Hmm, I want to have another art contest. But instead of having catagories and then an overall top 3, I want to have a number of catagories and each catagory has a top 3. I hate picking an overall top three but I always find that I have a number of entries that are really good for a single catagory.

Do you guys think not having a top three with 'extra big' prizes would discourage people? I'd have catagory overlap so it wouldn't be like any single catagory couldn't make you eligible for any others.

hmm, 145 entries is quite a bit, so I'd say you're doing good so far, and 1.5 months is a while. If you're going to extend it, I'd do it say by the start of the first month, and then not more than another month or two. But extensions are pretty common so I don't think people would get angry. it's practically standard for people to have one extension. XD So if you think you'd like to give it a bit more, another month or two added onto the end shouldn't be an issue.

I like the idea of a grand prize that's one big item, then with just the catagories. I wonder what I could use. *ponder*

Hmm, I think I've had 3 or 4... I had one a long time ago, in 2004, for a friend, as a birthday present. Then I had two myself, and one recently with my friend dino. So 4 total. This would be my 5th.

I think I'm going to save up a bit and sell off some minor things and buy either a dec or nov 2003 letter as a grand prize, those seem to be fairly popular and over the 1 mil. mark now.

Nora; Wow 5 art contests? I can see why you keep going. I've got a lot of great art but also made a lot of friends. ^_^

I felt that putting all of the information on page 1 would make it way too long, so I divided it between pages 1 and 2 instead.
All the "most important" information is on page 1, while the "bonus points" additional information is on page 2.

The question-- does this work, or should I start a new thread with everything on the first page?
The first post has a table of contents that should make it clear that there is stuff on the second page, and hte most important things there (X character thinks of Y character) are linked in the character profile posts, but even so, I worry people won't pick up on page 2 having additional information.

If you don't have two many characters you can do color-coordinated charts too, like I did for my 3rd contest. Things like Lilith and Neikos' depraved interactions can't be explained by colour coordination though, so I had to actually whip some text out.

(J, Ria, Torin, Naer, and Iam aren't neutral to everyone-- they were just lazy and never told me what to make what =/ )

Plus, I'm super afraid that I'll put all my capital into it- about 10 mil worth of gold+items, at this point- into it... and then not get a very good turnout, or have it be WORTH all that money. A part of me thinks I should just liquidate it all and do single commissions. ...I wonder if that'd be ..'more' worth it. Y'know?

Of course, some of these artists don't open themselves to commissions- they just enter these contests. And others want a very large amt for a commish. So maybe it would be a better deal. *shrugsigh* I just dunno. ^_~ So I keep putting it off.
