Stardust Disaster Icee:: Just wondering, but why not brown? and also, can they post in their old house color?
Because Adonis uses brown. I figure since he's our headmaster he should have his own color.
Graduates can post in their own house color (since once a Puffie, always a Puffie etc.) I just don't think they should post in other house colors because it could get messy and confusing. The post colors help a lot with identifying who people are.

Why should Adonis need his own colour? It's not going to stop people from recognizing him O_o

He doesn't need it, but I figure since he's our only Headmaster, why not? If Gryffindors get their own color, Puffies get their own color, Elves get their own color, etc. why can't the Headmaster have his own color?
Another reason would be because brown is pretty close to dark red.

b e a r - c h o o I think violet is alright because its close to indigo/purple, but I think pink would be pushing it. Its not really that close to the Elves shade. And pink is also quite light and can be difficult to read. I agree with what you have said.IceeWitch For graduates any color except brown or another house's color because I think that can lead to confusion. How many colors does that leave graduates with? I suppose they can still post in their (previous) house's color, but where is the line drawn for the house colors? For example, is cyan considered a Ravenclaw-only color, or olive a Slytherin-only color? What colors are considered to NOT be already taken by something else (the houses, house elves, and headmaster)?

I wouldn't consider olive or cyan a Slytherin/Ravenclaw color...but that's just me. I don't think we should have to outline every single color that should be used. If someone's in doubt they should PM their Head or just use the standard color. As for graduates: I see your point. Those are basically the general colors which leaves graduates little to no room in their choices...but logically: after posting with one color for 7 terms wouldn't they just continue posting with that color? Honestly, I don't think there should be an outline for all the colors (general rules, yes, but super gritty specifics?) If there should be a need then maybe we should limit every house's choice to two colors (like Hufflepuff is basically) Yes...this was a bunch of rambles, but I hope I made a point somewhere sweatdrop

I'm kind of sick of posting in black and orange, personally. It's restricting mah freedom of expression talk2hand If I weren't a Head of House, and had my choice, I'd change my font in a heartbeat. xp IceeWitch As for House colors: are you saying you wanna expand Puffie's colors? Talking about graduate font, not Puffie font. I'm not a student anymore neutral

I always assumed the graduates would continue posting in their house color, or perhaps revert to default. Most of the legible colors and shades are already taken by houses, elves, and the headmaster.
ROY G BIV: Houses, elves Brown: Headmaster Black: House, elves
So unless we want to pull out "White" and force people to highlight posts just to read them, I wouldn't say that color is an answer.
Moving on to font style, underlining is just messy and bolding is regularly used by some houses (particularly the Hufflepuffs) and the headmaster. Italics for the graduates, perhaps?
Even though I'm sending up an idea, I don't really consider this to be such a huge deal. We've not really had issues with this in the past, have we?

We've had issues with house elf font and hufflepuff font in the past because it wasn't clear to guild members which font was required. It was suggested at one point (I think back around the time Angilwingz had just graduated?) that graduates were to use brown as their official colour. Peeves also posts in brown at the moment since he clearly doesn't fit into any of the house categories.
I just want these font rules clarified once and for all before we have a huge influx of graduates who start asking "What colour can I post in?!? gonk "

I always thought like Alutian until this came up... (Once a Ravenclaw always a Ravenclaw) but then the idea of choices came up. In the end, I think it just complicates the whole matter. After seven terms of posting in one color it should be habit to keep posting in it. A simple solution would be that we just don't dock points from graduates.

Alright. Round 3 then:
House-elves: Indigo, default, & Purple Gryffindors: Shades of red Ravenclaws: shades of blue Hufflepuffs: shades of Orange & Bolded black Slytherin: shades of Green Graduates: The colour of their former house.
That just leaves the case of Adonis's brown font. Are we making it exclusive to him? If so, Peeves needs to be notified of this so we can change his colour to olive or pink something.

I would like to make it exclusive to him. Also, Peeves hasn't even posted since July so I don't think that would be an issue unless he makes post this month

I agree with round 3. biggrin
My vote is brown for Adonis only, and if Peeves comes back, let him know that his color is olive. (Or whatever color is decided. My vote is olive; sort of close to brown, but not too close, and not already claimed by something else.)
