I would have been alright with directing SHIELD if I knew what was going on instead of acquiring the position in a typhoon of chaos and mourning.

Knowing would have blown my cover. Chris would have run to the Legion at the first sign of trouble. You, Fury, and Hill are too capable for a move like that. But that's neither here nor there. My working relationship with you has never been about knowing what the other is doing, it's always been trusting that the other knows what they're doing. This is no different.

That hasn't always been our working relationship. Its just an outcome of my being in the espionage business and you in the hero business- and I realized I don't like functioning like that. I've know it for some time, a long time, actually. This just made me act... React? Choose to...?

*Leans back in the booth and shuts her eyes with a sigh.*

I don't think I do know what you mean... I do in the sense that you're hurting, but not "The last thing I need now is encouragement". Encouragement of your relationship with Vi? I don't encourage that. I love her and want her to be happy, but I think that is with someone within her world. And possibly closer to her age group.
