"I did not!" Miyuki protested.
To her cheating was something bad, but if it was bad the other children would have told her to stop wouldn't they? She gave Amalirahc a look, she didn't think it was because it was something natural to her.

Earendil raised one eyebrow and looked at Miyuki.
"Miyuki," he said softly, but firmly, "did you do something that gave you an advantage that the other children did not have?"
Amalirahc opened his mouth to answer for her, but a nudge from Leyenda silenced him.

"I was a fox," Miyuki replied.
Was that really such a bad thing? It was true she was fast like that but she tried climbing which made it a bit difficult and maybe jumping wasn't the safest thing to do but it was a thrill.
"But no one was upset or said stop, if they said stop or if they didn't like it I would have stopped."

"I know that," Earendil said softly, making sure she understood that he knew she didn't mean to do anything wrong. He paused for a moment, then asked, "Miyuki, if you were trying to catch your mummi, and she flew into the air where you couldn't go, would that be fair to you? Even if you were having fun, and you didn't say anything to her, would it be fair?"

"No...." Miyuki pressed her ears against her skull.
She liked being in her other form though, but the hardest thing for her to understand was why didn't anyone say anything to her sooner? That actually bothered her more than to know she had been cheating. Why wait until it was over when she couldn't change anything?

Earendil reached out and tugged Miyuki into his lap.
"You're not in any trouble, don't worry," he murmured, smiling and hugging her gently. "But just remember ... when you're playing with others, it's nice to keep things fair for everyone, okay?"
The other children probably hadn't cared, maybe because it had been something new and fascinating for them, or because they were just having fun chasing after her - but it wouldn't have been the same game anymore. If Miyuki had changed the game without asking the other children (even if they had still had fun and didn't mind it) she was basically making them do what she wanted, even without meaning to or realizing it.
Still, he wouldn't burden her with that quite yet.

Miyuki looked up at him, "Okay...."
She would have to remember then not to do that anymore.
"I will."

Earendil smiled and kissed Miyuki on the forehead. "Good girl," he murmured. He smiled at her. "Do you want to sit with me while you eat? Or do you want to go back to your spot?"

"I want to stay right here!" she announced to him.
After that, she just wanted to stay right where she was, and she would try very hard not to get crumbs on him because that wouldn't be fun.

And so Earendil sat with Miyuki for the rest of the meal. It lasted quite a while - there was a lot of storytelling, a lot of joking, and a lot of just sitting and enjoying themselves - and then they all just lazed around a bit. Kelirahc said it wasn't good to swim right after eating anyways, so it wasn't as if they were in a rush to start their lessons.
"Hey Miyuki, let's build a sand castle in the sand!" Amalirahc cried gleefully, running towards the water's edge.

"A sand castle?"
Miyuki brushed off the crumbs as she stood up and walked over to where Amalirahc went to. While the idea was fairly obvious she never made one before.

Amalirahc grinned. "Come on, I'll show you!" he called over his shoulder as he ran. He ran into the water until it just barely went over his ankles, then turned around and sat down, soaking himself instantly. The cool water didn't seem to bother him - he just started pushing water into the sand that was above the waterline.
"See?" he grinned. "When you make the sand wet, you can make things with it!"
He piled it into a pile, then squared it off. "Look! A wall!"

Taking a cue from Amalirahc, Miyuki sat down in the wet sand along with Amalirahc. Since he did so it must be okay as she gathered up wet sand to pile up into a tower, but changed her mind and shoved the tower carefully behind Amalirahc's wall.
"A tower!"

Amalirahc grinned and built up a second tower.
"And we can make crenels and catwalks," he said happily, building away, "and a drawbridge ... maybe we can find a piece of wood somewhere for a drawbridge!"
Earendil, quite full from their large lunch, was just sitting back and relaxing, smiling as he watched the children play. "Is it safe for them to play so close to the water?" he asked in a soft murmur.

Lin looked to the waters, and watched it carefully. She mused on this question, "The waters look calm enough...."
She ventured but of course she knew very little about the ocean so she tilted her head at Kelirahc to see what he thought of it all.
In some ways shaping sand was easier than shaping snow and Miyuki found herself making pretty good towers, she even poked dents into them for windows.
