There are 8 flutes and 1 piccolo in our band...our director was like where did all the flutes come from....cuz we got like freshies this year I was like Muahahahaha Flutes are taking over.

ooh, I know. You can get some on 8notes.com And hello, I'm new here on Gaia, and I play the flute, although I plan on trying out for drum major... smile

the flute section at my school has slowly been vanishing...when i started in seventh grade...we had 7 flute players...9th grade came and we had 5....10th grade came and we had 4 cuz it was zero hour so all the freshmen quite and now this year, we are down to 3 flutes...sometimes 4 if the leader of our section isn't playing bassoon...which isn't all that often...heh... sweatdrop

Oh you know what? Our flute section is all under classmen. 3 sophomores and 6 freshmen. sweatdrop We still rock, though, but our section leader is barely heard over everyone because she's so quiet.

inureyez i play flute for concert band but i play piccollo for marching band and pep band That's what we do at my school.

You can't hear flutes unless it's solo-like and even then it's hard to hear if it's in the lower or middle octave(sp). Exactly. I can never hear the flutes that play in the other band. Sometimes I can, but just barely. That's why I'm now playing piccolo (the broken school piccolo actually...) I'd swear that all school piccolos are broken. xD My school is constantly sending piccolos to the shop. I remember in eighth grade there were 3 picclol players (2 eighth and 1 seventh) and the seventh grader's piccolo was always in the shop. Mr. P. was so mad. I think piccolos were like. Made to be broken. xD Which is a shame because they're so much fun to play! rofl

Hey I'm a flute, but all my fellow flute players shun me!
I got to be THE picc though...
until my band directer got the bright idea to make everyone of our 12 flutes piccs. scream
I need a flute to tell me that there is some good in my instrument somewhere!!!!

I got to be THE picc though... until my band directer got the bright idea to make everyone of our 12 flutes piccs. scream I need a flute to tell me that there is some good in my instrument somewhere!!!! crying Some bands do that... switch all their flute players to the picc for marching band, that is. It's so you can hear the flute/picc part better. If you've ever listened to a band where there were all flutes and no piccs you'd find that you can barely hear the flute part. D= Therefore, we have piccs. =3

Tetra Urimeshi i play the flute in band but this year i get to play piccolo and it is soo much fun!!! heart 4laugh I personally prefer the flute. =3 When our band gets music with high notes like G I get a headache after I get done playing it. xD
