam giggled.
"I know that song!" She looked to Miharu. "Hey Miharu, I don't think I heard, where do you live? I know Keegan lives in Hoenn, Lavaville or something, but you seem like you spend alot of time here in Johto. Staying close to home?"
Mikallen
PostPosted: Mon Jul 05, 2010 9:13 pm
Sasha, in her hysterical state, took a little longer to make her way down than the other two. She was in such a hurry that when she finally did hop down, she slipped and fell. Luckily she caught herself, but being the wonderfully heat-retaining mineral that it was, the floor was hot; very hot. "Ow!" she yelped, cursing. Luckily, you were still lady-like if those around you couldn't understand your swears. Sasha quickly pushed herself up and continued on, but by then Kasiya and Mitsu had already made their way over.
Mike flinched when Kasiya suddenly stopped before him. He wasn't sure what she was going to do. Worse, he wasn't sure what he was going to do. When Nina showed up he blacked out and felt like a truck had run him over. "Uh, hi." he said weakly, returning the wave. He opened his mouth to say something, but then saw Kasiya turn and notice Sabrina. He had completely forgotten that her being alive was somewhat new information.
He laughed nervously. "Look, I just found out like, thirty minutes ago so don't think I withheld this from you-" his defensive smile quickly changed when he saw Kasiya's eyes begin to flutter. He was all too familiar with that sign. She was about to pass out! "Kasiya!" he yelled, hoping to snap her out of it. No use. Her legs gave out, and Mike couldn't react in time. His heart sank as he could only watch as his friend fell to the floor.
With a scream fueled by confusion, anger, sadness, and determination, Sasha threw herself forward and caught Kasiya before her tender, sweet head met the rocky floor. "Kasiya!" she cried. "Êtes-vous d'accord? Réveillez-vous!"
Mike began to move forward to help, but instead came face to face with Mitsu. She looked at him with eyes filled with more compassion and sadness than he'd ever seen. He once again opened his mouth to speak but was cut off when she raced towards him and damn near squeezed his ribcage shut. He slowly placed his arms around her, returning the gesture. He made sure to be very gentle, and not hold her too tightly. After all, hugging an oven was probably not high on his friend's to-do list. Her face buried into his chest, her soft skin marred only by the tears the stung his body with a painful sizzle. Mike winced in pain, squeezing the girl's sides slightly before letting go. It was short and slightly painful, but it was one of the most comforting things he had experienced in this past week.
"You're hurt, Mike." Mitsu choked out, her voice just as soft and sweet as he remembered.
"Tell me something I don't know." he said with a laugh. "Blood has become my new makeup it seems. It's strangely comforting. It's when I wake up without blood on me that there is cause for alarm." It was a terrible attempt at humor, but there was some twisted truth to it. Mike's laughter was cut short when Mitsu's hands began to glow a bright green. The boy gasped, his eyes widening in fear. "W-what is going on?" he said, taking a step back. "What are you doing Mitsu?" he wasn't sure if he was seeing things or not, but as far as he knew, Mitsu couldn't make glowsticks out of her hands. Mike recoiled as she drew her hands closer to his body, and let out a small cry when her fingers touched one of his many open wounds. He opened his eyes when the stinging sensation was replaced by a cool, soothing feeling.
"Mitsu," Sasha said as she looked on in confusion. "What in z'he world are you doing?"
"I too, would like an explanation." Mike said, still holding his arms near his face. Mitsu said nothing in reply, but continued to move her hands across the boy's body, then to his face. Her glance moved upward, and the focused stare she gave him was somewhat unsettling. It was strange seeing Mitsu like this; in control and determined. Mike could only look on in silence as she used her strange aura to heal him up. It felt like when he woke up after Napalm had used his flames to fix him up after he found out the hard way that he and water were no longer compatible.
"You're damn right I'm feeling better. That was incredible." Mike said, still in shock. "I mean, I've got a few tricks like that, but not anything that amazing." He smiled and looked down at his friend. Tears still ran down her cheeks as she tried to smile. She looked so sad, so...pathetic. Just like him. And if she was just like him, a massive display of powers like that would probably drain a good deal of energy. Sure enough, Mitsu began to stagger, and Mike opened his arms as she fell forward. He caught her, and lightly brought her to the ground, resting her head on his leg. He didn't want her skin to come in contact with his or the hot ground for too long. People less fortunate than him would get burned. Mike ran a gentle finger through Mitsu's hair and let out an amused, quiet cackle. "We are more alike than you would want to be." he said softly, quietly laughing once more. "Oh yes. Very alike."
"Mike..." Sasha said, straining under Kasiya's weight. There were so many things she wanted to ask him, but she couldn't think of what to say.
"Ssshhh." Mike replied, his eyes not leaving Mitsu. "We all have many questions to ask, no doubt. However...we must wait just a little longer. These girls need to be put somewhere cool so they can recover, and I need ample room for when I remember that Keegan is here so when I start running I don't crash into anyone." He smiled as he continued to play with Mitsu's hair, not spending too much time in one area so he didn't burn her. He chuckled, pulling one of his Pokeballs from his pocket and releasing Nitro. "Would you please take Mitsu to the lab and lay her down in my room?" The Charizard complied, gently scooping up the purple haired girl and flying over to the entrance to the lab. He released Portabello and instructed him to take Kasiya and place her beside Mitsu, and to watch over them and send Nitro back out here. With his usual 'Yes, master.' the Breloom carefully lifted up the blond girl and carried her off.
Sasha walked over and sat down beside the boy, unable to say anything. Everything about him was different. The look in his eye when he was hanging over Mitsu was so unlike him, as were his little laughs and giggles. It was downright chilling. She instinctively scooted an inch away from him as she thought this. Noticing this, Mike smiled and chuckled.
"Not a stupid move." he said, still staring down at where Mitsu was.
"I-I'm sorry." Sasha said, quickly moving back to where she was. "I didn't mean to imply anys'hing by z'hat! I just..."
"It's okay." Mike said, his previously soft and comforting tone giving way. "I won't..." he pushed a breath out. "I would do the same thing." He grit his teeth and buried his face in his arms.
Sasha said nothing, but inched closer to the boy and put her arms around him. She was surprised to feel that Mike was just as hot as the rocky floor of the volcano, even hotter! "Ouch!" she yelped once again, pulling away from the boy.
"I can't even touch the people I care about!" the boy cried, his voice muffled by his arms.
Blaine stood quietly as he watched the events unfold. Ronald on the other hand, was completely beside himself. He was asking Blaine all sorts of questions and rambling on about how crazy this whole day had been. "Be quiet." the Gym Leader said shortly. "Just go, fill out the paperwork and leave. You needn't concern yourself with this, and not a word of this is to be mentioned to anyone, am I clear?" Blaine tilted his glassed down and looked at the man, his eyes making sure to convey the message should Ronald's head be to thick to understand his words.
"Yes sir!" Ronald replied, running off to the laboratory.
"Good." Blaine tapped his cane on the ground. "Sabrina." he called out. "I would like to have a word with you, young lady."
Ryka smiled at both Riza and Crenu. "That's a relief. I was afraid someone might have been hurt." She backed up a bit when Fantina stepped in to introduce the two. As Fantina said her name, Ryka took a small bow. "It's nice to meet you, Riza and Crenu."
Ryka watched on as Riza's excitement grew upon seeing the famed Gym Leader. Ryka, too, wondered how Riza recognized the purple-clad coordinator. Maybe she wasn't from Kanto? "Excuse me, Riza. You said you're a fan of Fantina, yes? May I ask...are you a coordinator?" Ryka's eyes light up as she asked. She really hoped the answer was yes!
Xannon was actually starting to feel the hurt, two Faint Attacks, despite his earlier Harden, was really starting to hurt. He didn't want to lose though, Xannon didn't get to battle to much and this would be a good way to show that he could do it. Maybe then he would be let out more instead of the ghost and the unnatural one, of course the bug was out a lot to but she still had a lot of catching up to do. "Xannon, I know you are hurting but they are hurting to. Let's knock them off with one more attack! Let's hit them with your Psybeam!" Humming slightly in agreement Xannon focused his energy and sent off a boosted Psybeam over at the Delcatty.
"Delcatty use Protect again!" 'Molly' shouted, she knew that if her Delcatty was hit then it would go down. This was her strongest pokemon to, all her others were just freshly caught or she just didn't work with them because they weren't really cute. Unfortunately it the poor Delcatty couldn't get it up in time and the multicolored blast hit it right in the chest. The Delcatty let out a pitiful moan and fell down onto the ground knocked out. "Oh no my Delcatty!" 'Molly' ran out and hugged her fallen pokemon before recalling it. "Ok, well then this battle isn't over yet!" 'Molly' knew that it really was over for her, all the pokemon she had left she had never really worked with before, she wasn't giving up yet though! "Ok, I just caught this guy on the way over! Let's go Frilly!" The girl tossed out a net ball revealing a small blue fish pokemon.
Dante and Xannon stared down at the small pokemon, if Dante remembered right it was called Finneon. Raising an eyebrow Dante couldn't help but wonder if the girl had been serious about the battle earlier. If this is what she was sending out, it didn't look like it was very strong and if it was freshly caught then it didn't have a lot of experience. Still one must never underestimate the others opponent, especially since this was a water type. "Xannon let's hit it with your Ancient Power again." Dante knew he wasn't lucky enough to get another power boost but it still was pretty strong. The rocks lifted up again before flying towards the small fish pokemon. At Dante's side Apollo shifted slightly, he wanted to battle but he didn't want to battle the small fish. Instead the fire horse leaned down and nudged the egg in Dante's arm. It had been a while since he had seen an egg and it was always interesting what would be inside of it and what attitude that pokemon would have. The large Rapidash still remembered little Levi who hatched when his trainer was in a dress.
Keegan said not a word as the chopper touched down, and he followed along behind everyone else, hands stuffed deeply in his pockets. Had he been paying closer attention he might have noticed that the Big Riddle Inn was located quite close to where he and Kasiya had their run in with that pair of brats that had destroyed her bike, and all to initiate a battle, which they'd been unable to win, making the day even worse for he and Kasiya. He watched with disinterest as Blaine opened up a series of hidden passages, leading them down deeper into his secret lab and inevitably to where the gym was located. Keegan hardly noticed the change in temperature, as growing up in Lavaridge had conditioned him to be more resilient to the heat, though he did remove his jacket, slinging it over his shoulder as he walked.
When they finally did arrive at their destination, Keegan was still bringing up the rear. He could feel the heat intensifying and he smiled a bit as it reminded him of home. This truly was the perfect place for a trainer specializing in fire types to make his home. He could hear Mike's giggling well before he could see him, and he stood up on tiptoe to peer over the heads of Kasiya and Mitsu, though they wouldn't obscure his view for long. For a moment he swore that Kasiya was going to throw her arms around the disheveled boy and squeeze him to death, but something else caught her eye and before he could even register what was going on, she'd fainted and was on the ground. Curious as to what had freaked her out he glaceed over as well, raising an eyebrow when he saw the familiar faces of Sabrina and Nina. He could easily recall the day Kasiya had told him she was dead, but now, there she was, standing plainly in front of them, very much alive. Okay, there's probably a very good explanation for this. Either she's a lich queen, a zombie, or Mike has some very serious hallucination skills going on here.
He did chuckle a bit when Mitsu initiated her healing abilities on the wounded Mike, watching everyone's wide-eyed reactions with amusement. It was similar to the way he'd looked when Mitsu healed his once painfully burned arm, and he held it up and looked at the smooth, unmarred skin and smiled before reaching into his jeans pockets and withdrawing a cigarette. He figured there was no harm in having one now, as it wasn't as though he could set anything on fire and cause damage inside a volcano. He continued watching the healing process, remembering just how tired Mitsu had seemed after healing his burn so it was no surprise to him when she passed out cold only moments after Kasiya had, and he chuckled again, the bluish haze coiling above his head like a smoky halo. Mike's Breloom and Charizard had been sent out to take care of the two fainted girls, and the redhead was certain Sasha would be next to hit the floor as she sat down beside the very troubled boy. This wouldn't be the case though, but for some reason or other, she couldn't seem to be able to touch him; at least not for more than a few seconds at a time. "Curiouser and curiouser," he muttered, looking over at Blaine as he seemingly wanted Sabrina's attention. He glanced back at Mike once more, and sighed. He'd expected for his old friend to be a wreck, but not quite like this. He wasn't even sure if he'd been noticed yet, so he decided to stay right where he was, and wait and watch.
"That all depends on what Pokemon you have," Miharu answered, finding it easier and easier to talk with Sam, but that might have been because she'd actually heard from her cousin. She knew that Keegan had always hated going to the Breeder's Gala every year, and would often stay home if given the chance, so she was a bit surprised to find that he'd went. "Riza?" she repeated, a bit confused until he realized that it had either been Riza or Kasiya he'd taken as a date, if not both. I guess even a sarcastic jerk like him can get a girlfriend at some point, she thought, wondering if he still had that little crush on Flannery.
She looked back up again, also recognizing that song - her mother had sang it to her when she was quite young. A wistful smile appeared on the girl's face at the memory, and she looked back over at Sam again, giggling a bit. "I think you mean Lavaridge," she said, a bit amused. "But yeah, you're right. I'm a Johto girl through and through. I live in Cherrygrove City, but I haven't been back home at all." She became quiet then, wondering how her father was holding up. He'd been quite insistent that she leave home and make this journey, but she couldn't help but worry about him. "Maybe I should check in on him," she mumbled to herself. He'd always tried to be so strong for her, even though she knew how much he was hurting. The small girl let out a sigh and continued walking, as Goldenrod City was now within their sights.
"Try a Poison Sting again!" Junko instructed her Tentacool as she watched the Shellos once again push through its confusion and launch another ball of glowing water towards them.
Nereus had just accomplished the feat of bringing itself upright when a command was slung in its direction. The Pokemon couldn't understand what the girl had told him however. Her words were nothing but a jumble of incoherent racket. The Jellyfish's head was still spinning and, unable to keep itself upright for more than a few seconds, the Pokemon hit the ground again. Nereus had fallen over backwards just in time to miss being blasted by the ball of water.
Unfortunately for Junko the attack didn't subside once it had missed its initial target and the glowing blue sphere rapidly made its way towards the defenseless girl. As she had no time to get out of the line of fire, all she could do to protect herself was to throw her bare arms in front of her face and hope for the best. The purple haired girl heard a loud smack and could feel a few sprinkles of water hit her body. She warily opened her eyes and peeked out from behind her arms to see the Hades had maneuvered himself in front of her to take the full force of the attack. His ghostly arms were outstretched and his whole body had expanded as to make sure that his trainer was fully protected from the onslaught.
"Hades!" she yelled in surprise of his sudden heroics, and she quickly snatched him out of the air. "Are you okay?" she questioned, cradling the Ghost in her arms. He looked up at her through his mask with his single glowing read eye. The specter nodded and Junko was glad that he seemed to be alright. She quickly shot an icy glare across the battle area, and it pierced directly into her brother's heart. "What the hell?! Are you crazy?!"
Jomei of course had watched the whole scene unfold in front of him with wide, horror-filled eyes. He felt extremely guilty and would have never forgiven himself if his sister had gotten hurt because of him. "I'm really sorry!" he yelped, "Are you alright?!" he could feel his while body quivering and the boy wanted to sink into a dark hole and never come out.
"I'm fine." Junko replied shortly. "Let's just continue with the battle." She knew it wasn't his fault, as he had no control over the glowing water sphere that the confused Shellos had shot out. She was the one who needed to pay more attention and react a bit quicker the next time something of this nature happened.
